Yes me too! It's so interesting and I have wondered why this is...I am so surprised others feel this way. It's so very interesting. When she says, Hi, it's Justine, I always smile and nod and she just identifying herself lol? gives a warm feeling, completely good. I wonder if part of iis....she is one of those rare people who is completely at ease with herself and what she believes and yet she's also completely authoritative and in charge while remaining wholly compassionate towards other and seeing everyone as her equal. It's a rare combination - compassion, sureness, authority, acceptance of others -- and completely beautiful, and I think somehow...all of those positive amazing qualities about her, somehow come through in just those three words of Hi, It's Justine...all that feeling is in those words...it's so interesting! The world's better for Justine, she's special and I love how she explains things and has the goal to make everyone feel better about themselves and life. :) x
You really are all about positivity Justine. It's not about making yourself fit the fashion, itself about finding fashions that fit you. I think this gets so lost in the mainstream, especially when it comes to dollars and consumerism. We're all being played to spend money to become somthing different when all we need to ever be is the best version of ourselves 😁💜👍
Yes, this. Positivity. And that's why I'd love to watch Justine commenting on different national/regional flavours of style. We all make these small observations when we travel, but it is hard to put it in a form that doesn't devolve into the snarky while still being entertaining. But Justine would be able to pull this off - I'm sure of it. And apropos this video, one thing I've noticed in Berlin (as an occasional tourist) is that older and older middleaged women tend to dress really nicely, and in very varying styles. You actually see simple unique (comfortable and practical) dresses on the street. Sometimes it is even a sort of anti-fashion: "I loved this dress from 1976/1982, so I asked a seamstress to make me a copy and then add a pocket big enough for a dog-leash". There also seems to be a tolerance (?) for ethno/tourist/folklore inspired stuff that really appeals to me, and somehow combines very well with a stricter "adult female" look without becoming "granny".
i'm not even into clothes and i wait for every video! it feels like i'm watching a documentary on bbc, well researched and informed, and also super fun :) nice job, justine, love it
same here! Justine, you are so wonderful. you actually make me care much more about fashion. I'm going to slowly buy the French capsule Wardrobe you recommend. thanks for a much needed channel!
Same as well. I'm not interested in what is current with fashion trends but I love finding out the tips on like washing clothes or choosing colours or cuts that are flattering to body types.
I think my body was changing already in my thirties, but it hit me when I turned 40, in the middle of the pandemic. I gained weight that I have not been able to get rid of. I was always thin naturally, being able to eat loads, but that changed, and I was not aware of how my body was going to react. I thought I just would get a belly, but it was no just that. To my surprise, the part that grew the most was the inner thighs. I tried to learn how to mend my existing clothes (to save money and be more sustainable) and how to sew gussets in my trousers by watching youtube videos and taking domestika courses but I havent been very successful. This process has made me appreciate how "sawing two pieces together" is a total different game from confection, and understanding how a fabric falls or behaves on the body. Taylors are so underrated. I appreciate more their skill and creativity, not for creating extravagant fashion designs, but, by using their knowledge to address and solve issues, like discussed in this video. There is a whole world in this topic to talk about. Also, when you mentioned about the clothes that makes us feel comfortable, it is hard to find clothes to feel warm without looking like wearing winter clothes. I am Mexican living in Scotland, and even though I've been living here for over 14 years, if Im stationery, I'm cold to the point of using wrist warmers in the summer when working. I've learned to look for lighter colours even if Im still wearing jumpers in sunny days, with thermals underneath, so I don't look so out of season. But it is a slow process. Any other ideas, please let me know. You are doing a great job. Didnt find the voting button, sorry.
Hello, Justine! I’m 53 years old, my hair is naturally medium brown. I spent many years dyeing it (because I love being a brunette) and, after months of observation and reflection, I decided to let them follow their natural course (in Brazil this is still not well seen). To live happily in this transition phase, I adopted a very short cut (which looks very good in me). I have always worn neutral colored clothing with light touches of bright colors (on necklaces, big rings, scarves). Due to the gray hair, I felt I needed to change something in my clothes, but I was not sure what. I've watched a lot of videos, and yours so far have been the best, because you're very objective, ethical, respectful and competent in the subject. With your help, I am studying my color palette and trying to use (like your aunt) more vivid, warm colors in larger pieces such as blouses, coats and medium bags. Colors like red, pink and turquoise blue. I’m feeling more "enlightened" (and consequently more secure), and the feedback I am receiving from people is very stimulating. Merci beaucoup! Bisous!
I believe your channel is growing so fast because you are so relate-able to so many women. You include all shapes and sizes and appeal to all ages. Wishing you continued success in all you do!
