I loved every second of participating in this event. I was one of the guys working on “nanachi”, the blue colored rabbit figure in the Ukraine flag. It originally had its own little square, but was taken over by some other guys. We fortunately came to an agreement with the guys making the Ukraine flag, a space for our little bunny, in exchange for maintenance of their flag.
I loved this event too although i only participated in half of it I was one of the brave defenders of the welsh flag defending against the polish who were trying to expand their own flag there were more poles than us so they won eventually
I was part of the Canadian group. We had a few people who jumped the gun and kept trying to expand the area we had, some were just trolling by trying to add weed leaf, and the banana lords invasion. The rest of us were just trying to rebuild constantly.
Being there for the end was wild. No one knew what was happening at first, and by the time the realization set in, you start watching everything slowly disappear into a white void.
Glad to have participated on the behalf of the minecraft redstone community, granted I don't know how to build a hopper clock but it was nice knowing that my 1 pixel helped.
One of my favorite things were Germany's reawakenings every morning in German time, visible through the clean colors traveling from left to right. They were literally called for internally with the words: "The hearts have to go, they haven't been approved" and if that isn't German, I don't know what is
Honestly, the osu community was a great antagonist to XQC, from a video a saw on them, they were basically making alliances with everyone, except the people who would destroy art, they were truly one of the few that were truly dedicated to making this a better experience for everyone, not just themselves.

I remember fighting for the Hermitcraft community. One of the coolest things I think we did was make a nether portal that the game stop stocks went through to avoid plowing through what we had made
as a spanish person I love that moment when the canvas expanded where we tried desperately to make another flag but everyone was like "No fuck off" and immediately when the timezone hit and most of us went to sleep it got immediately obliterated

I dont know why but the hand that said "Don't" over it slowly expanding before it consumes the entire canvas was an oddly poetic way for r/place to end. We literally have no idea who created the hand whether it was admins, hackers, just random people, or something else, it was still really cool to see.
Late reply but it was the idea of turkish youtuber Porçay (r/burdurland) and with the help of Elraenn they made the hand and "DONT" sign just before the end.

Glad I was part of this. I was part of the celeste community and it was just so much fun. Going to different subreddits to talk with the neighbours and getting allies and making pacts We ended up being strong allies with the Dutch and Omori. It was just great fun!
As a member of the Sonic community and the French community, this was super fun! I remember how epic the las day was, and thanks to our general, Kameto, and pretty much all big French streamers collaborating together like we often do, we made really quick progress just by being very well coordinated and with having nothing better to do lmao

I still have the medal of "I cleaned Messi butt in r/place" that the Argentina group made for us (Portugal group). The collabs were beautiful. Other collab I helped with was the trio of writers in Portugal, Italy and Spain
I remember r/place, I remember clicking on Ludwig's stream and watching the artful chaos unfold, for I could not participate in most of it since someone else was using the home computer and I was not logged into reddit on the device I was watching the stream on. However, it was all still beautiful watching it all play out before me. I participated in the event when I could, and still have many screenshots saved of amazing artwork, and one screenshot that I took mere moments after the event had ended and you could only place white. I have screenshots of the last few pixels I placed, saving each as if they were the final one, but I kept going back for more. 'Twas a wonderful time, I loved every second of it!
Sadly I wasn't part of any of it but at 10:22 and 10:34 it caught me completely off guard to see Sunny disappear from the Omori section in the bottom right
as someone who was involved in the hermit heads its always so cool seeing people make videos on r/place and knowing that in the back you can see me placing pixels to fix a bunch of minecrafters heads
I was part of the Undertale/Deltarune part of it, thankfully we were next to OSU!, so we had an Alliance to keep our lil guys safe. (Germany taking Asriel's body not withstanding) We also kept trying to make the One Piece jolly roger (and any other skull) have the Sans Undertale eye flame.
The funny thing is is that the bots on Canada were actually trying to fix the flag, but the algorithm couldn’t calculate the pixels correctly so it just kept getting distorted
We defended the Turkish Flag, one of 3 resisters of the purple void, we wrote ENOUGH on the final expansion, we fought with the Netherlands, we put a lemon and the purple elephant. We made the peace sign and the man under it, and we made the hand inside the demon at the end. We, Turkish played a big role in 2022 r/place
I love how Germany went about this, because of how coordinated they were. You could try to attack and destroy all you want, as soon as the germans are awake, they will defend and rebuild. They have a map with coordinates and only allow what was approved on the german flag. But they were also willing to be peaceful as long as it was talked about with them.
I love how Jack manifold change the colours of the eyes on the void Demon thing, and then when it became massive, all the other eyes were multicoloured. I’m not sure if it has to do with him but probably does.

Bro, recreating that Kirby with Ludwig was so difficult. We had power, but there were many communities much stronger. But as you said, eventually lots the good art stood the test of time.
I would like to say though, that while it is very true that the streamer's power goes away right when they end stream, there are some people that stay, and i actually remember a very specific moment last year where i and many other offline chatters in tubbo's chat defended the tubnet logo, and even went into other chats requesting help, which actually saved us. don't underestimate offline chats too much. We ended up surviving at least two offline attacks from other streamers, both of them being from this guy named donut.

I'm honored to be part of Reddit history with my single white pixel, which was part of the small conflict over how the eye should look like on the Bad Dragon logo (if you don't know what that is... uh, don't Google it).
I was part of a Roleplay server at the time and we fought with our 8 active people to get our logo on there by the end. We fought against the TrashTaste podcast (they won) and against the country of Lybia, but by the very end our logo made it.
My community (neopets) placed 3 different pixel art. A yellow kacheek telling you to feed your pets, a faerie aisha and a slorgs (those slugs next to the pink among us at 1:29)
i was part of the pxls space logo, we had our own set of fun moments including being fookin DEMOLISHED by XqC, allying with osu, and being helped by Btmc somehow... i still cant quite process all of it. i swear half of the event didnt even happen 💀 was fun though.
It's funny how r/place is different depending on the point of view You mentionned france like a small event inside a pool of events, but in france we pratically only heard about the france battle. There is just so much small events, that are as interresting as the big ones, the r/place will never run out of content

Yes, I'm still mad about it. They don't know what they're doing. We agreed to appear in their corner with the main dudes up there in the discord, they got a whole ass announcement, we said multiple times it's not a grief and they still wouldn't give up a measly 6x20 area in the lot. The place we eventually got next to OMORI was really good though, Brad was everywhere for some time. Good times.

This event was so fun, I loved going to communities I was part of and helping them make their mark, (twenty one pilots, Scott the Woz) I even made my own little pride flags in some of the hearts and one of the sheep?
