- Follow along to see how I easily trimmed down a cordless cellular shade to fit a window in our kitchen.
Custom shades for this size window were about $50 per shade. Luckily we found a pair for $20 each, saving us $60 by trimming them ourselves!

Reporting back! This worked perfectly with my basic chop saw. Thanks op! This was a huge help, and my room feels so much better for it =D
That's awesome!
Awesome video. Very clear and just what I needed.
Thanks for the video! What kind of saw blade did you use?
I just used the stock blade.
I made sure to go slow.
Thanks for watching!
A slow cut with the wood blade that was already on my chop saw worked great as well. Thanks @WatchMeDiyIt for the video!
Nice!
Great video! Thanks for it.
Does a typical wood blade work for this?
Thanks!
Yeah. I used the stock blade that came with my saw.
Perfect timing on viewing your video. Well done and I am confident that I too can accomplish this task.
👌👌👌👌
Thanks, very helpful video!
👍🏼
Thank god.
Lol I guess I did speak too soon... Been wanting to make a desk for my lady... Like farmhouse one ... And then wanted to sneak in like power cord built into it and maybe like USB extender as well...
That’s a pretty good idea. 👍🏽
Can I use a mitre saw and not chop saw?
Yeah! I used a miter saw in the video. 😃
Lol you could have at least made the 2 shades level with each other.
Did you try flipping the blade on the saw to see if it cut better, without the risk of chipping?
From what I can see the second window may have been lower than the first window that's why it looks like that but what you saying is right they should match up so I would have made the other one a little bigger with maybe a strip of wood on top in place to put the shade on to make it match up
Yeah. The window trim heights are different. Didn’t want to spend too much extra time modifying the window frames to install the shades. Thanks for watching!
I just found your channel and I love it! I noticed you’ve not produce any new videos in six months. Have you quit UA-cam, I sure hope not.
Thanks! I’m still making content, just been too busy to upload. Have several projects and videos in the works. Thanks for watching!
@@WatchMeDIYIt Awesome! I’m glad to hear you’re still at it because you really are gifted. Thanks for responding!
sweet!!
Cha-CHING!!! 😁😁
😆
Can you just use a hack saw?
Yes. It is plastic.
One critique. You should have cut the styrofoam down to the length also. Just my ocd kicking in.
😆
GREAT BLOOPERS
😆
good, but the cellular blinds should go inside the window reveal, for maximum thermal benefits
Wonder if I could cut with the steel hand saw?
I'm thinking you can, but not sure how clean the fabric would look. 🤔
Why hang these on the trim rather than within the frame of the window?
Good question. I guess that's what I'm used to seeing. 🤷🏽♂️
Thanks for watching and commenting.
What type of blade did you use on the miter saw?
I used the blade that came with the saw. I just made sure to go real slow when bringing the blade down.
Well that’s awesome, but u act like I have that saw handy.. and the table to mount it on…..
That sounds like a You problem. Why you blaming this guy?
@@TheyFakedMyDeath 😆
@@TheyFakedMyDeath for real lol. I don't have either and I didn't assume anything.
What type of blade please?
I just used the stock blade that came with the saw. The key was going really slow.
Thanks for watching!
I have some cut at home Allen and Roth from Lowe's and am not sure if I can cut with a regular table saw or not. They are half the price of the other ones though and are nicer.