Frog Green My hair is silver and I still look really good in gray and black. I don't want to stop wearing gold jewelry because I prefer it over silver jewelry, so I won't make that change. And I find that I don't look good in cream any longer whereas when I had dark brown hair it was very flattering. Lavender and royal blue are my favorites and I'm glad because I didn't want to lose blue as an option.
Frog Green Totally agree about cream. Since letting my hair go grey I haven't worn any cream or beige. I just invested in a bright green jacket for Spring which is a colour I wouldn't have worn before but I'm getting so many compliments when I wear it. Turning grey is a fabulous excuse to update your wardrobe.
Yes thanks for this. me as well. was a dyed red red for 30 years . Brunette to start lol. Always loved the browns, beige, and golds stuff. Im white now and kinda lost. will try the rosegold
What a well framed discussion on changing body shapes. I am incredibly impressed by your diplomacy and ability to address fashion topics that can be a bit sensitive. So polished and positive-thank you.
Funny you mention arms as one of the biggest problem areas. I don't understand why it's so hard to find dresses with sleeves. It seems all the pretty cute stuff for summer is always sleeveless. From formal to casual they mostly are sleeveless. I really wish designers would gives us more options.
Word. Not to mention t-shirts. Why, why, why are there no women's t-shirts with elbow-length sleeves?!! Or 3/4 sleeves? Where did they go? Can we please have them back again?
Also if there are sleeves, they are often so tight! I have slightly chubby arms, although I'm not chubby in general and it's so hard to find sleeves that are not restricting.
Yes, even some winter dresses are sleeveless or off the shoulder. And too many summer dresses and shirts have cap sleeves or no sleeves. Too much of women's clothing needs tailoring, or another layer, or a scarf for coverage, or a jacket for warmth. We just want to get dressed easily.
As someone who hates shopping I have found intentional shopping in rebuilding a new wardrobe far more enjoyable. Thank you for your practical tips Justine!
Justine, I LOVE all your posts. I have been overweight and uncomfortable in my clothes forever, and u have given me the knowledge and freedom to validate me and like my clothes and style again. Thk you for all the helpful and practicle information. It's so refreshing to know the clothes need to work for me not the other way around :)
I love this. I know as I am trying to lose weight that finding clothes to wear is a concern while transitioning. I love how positive you are and that your goal as a designer is not to exclude, but to help women feel confident.
I like my gray hair and have also gone over to brighter tops because of it. Yet, my best ever top is (and always will be) a chambray denim shirt. With a tank under it (for summer) or a long sleeved T (in winter) I'm set. And, with gold or silver hoops I'm happy.
I had several "Ah ha" moments during this video! I never considered my body shape changes and hair color changes to be a couple of the reasons I've had difficulty with my wardrobe. I appreciate your lovely attitude and all of the hard work and research you share, it has helped me immeasurably.
A special video? Find a woman who wants to rebuild her wardrobe and take her shopping. Video the whole thing, her previous wardrobe, and talk about what works and what doesn't. Let her talk about what she wants to accentuate and what she wants to hide on her own body. Talk about her perfect colors for clothing. Find her skin tones and undertones. Go shopping with LOTS of explanations about HOW you're choosing clothes. Go to both expensive AND affordable clothing stores. Find an outfit that flatters for casual, work, etc. This would be GREAT. I want to see you in action! Hehe. Might be best to make it a series though, not try to squeeze it in one video. We need details. Even if you show an outfit being tailored especially for her.
you can find old episodes of "what not to wear" online. except for the participant being nominated for process and therefore initially often very unwilling, it's the same premise. but admittedly, watching Justine would be a far more pleasant experience... if you've seen show you'll know what I mean! :)
I know she is Germany... But eyy if she decide to do it...I am here in the east coast..Hahaha!! We can go to the thrift store as well.. In case my waller is in debt by that time.
Two excellent points I took away today: 1) Clothing is supposed to make us feel our best. Nothing more - it's just clothing - but nothing less - because clothing has the power to change our mood and appearance for the better. 2) We change. A lot. Our bodies change, and so do our jobs, hobbies, locations, climate, interests, budgets. It's useful to stop and reconsider everything we've thought are our personal 'rules' more often. Ideas? I think you'd do terrific things with a makeover, because you can choose ideas for that person's colors, figure and lifestyle needs very specifically. But you could also talk to us about why XYZ famous person looks better in this vs that outfit. How the hair or accessories make her look dressier/taller/shorter/wider in the shoulders etc. Justine-quality analysis, but on a specific person. Or a mannequin doll, as long as it's not a size 2. Anything you film, I enjoy seeing! Here's to 100,000! This is one time I'm glad I discovered a trend early.
Sanni Judy, very good summation! Now I understand why I, the fashion-phobe who hates buying clothes, have been binge watching this channel for the last five hours... :-) Your first point also explains a lot to me about myself. I notice that when my clothes are "right" I feel much better. Partly that is just a tactile thing (uncomfy clothes, who wants that?!), but it is also a social and esthetic thing.
