- In this video will be shown how to build a procedural old antique lamp in Houdini. Some basic Houdini knowledge will be required to follow along with every step.
The setup is build on curves, so bending the input curve will result in cool new variations as you will see in the video.
You will mainly see how procedural modelling can be done in Houdini and using varieties of features and nodes to build this.
For the input curves, ornaments shapes are then created around it. This will make the lamp look interesting. Using these shapes a lamp model can be copied on the on them on specific locations.
The last touch would be adding chain so the lamp can hanging on the ceiling of a building.

Your tutorials are great. I have started learning Houdini a few days ago, with the intention of switching from other software.
Your video on how you've started Houdini is very encouraging and your blog is also helpful. Thank you.

Very stylish !!😎👌
That is great. Great video, i like it 😊
wow !.... You are back! :D
Thanks for the tutorial. Currently ongoing. But a little bit issue at my end, @15.00 I didnt have a nice sweep, my thought is the bended line added at the end of the curve (at point 0) does not have normal. I have to put a polyframe (with a texture UV gradient style) before the sweep node to have a clean polygon.
Simon. You are a badass. :)
