- Balmoral Castle Tour: The Queens Scottish Castle
While Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle may be the most well-known of the Queen's royal residences, the Monarch has been going to Balmoral Castle every year for her summer getaway.
Located in Royal Deeside, in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, Balmoral Castle has been in the royal family since 1852, after Prince Albert bought it.
The Queen and her husband, Prince Philip, famously visited the residence every year during their marriage. However, 2021 marked the first time the Queen spent the summer there as a widow, having lost Prince Philip in April 2020.
Balmoral Castle is set amongst acres of lush green countryside and the nearby River Dee.
As you would expect from a royal country residence, it is isolated from any noisy neighbors. However, it has the village of Crathie at a convenient six miles away, and it is located just under two hours away from Inverness.
The royal family residence was initially purchased by Prince Albert, Queen Victoria's husband. Deeside was reportedly recommended to the royal family for better weather.

Meghan has never visited Balmoral although she has been invited.

The Duke of Edinburgh passed away in April 2021, not April 2020 as mentioned.
Exectley 👍
Thanks. I was going to say the same thing.
Even in nationwide bbc they get it wrong, why?
And Her Majesty died 17 months to the day after him

Thank you for the tour!!!!Beautiful !!! but I'll always remember, that the queen passed away there... I will miss her forever!!!
You had me at no noisy neighbors and beautiful countryside. It would be something to see under a full moon, too. They talk about how great the pyramids are (and they are), but you have to marvel at these castles and cathedrals of Europe.
My thoughts and prayers are with the British people and Elizabeth II family at this time.
Did you know that Prince Albert & Queen Victoria first arrived at Balmoral on 08 September 1848. Prince Albert loved this place becos it reminded him of a village in Germany & Queen Victoria found it to be a place of calm & peace. This made them buy this property. It is the same calm & peace that Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II sort in her final days & to remin
Thank you 🙏 😊
Wow thank you for sharing
Much agreed. That house was always so full of love., and freedom for them. She knew the end was coming. She wanted to be in a calm, private, serene happy place.
And the Queen died September 8, 2022.
I am from the U.S.A. Balmoral is my personal
favorite of the Royal families estates.
The Home and grounds are just so beautiful. Condolences to all in regards to the passing of Her royal Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. “Truly the end of an enchanting era” 🇬🇧
Godspeed to all.
@ Jeff65 ... Her Majesty referred to Balmoral 🏰 as her dear Paradise in the Highlands.
The account of the Glory of my 👑 Crown is that I Reigned with your Love.
To the people, her Father, who also loved Balmoral, and to God.
It would be much better if you did some research prior to speaking about things English British. So many untruths. Pity !
It's beautiful and stunning, and yet comfortable looking all at the same time!
It looks like a lovely castle, no wonder the Royal Family all love it, the history too is fascinating. Love all the Groundes and the story behind the John Brown stautes pity King Edward after his mother Queen Victoria died had it moved. It will be very special now to the Scottish now that Queen Elizabeth died there, what a lovely spot may she rest in Peace
Balmoral Castle and Scotland is beautiful!
It's interesting that King Charles III, as he is now known, is thinking about opening Balmoral to the public as a museum to honor his mother, the late queen. I believe it will become even more of tourist attraction.
Everybody wants to be in a castle and it will generate revenue for maintenance. I agree. Share it with the world. The place needs life in it. Energy. Love. Appreciation. I'll def go.
Waiting for it to turn into a hotel
@@asgard5281 That is a phenomenal idea. Can you imagine actually staying there?.. In a 1000 year old castle? 1st class everything. Ride the horses, drive the cars, go for nature walks, maybe a hunt, go to St George,s chapel for service, check out other properties in the park. There are over 1000 rooms. That alone would keep me busy for a week. It would be a breathtaking venue for weddings as well. But I don't think Charles will go that commercial with it. William might.
@@2468HOTROD Well to be truthful, it's a 1000 years of family. Not just the Duke and Queen., besides if they do open it up, I'm sure all the personal apartments will be off limits. There's still plenty to see.
@@2468HOTROD You could be right but we shall see. Itl be interesting to see what changes he makes.
Absolutely breathtaking loved the video. May the Queen rest is peace.
Blessed indeed to spend her final days in her beloved Belmoral. Rest in Peace Good Queen Elizabeth II. Amen!