I developed a new confidence since watching your videos. The practical advice has helped me overcome some dilemmas about style and shopping, as well as encouraged me to feel self worth about my choices. I cannot thank you enough for these gems of wisdom - they have literally changed my life!! I would like to see a video where you take several types of cloth and discuss how, why and what styles of clothing it best suits.
I got tired of dying my hair that was originally very dark brown/black and am now letting the gray grow. I am still struggling but have seen so many women look so wonderful that i am looking forward to the day when it is finally uniform in lenght. Thank you Justine.
This video is a very affirming thing for me. I have been doing what you describe, but blindly and unconsciously. Instead of celebrating the changes I have to make, I have been confused. I have been mourning the looks, fabrics, and styles that long suited me, but no longer do. It is as clear as day now that this is normal, and instead of a drag, you have now made it a fun adventure to redefine and refine my style a bit. Thank you.
Very good and useful channel. I love the sober style and the care towards the person as individuals. It is obvious you are a qualified professional. So much reliable than the wacky strident trend followers who pretend to know about all about fashion and beauty. So far I can only trust 2 channels and this is one of them. Thank you!
Justine, I have only been watching your channel and learning from you for maybe just over 1 week, I am so thankful for all you have spoken about! I have thrown out 4 garbage bags of clothes from my cupboard and am finally finding my style and feeling more comfortable with myself. Thank you xxx
Can you talk about this issue of what is "age appropriate" clothing for a woman in her 30s, 40s, 50s & beyond. As I have gotten older, I have actually made other women uncomfortable with my skirt length. I have great legs, I like shorter lengths, but I think because of my age (53) the younger girls around me have said, no. Some of them think my skirt is too short. I don't care what they think, I will wear short skirts as long as my legs are great, no? Etc. Would love to hear your thoughts on this issue of "age appropriate".
+Irene Mueller my answer is very clear: if you like your legs and if you like short skirts, go for short skirts. The benchmark should not be the "most conservative person in the room". Social codes matter in the social group in which you live, and your education (and the education of your peers) matters too, denying it would be naive, but within that range, what you wear is YOUR choice.
Great legs and you love shorter skirts? I always remember a classic rule - pair short skirt with longer sleeves, long skirt or pants with sleeveless tops. But I sense a darker reason... You most likely have kept yourself fit and in this day and age when even youth is overweight and opting for fast brands (and in the result look tacky) you intimidate them and they feel jealous of you and try to gang-bully you into covering up and shame your age.
I also think short skirts are a no-no for mature women. They can easily make anybody look gross, and mature women for sure... Beautiful legs show themself with longer skirts and trousers, too. With longer skirt I mean at least mid-thigh. Think about Robin Wright in House of Cards. She is 50 and she is absolutely stunning in her dresses and skirts. You can see her legs are perfect without the need to show them too much. She wouldn't be so sexy with a mini-skirt or shorts. They are just for girls and pornstars :P
Thank you Justine, for helping out so many women! Giving them hope and confidence :-) Just a tip for women (and men) who wonder about transitioning to grey. How I went through the transition to grey hair, is using non-permanent colours! After colouring the grey shines through the colour which can look beautiful, then the colour slowly fades, and the grey roots that appear after a while, are not very obvious because of the gradient. I still dye it sometimes with a non-permanent colour, sometimes I like my grey hair and don't dye it at all. My hair is long and strong, and it's nice to have some variations. You can also combine colouring with grey hair (low lights).
Love your view on grey hair. I decided to grow out my natural hair 6 months ago at the age of 39. There's grey, about 30%. Now I'm reinventing myself. 😉😊
This was a wonderfully positive video! When I was a teenager I would come home depressed from shopping because none of the clothes I liked fit my body and I felt it was my fault. No one had taught me how to dress my body type and it wasn't until I watched "What Not to Wear" that I was able to see it was the clothes that were the problem and that I was just picking the wrong styles and sizes. My body has changed a lot the past 4 years because I had two children and gained and lost a bunch of weight, but I'm much more confident shopping and finding styles that make me feel good.
I have been binge watching your videos today! So wonderful! As a 61 year "young" woman, I am finding something informative in each and every video. Merci!
My body changed when I became pregnant. I also became very sick and my body refused to respond to medical treatment. It lead to pre-eclampsia and ultimately the death of my baby and almost cost my own life. Afterwards, my recovery was very difficult and made more difficult due to ongoing medication and surgery. Since then my body has been my enemy; I'm trapped in a cycle of fatigue and not being able to exercise when I once was extremely active. Nothing in my wardrobe fits anymore and going to the store to take a size 18-20 item off the rail is demoralising when I used to wear size 14. Thank you for this message. It has made me feel better about where I am now. Subscribed.
