Thank you for the wonderful ABAQUS videos! Mech. E Undergrad here working on research that needs Abaqus, and I don't think I would've gotten that far without these videos!

Please, I have a problem to connect a rigid wire to 3D wire beam element. I fond some tutorial about how to constraint a rigid body to 3D solid. However it seems the prcedure diffrent in 3D wire? I wish if you could just give me some hints or refer me to another vedio?? Thank you so much for shearing!

I seem to be getting a different Eigen value if I apply 1 pound versus if I apply 50,000 pounds. They’re only about 10% different. Should they be exactly the same? This is regarding linear buckling and some Center solution 105.

Hello, and thank you for your video! I am currently using Abaqus in my masters thesis, where we are using buckled beams (similar to the one you used here) as bistable mechanisms. My question for you is do you have a way to easily record data for a force v displacement curve at the center of the beam? Given that it is a bistable mechanism, I’m expecting a cubic term. I think that I have a means of doing it properly right now, but any other input would be great. Thank you in advance for your assistance!

For mesh size, I understand why do you used 5 mm as a maximum size and considering simplified the computational procedure.
But does it appropriate if the ratio between length to thickness was small. in addition to that, the compression and tension layers that separate the ruler thickness where one of them will control the final disturbtion in term of the largest strength?
Should I use half of the thickness as maximum size in this case ?

i recall i used a mesh size that makes sense. But I keep reiterating, do not just throw a random mesh size (watch my previous introductory lecture), please perform a convergence study to determine the appropriate size. When you do your thesis or an actual project, convergence study is not an optional step, it's mandatory.

Hi, I really like your work and how you explain it. How would I model an I column with intermediate lateral restraints, with end supports, under a buckling load, where I need to determine the force in the intermediate lateral restraints?

Great video! I have tried to do a buckling analysis on laminated glass but I can't find any values for the modulus of elasticity and the Poisson's ratio of the PVB interlayer. Do you know where I can find these values?

Besides your information, I am also educating from your accurate accent so many thanks for you .
    I have one question .
Why not, if you can provide courses parallel with information whithin the international standards like AISC or ASTM , where they provide the equations and examples that we always use them in every analysis using ABAQUS . ANSYS . ect.
ُEx.the type of buckling and deflection are differ in every cases of study.
and what is difficault, is to study the model using one of the FEA methods, and that is what I am realy trying to learn from you.
    I wish you the best.

Thanks for the comment a lot. I appreciate it.
I recently met Bill Baker - the man who designed Burj Khalifa - and if there is something that I learned from him is to focus on theory.
Codes provide guidelines and often guidelines are not the same as theory, so that’s why I just stick to theory.
I leave reading the code to my students.