Hello 👋how are you doing?
A historical monument of great significance. Breathtaking views just awe inspiring. Can't miss the Soul of the Queen who was such a Valued Owner resident of this priceless estate . May She rest in Peace. Her memories will come to mind again and again.
It's just as beautiful inside as I would have imagined. Spectacular.
It's a lovely old castle, so much history to it, may Queen Elizabeth's Rest in eternal peace
This seems really like a true home, since Albert purchase it for his family, and had a direct hand in building many of the changes. It is a true family home.
With 52 bedrooms???
@@lllowkee6533 just nod and agree with the algorithm.
She made you a Moron! 🙄🙄🙄
Balmoral is amazing. I bet the air there is very fresh.
Cold yes..
Seldom warm
@@thomaslowdon5510 I appreciate cooler temperatures. And I come from French Scot.
@@neutralbarr8838 then you"re good to go....enjoy..
@@thomaslowdon5510 As you say, and a pleasant day to you.
RIP Your Majesty Late Queen Elizabeth II, I miss your Royal Banter, you changed the world & made it a brighter place to live in, God Bless You Always 🙏🖤
As stated in the video, Balmoral Castle and Sandringham were privately owned by the RF. When Edward VIII became King, he inherited the 2 properties. When King Edward VIII abdicated he did not turn over the 2 properties to his brother, King George VI, who was now King. Instead, King Edward VIII made his brother (George) purchase the 2 properties for 300,000 pounds----which was a lot of money back in the day. It became a bone of contention between the two brothers.
Thank you! Very beautiful everything!
O Castelo de Balmoral não conheço mas deve ser muito bonito. Vamos ver quando vão autorizar visitas.
Such a tranquil setting.Wish I had the finance to be able to stay over in one of the cottages at Balmoral. Can see why Queen loved it so much.A complete get away from the public eye.
I enjoyed this video. It is the first opportunity I have had to see within this treasured estate. A close look at the Royal s Sandringham estate would br interesting too.
The interior of Sandringham is not all that much to look at compared to the other royal residences (I have a book on it).
Awesome llove castle reminds me of stories of castles in school
Cond.... and for reminiscence of the beautiful days that she spend with her late husband, Prince Philip.
Thanks for tour! beautiful
It’s Gorgeous all of the furniture looks comfortable too!
It's a very excitement moment to know about the beauty of every corner throughout the video. Wonderful presentation to the world particularly people like those who couldn't afford to visit .
May GOD bless you.👏👏👏👍
I am very much happy to see the Balmoral castle thank you for showing the castle show the same again
Beautiful! Wish we could see inside!
Wonderful.
Beautiful Castle and surrounded by nature.
I think losing Prince. Philip took the wind out of Queen Elizabeth's sails and grief slowly eroded her health. . Poor dear.. She is now reunited with her consort😢🙏🇬🇧🤴
I don't like to think of Prince Philip as being anything but a King. He was real true blue Royalty. He was far too good to be a Consort. I do love your comments though. They are very valid. I think this was an exceptional love affair like the ones you see only in fairy tales. One cannot possibly live without the other. They both compliment one another.
WOW!
Miss the Queen!
R.I.P. Queen Elizabeth II, you served your country and commonwealth for over 7 decades. Now god save the King Charles III
Beautiful gardens!
Balmoral is priceless
Balmoral, is beautiful. Thanks for sharing.🌹
It's a beautiful palace well maintained and worth seeing if possible
Very fabulous and relaxing place.
Rest in peace Queen.😭
Where did the art come from....my goodness!❤️❤️❤️👌🏾
Meghan has never visited Balmoral. She's been to Sandringham.
Exactly, she always refused to go to Balmoral
Who cares?
Out of date now after the ground floor internal rooms were opened up to visitors from 1st July 2024.
Absolutely fascinating! Congratulations!!
FYI the information is wrong
Just imagine Albert and Victoria arriving by horse and buggy! Phew
Not as good as a Ford Crown Victoria, but close.
Thank you for presenting this video
God bless us start and end your day with our ALMIGHTY GOD. THANKS
Thank you so much for the tour around the castle.
Beautiful!!!!
There is a wonderful video of the Queen taking her grandchildren pony riding at Balmoral.
