But if you keep that young gorilla with its family in a zoo situation and there is nowhere for him to go, bullying will turn into real aggression and it will become a serious problem. So they usually get the young males moved to a different facility around age 8. Sometimes they get moved to a "bachelor group" which is just a temporary holding with a bunch of other very young males that just got moved out of their family but haven't been relocated to female groups yet by the zoo staff, then they move them to female groups so they can try to make a harem.

He's not at all scared, just mindful and careful. I would say he is running from the females because he doesn't want to be crowded and sniffed. At least not yet, anyway! They made this move for social interaction. I've been keen on gorillas for a long time and I say it was a good idea. These are social creatures, and Kwashi probably enjoyed a more interesting life in the time between being placed in this group and unfortunately passing away due to infection in 2012.
