    Nice to see you got what I get most times... Mostly fresh air, nice views and a few dewdrops 😳. I didn't realise or even think to look for rolled coprolites... I always look for the tell tale shaped one's with a little curl on the end 🤣 seriously, as the cliff states regarding danger of falling etch...is their any blog or site that warns us so we do or don't enter the beach? Thanks for the video, hope to bump into you on the beach someday 👍🍻

      Rain in the winter coupled with lots of wind would make me even more wary of being anywhere near the cliffs, there aren’t any dedicated sites to let you know the situation of the cliffs as they are so unpredictable, I’ve seen some huge falls in the middle of summer. Always air on the side of caution and just stay well away. Makes my stomach turn sometimes when I see families with little kids feet away from the cliffs. If you do see me down the beach give us a shout, always up for a chat.

    Great to see you back. We're really missing Charmouth, hopefully we'll be back in the next few months to wander along the beach. That view out across the sea with the large rocks at the foreshore made me feel quite melancholy. Good luck tidying up the workshop, we just did our summerhouse and the bloody spiders get everywhere!

      Yeah we have a bit of a false widow infestation so not looking forward to the clean up to be honest!

      @@TheFossilAcademy We get a lot of those in North London too, we also get a lot of creepy woodlouse spiders, red head, orange body. Yrk. The trusty Henry Hoover seems to sort them out though.

    Good to see you back. Any tips for identifying coprolites?

    • @TheFossilAcademy
      @TheFossilAcademy  3 роки тому +1

      First things first, if you think you’ve found a coprolite, poke it with a stick first, there are dogs on the beach........ shades of brown with shiny black flecks in it. Some have a very distinctive twist to them too, these are most likely from a shark opposed to an ichthyosaur, as sharks have a twisted gut, creating the traditional mister whippie look.

    I guess we've all got a touch of the lockdown blues. Its hard to motivate yourself I find. Unless you have a nice warm space prep work for me is just too cold and miserable in the garage The spring weathers not too far away now. There's another nice Asti waiting for you on the beach one day soon buddy. Keep safe and hope to see you around.

      Yeah this one has been really tough, think losing the job hit harder than I let on to be honest, have got some freelance work for the heritage centre though which is nice, will be running guided walks in the summer too, government permitting.

    Hey Dan, love the channel 😀.
    I live in lyme and found a Birchi dapidium and a Birchi ammonite that I need prepping. I am not brave enough to tackle these as I have only just started prepping myself and will probably ruin them. Are you interested in prepping them for me or can you put me onto someone who can. Thanks. Phil

    • @TheFossilAcademy
      @TheFossilAcademy  3 роки тому

      Morning Phil, I’m not taking on any prep jobs until later in the year but James Carrol aka ‘The Wobbly Fossiler’ is really good at the birchi stuff and has an awesome eye for detail on more demanding stuff. He’s local too. www.thewobblyfossiler.co.uk he’s got some of his work on his new site.

      Love Seatown! Eype too, but tends to be big hammers at Eype. When lockdown ends I’m going to be going different places to mix it up a bit, got a Whitby trip planned and will defo be doing more around the local area when restrictions allow.
