- My third year film at Calarts, but made mostly at Gobelins school in Paris. :) It is a prologue, of sorts.
A story in which a little recluse girl makes a friend, at the expense of her ceiling.
Note: This is my first time trying to upload in youtube's "HD" and I'm hoping it resizes all right for people with slow connections? - Фільми й анімація
" A story in which a little recluse girl makes a friend, at the expense of her ceiling. "
Bootiful joke.
DESCRIPTIONS
This "pre-Jekyll" gives me life, he is adorable omg. Too bad Jekyll bout to regret having Hyde in TGS lmao
what
@@_Shadows__ The Glass Scientists is a web comic made by the same person who made this. If you're curious about these characters I'd recommend reading it
@@duskbg9106 hmm thx
@RedBlackandBold This takes place a little less than ten years before the Hyde experiments--there's a bit of plot that happens between this story and the main Jekyll and Hyde story (notably: Rachel gets friend-zoned)....
In an alternate universe I still imagine Henry and Rachel flying off into the sunset - no potion, no Edward and no mental battles or angry mobs to fight, just the endless open sky b^_^d

Sabrina Cotugno (the creator of Paraphernalia) made a webcomic called "The Glass Scientists". The characters in this film (Rachel and Henry) are also main characters in TGS, where lots of interesting and strange things happen to them in Victorian London.
You can check it out if you're interested, just search "The Glass Scientists" if you want to read it! Hope that helps! :D
I-i'm not going to cry... Not going to cry..
..
...
....
*cry* it's pure perfection! *_*
EdwardTheBadass *cry a whole sea* :'v/
Omg! It’s a younger Jekyll! So cute! I really do love your design of Dr. Jekyll and your art style is really cute.
Wow, your portrayal of young Dr.Jekyll was very charming.
(Yes, I know who this guy is supposed to be. I found the link to this video in your deviantart gallery.)
This is beyond adorable X3 and the style is really charming. Stuff like this is what makes me keep studying animation
agreed
This video deserves much more views and attention.
Jekyll please watch out and not crash into Rachel's ceiling-
This is such an adorable story. I wish there were more big official movies that worked in this style, the music and visuals being the key to telling the story. Its beautiful. :) Thank you Sabrina.
IT'S SO FREAKING CUTE!!!
I love this so much and would love to see more Jekyll and Hyde animation from you. if the glass scientists was made into an animation film or series that would be amazing.
I love the face-lines. It fits in rather well with the entire theme. As for the facial expressions in the last two scenes, they fit in their own way.
There's so much detail in this. I can't even begin to describe how much I enjoyed this omg it's so adorable and aaaaaahhhhhhh you're so talented and amazing.
The sketch lines through the face are a personal taste. In my opinion, it's reminiscent of when Disney started using the xerox technique during films such as 101 Dalmatians, Aristocats, and The Jungle Book, the result being something that looks like a sketchbook come to life. Personally, I find the look very appealing, so my advice would be if YOU, the animator, like how it looks, go ahead and do it. You can't please everyone, nor can you fully disappoint them. Great work!
The boy kinda reminds me of the Eleventh Doctor, visually.
this man so adorbs
man he's hot!
SO FLIPPIN CUTE MAN!!!!!!!!!!! YOU'VE GOT REALLY TALENT IN MAKING SHORT MOVIES!!!!!
Reminds me of Bioshock Infinite in a lot of ways. Oh yeah, did I mention that this is one of the most awesome animated shorts I've seen!? I freaking love it!
I got so scared @2:51 xD I thought he'd leave and she'd never see him again!
I went to the '2011 Character Animation Open Show' over at Calarts and saw this, and it was definately my favorite. I really absolutely love it! I'm so glad I found it here, now I can admire it some more. =)
So much expression, it tells such a great story, but the most graceful thing of it all? Not a single word was spoken.
what a nice young man i sure hope he lives a perfectly normal and happy life free of identity crises !
AWESOME
jekyll you are supposed to be profecional! DONT LEAVE YOU GOOGLES AND LIGHT BEHIND!!!!!!!!!!
and the girl
@misshollisclass That's charming! :) Is there any way I could read some of them? I'm always interested in other people's take on my characters!
A tribute to the fact you don't always need words to tell a story, especially in film. Simply brilliant! Makes me wish this were a teaser to a full lengthed movie.
I am crying from all these fluff. OMG
the animation is so smooth and bouncy!!!! as a fan of the webcomic this is a prequel of, it's nice to see both the artists first projects with the characters and what they look like when animated! :)
@DreamingOfDrawing I'm so touched that some people seem moved by my film. :)
still a better love story than twilight
When the film ended I clasped my hands to my chest and felt tears in my eyes. Beautifully done! :')
This has got to be one of the cutest things I've seen in a while! I just love it!
THIS.... is enough to make a grown man cry....
no but for real I just love the way you managed to develop character in such a short runtime. like how Rachel from the start kind of hated Henry for breaking into her ceiling and some of her antiques, but as she grows closer to him, and begins to fall in love, she is willing to sacrifice her things for him.
The part that made me cry the most though, was when he just left his light-things and googles with her, as if even though he might not see her again, she would always have a memory of him, and these picture-things must be quite important for him as they tell his story, but no, he decides that Rachel needs them more and OMGGGG I CAN'T!!
*sniff* such beauty, such perfection...
I don't even have words! The only thing that can come out of my mouth is a squeak of varied pitch! Stunningly beautiful in its simplicity and yet so complicated looking.. I absolutely love this!