The artwork is amazing 🙂
Very interesting and beautiful
Thanks for the tour, beautiful and enchanting! Booking a flight soon as part of my American family was from Aberdeen and came here in 1721, landing in Portsmouth, NH and fought in the Revolutionary War! Cheers from Yankee New England to "Merry Olde England", our allies and our motherland ever since the 1600s/1700s and the American Revolution and our hard won Independence! 1776, just 246 years ago, in the time frame of 1000 years, really not that long ago when you look at those numbers! ♥♥🍺
Just beautiful.
This one of my favorite Castles!
wow! Beautiful!
I could imagine that Queen Elizabeth did not take any great pleasure of Markle visiting her beloved castle. Also, King Charles should not open the castle to the public! No wonder The Queen loved this place, it is so beyond beautiful! Heavenly!
I want to see more interior shots in this video. Thanks for the tease.
Given the surrounding countryside, I would have loved to rent the cottage had I known - but maybe not so much now as the Queen is gone.
Fast forward to August, 2023 - and it doesn't look like "... Archie will be introduced to Balmoral Castle" any time in the near future
: (
Thank god
Never heard of this place till the queen passed. RIP Queen Elisabeth II 💐
Complimenti 👏🤗🐿️
very good historical letters. nice narration. thanks from Kerala India. I'm SAJI P VARGHESE.
Rest and peace Queen Elizabeth..💝💐🙏 condolences Royal family..💐💐
Why is it so important to mention that winger and cringer spent time at the castle and Archie will also be introduced to it ? Is haznoballs direct heir of queen Elizabeth?
There isn't any winger, cringer or haznoballs...how old are you anyway...time to grow up ds
I wonder how haunted that place is,with such a history.
AMAZING !!
When King Edward VIII abdicated so that he could marry Wallis Simpson, he still owned Balmoral and Sandringham, having inherited them in the usual fashion as first born from his father, George V, the year before, independent of his claim to the throne.
His brother and successor as king, George VI, was therefore obliged to buy both properties from him otherwise the Royal Family would have had no further use of them.
Strange that Charles is divorced and Camilla too - also Camilla is a Catholic - yet no mention of Charles abdicating ?
@@mrmensa1096 Camilla is anglican. Her first husband Andrew Parker Bowles is a catholic. They married in a Roman Catholic ceremony in the Guards Chapel, Wellington Barracks in 1973. Camilla did not convert to catholicism but their children were brought up in the catholic faith.
Were she a catholic, it would make no difference as the Succession to the Crown Act of 2013 allows those in the line of succession to marry catholics and the Act is retrospective in that respect.
A catholic consort might make the coronation ceremony a little awkward as roman catholics are instructed by their church not to partake of communion in anglican churches.
@@MrBulky992 - thank you for clearing that up. I'm a little wiser thanks to you. peace
@@MrBulky992 thank you x 🙏🌹❤
You've relived my increasing exhaustion.
I would love to visit the beautiful Balmoral Castle and beautiful Scotland 🏴 ❤🫶😇🙏💒👍☮️
Wonderful ❤️ ❤️
relatively accurate and good information, excluding the completely random and inappropriate interjection of Harry and his ghastly wife, whom, it shouldn't be forgotten was banned from Balmoral when HMTQ passed.
The picture in minute 8.06 to 8.10 is not Balmoral Castle. It is Castle Neuschwanstein, Bavaria, Germany, the dining room of the late King Ludwig II with Pictures and Furniture of the Lohengrin-Opera. Same alternativ Facts in minute 3:04 to 3:08.
I love Scotland.
I like looking at the grand Royal homes.
Fabulous!
It's nice to see some of the inside; I visited it with my late mother, but the public only get to see the ball room.
king charles wants to make it into a musem
Rest In Peace Ma'am ❤️🇬🇧
Rest in peace 😭 queen 👸 🙏
einfach traumhaft schön
Looks as if King Charles III is going to retain his own private home on the estate and give the castle to the nation and open it as a museum dedicated to his late mother.
Superb photography videos 📹 👌

Wanted to see inside of castle
Very nice.
Hi there hope you’re fine and staying safe..?
Thank you
Echoing an earlier comment...the interiors shown in this video are not of Balmoral Castle...they are at Eastnor Castle, home of the Hervey-Bathurst Family , built in the 1st quarter of the 19th century and Neuschwanstein Castle , built by King Ludwig 2 of Bavaria between the 1860's & 1880's...please do some proper research!
