UI Fluid Health Orb || Houdini and Unreal Tutorial

- These are the source files form the tutorial, you will see how the fluid orb for the interface was created. This is using the powerful combination of Houdini, Substance Designer, and Unreal Engine.
Houdini is used to make the fluid geometry that will be baked into a texture flipbook. The Houdini file will show 2 examples of making these fluids.
Designer is used to control the textures sizes and packing textures into one.
Unreal Engine is where it all comes together by making a material and building the fluid effect.

Dude, you have a great channel and as a new Houdini user I've learned quite a few tricks, thanks. One comment though, invest in a good quality mic.
Thanks for the great tutorial, I'm looking forward to trying it out later today!
Really cool tutorial :) Thanks Simon!
very interesting smart usage of flipbook, I would have use animated noise but watching the video demonstrate that the flip setup does not take that much time, thank you for sharing !
Wow, thank you so much!
Great tutorial!!!
Can't wait to see these small SD parts made in that rumored H20 revamped COPs
Dreaming about that day 😄, hopefully one day we will see the COP reworks.
Is there a way i could convert this for a animated series not a game? Amazing tutorial!
You can render to a video instead of a flipbook, I guess.
Hey Simon, how are you doing at the new studio? I have a question. Yesterday, I was trying to use Labs Flipbook Texture with Labs Loops SOPs in Houdini. It worked well and repeated smoothly, but when I tried it in EU5, it didn't work. I am exporting 64 frames from (90 to 154). What am I missing? Thanks.
Hey! You are able to output these images from Houdini? It would be the same for UE5. If the images/flipbook from Houdini looks correct it seems to be a shader issue in the flipbook
Is it possible to have the liquid simulation transparent ?
Great tutorial, only issue is its setup as a surface material domain but to use as a user interface it wont work, if anyone knows how to fix that, its got me stumped, when trying to make a widget i get error that it wants to be converted to ui when i do i end up with a black orb with sparkles and nothing else
have you fixed or find another way to use it as health bar? xD
Yep, thats a little trick in some youtube videos, it looks cool, but you cant use normal maps on widget materials, so you whould find way around, for example make that flipbook to work as alpha mask and put some random color, you still maybe need to make it pretty, but it will work.
can you give it for free 👉👈