@VioletMWicket Yes it is~ It's a story based on characters I've had for a while. : )
Simply one of the most amazing animations I've seen in quite a long time.
My hat is off to you, artist.
I actually cried a little at the end. It really touches your heart.
I cant even describe the feelings that i have after watching this) Characters are so lovely, and despite the fact that video is short it makes you care about characters) awesome)
Truly beautiful! He's amazingly attractive, but even that seems to fade as another detail to the true emotions that are released. The wanting her to grab on makes you want to cry, if she hadn't. Amazing!
In primary school we used this for creative writing ✍️ but i keep coming back to it because its so beautiful ❤️👍
this art is similar to that of glass scientist...
It's by the same person. :)
It's Jekyll and Rachel
I want to see more of these two!!
CallMe Bee You actually can! Sabrina has a webcomic called The Glass Scientists starring these two, Henry and Rachel.
Since the last time this channel uploaded was 4 whole years ago, I really wonder what their art looks like now or if they still animate
The artist is actually now a storyboard artist for the animated cartoon Star vs. The Forces of Evil! She also produces a webcomic called The Glass Scientists based on the story of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (where Jekyll's design seems to draw inspiration from the man in this short film as well...) Her tumblr is up to date with all of her artistic endeavors, if you would like to keep up with her!

J Trujillo Actually, this is Dr. Jekyll and Rachel. How they met, I mean
this is veeery late but the artist has a twitter (twitter.com/arythusa) and has a webcomic called The Glass Scientists (theglassscientists.com/), they also worked in Star vs. The Forces Of Evil, and others!
most adorable thing I've seen all week. also fantastic visual acting.
What a lovely, dreamy world you've created--congratulations!
I absolutely love the personality, details and Animation put into this!
It's amazing how much your characters have changed since you first made them. Keep up your amazing work, fam!
This pretty much made my entire month
AH it's great to see more of your work, and how it just keeps getting better. It's no wonder you're so good. Cal Arts and Gobelins?! Goodness! Also a good psa about hoarding.
I believe the lines in the face are fine. If anything, it adds another aspect to the design. 'Pixar' has their trademark looks, she has hers, and I think it's beautiful and heartwarming, 'despite the lines'.
Most beautiful short film I've ever seen. Fantastic work, congratulations.
Okay, i never though about this but... I ship them, the pilot versión of them are so wholesome and lovely. I see in this versión that Rachel and Jekyll could be more than friends, Laynon was originally the villain, Rachel meet Hyde already and Jasper's concept wasn't even complety yet. But, i still like the final comic, is pretty colorful, diverse and even more original in some way, I'm still wating for the nexts uptades every monday nwn.
Aww! Its been years since I last watched this! I'm so glad ! found it again!
Stunning ...loved it and want more!
OH WOW. So beautifully done! The characters and story are so charming! :)
that was wonderful! the style was stunning and the animation was so smooth. great job!
OMG. So much love
OH my god, this was just so beautiful and blind-blowing. I love the amount of detail you put into every little thing... I can't believe it. This was so heartwarming to watch, too. I love the animation, the simple color scheme, everything. You have a new fan!
This is absolutely beautiful
I LOVE THIS SO MUCH! Its beautiful animation!
That's a wonderful animation, Sabrina :) beautifully done - animation, concepts, music, feeling. Good job!
such beautiful art and detail!!
@Akasunification Why yes that is, along with some other of my characters XP
:D wow... i absolutely love all the detail and work you put into this. you really have inspired me!!! ive been searching for the right animation program for months, and i think you helped me find it!
Oh man, this is so cute!
your animations are awesome the sketch lines are a cool affect. An up and coming animator should't be judged on such a small detail its the story that matters and the story was heart warming. Keep up the good work remember you create what makes YOU feel happy and not for someone else :)
I was so afraid it wouldn't have a happy ending. I'm glad the girl got to ride off with the boy.
Nice animation! I love your style and art work.
This is so sweet!
Well THAT was pretty much completely adorable.
Good job on this! The animation was very fluid and the artwork was lovely to behold. :)
i hope we'll see in the future some short animations of Tgs :0...
Beautiful!!!
this is so beautiful!!
EVerytime I watch this, tears seep out from my eyes. Please animate more! XD
Aw! Just aw! So adorable.
@SabrinaCotugno thank you for inspiring me to get into graphic design and web design. I have been a big fan of your work since I found out you help work on Star vs forces of evil, gravity falls and The glass siencetist wich is awesome comic can't wait for the first book to come out. Also you inspired me to try cosplaying Edward Hyde and Henry from the comics as well.
This so lovely!
I absolutely love it! Great animation and story telling! You have a great future ahead of you. :)
This is amazing.
Wonderfull animation love the story and the visuals
Amazing. Really well done!
i love this. so much
Ahh...This is wonderful.
That was absolutely adorable. Subscribed!!
I cheer when she grab hold of the red ribbon! Hooray!
Awwwh what a great lil film :]
So is this guy actually supposed to be Jekyll from TGS? Or is this like, a precursory character that only shares some similarities with him? Either way, it's so much fun to watch him _move_ outside of a comic format.
I didnt think it was gonna end that way, I was expecting something more. Anyway, beautiful job!!
What a beautiful film! I can tell that you worked very hard on it, you'll have NO trouble getting a job I'm sure! ^^
THIS NEEDS MORE VIEWS
I feel terribly sad-face that Rachel gets friend-zoned! But I just love romance...
Superb animation!
it touched my heart
I think she is a gost
Very well done!!
We are learning about it in school Y.5
so cute!
aww so cute!!!!