You are truly one of the kindest and most helpful people in YT! Thank you! Making the switch from then to now can be difficult, and we’ll all make a mistake or two along the way. Accept and learn.
I used to love fitted clothes and show off my curves. Then I had my second child, gained 35 lbs which I haven't lost two years later. I hadn't even thought about how much my preferences have changed until I watched this video Justine, thank you. I'm going to streamline my wardrobe and only wear what I now feel comfortable with. I no longer feel comfortable with clothing being as fitted on my waist, which is still the smallest part of my body even with the weight gain nor am I comfortable with my bum not fully covered!! I just realized how little of my wardrobe I now wear, granted most of the pieces don't fit, but the style of mist of what I have no longer excites me. Thank you so much for sharing your observations mentioned in this video.
Hello Justine, I stumbled upon your channel some weeks ago. I have never been into fashion, or what I thought was fashion, because where I'm from, we tend to follow a highly prescriptive criteria and if you don't fit that, don't bother. But I have learned that that is not fashion, that is social oppression and trend following. I love that you say each person's uniqueness is the thing to work with and enjoy and celebrate. I have felt so disempowered about clothes all my life, thinking nearly everyone gets it and I just don't. And now finally at 45, I have found freedom in your ethical, inclusive, creative, fun, accessible, empowering, informative view of fashion. It's wonderful. Thank you so very much. Your videos are great too...clear, factual, critical, honest, warm, and inclusive, with an active input from viewers. It's very special. I love coming to your channel and exploring something that has been so painful and burdensome all my life and finding out how wonderful fashion can be as a positive expression of life. A video suggestion... What about enhancing our favourite aspects of our physique 😊
I have been waiting years for my body to be what I would like, but that hasn’t happened. I have not invested in my clothes as I didn’t want to waste money on clothing for a body I did not like. I loved this video and although being subscribed for a long time and having already watched this video before, tonight it struck a cord with me and I will embrace what I am now and enjoy clothing that make me feel good. Thank you Justine. Wishing you successful renovations.
I'm getting into my twenties now, and I needed this video. My proportions didn't really change, but I did. The cute short girly dresses I used to wear are too youthful and look a bit obscene on me now, but I am still struggling to find my new style. Thank you for this video!
I have been watching your videos for almost a year now, and this one is my FAVORITE! I truly feel like you want to help each individual who watches, and you are so sincere! I love your channel, and who you are! Thank you!
This is what I'm going through. I have an injury and it's hard to exercise and move much. So because of this and the meds I'm on, I've put on a lot of weight. Thank you for your videos!! Much love from New Zealand x
After 40-odd years of truly loving my natural hair colour (I've never coloured it), it is now starting to change. It's feels important to grieve a little; but then be practical, make a choice about how to work with it and move on. Thank you Justine for presenting the positives of grey hair as well as the simple option that it's OK to colour it. As women, I feel that we not only judge our aging features harshly, we judge ourselves for judging ourselves. Double whammy. I appreciate how you are so matter-of-fact about it all. Something about your tone of voice was so reassuring.
Thank you for all your videos-You are a breath a fresh air. Myself, I can hardly wait to go grey - I’m in that tricky transition period where I don’t quite have enough grey, but I look forward to my new hair color when it happens! There is a woman on Instagram called the silver stylist, 50 something fashion blogger, who has grey hair and uses purple shampoo to give her grey a purple cast - it looks AMAZING.
Found you at just the right time - now transitioning from whatever I was doing to whatever I'm going to do and didn't think I had so many options going forward. Suddenly getting older is much more exciting and elegant and distinguished than where I was heading. You do us all a great service to help us honor who we are rather than who we thought we should be. Thank you. You are unforgettable and the soul of Grace :)
Dear Justine, I don't have any specific feedback. I just want to say thank you. I find your videos to be very helpful and very honest. Thank you. I appreciate all that you do. Mary
one year ago I was so happy because finally for the first time in my life I had my normal weight... I thought I would celebrate my 60th birthday with a beautiful dress... ;) I was into a plant based diet and was fantastic... sadly in a way, 7 months ago I decided to stop smoking and ... and I have gained so much weight. I know it is brave what I am doing but it is so sad... all my life I was the fatty one... your video of course made me cry, but also made me think that it is my body at the moment and it will change again in some point... I will work with new cloth and not to try to fit in what I have... What I want to say is that at the end you gave me hope that I will feel and look much better if I dress my body with the shape I have now... and make it conscious... Thank you very much Justine... :)
I'm almost 3 months postpartum and still not fitting into my old clothes and with wider hips now and bigger greats because of nursing, I may never. This is super helpful and encouraging. You are right how fashion really helps solve problems, the day I decided to buy a few new clothes for this new body I was already on my way to feeling better and more positive!
Dear Justine, I am 58 years old and have lost a lot of weight in the last year. I have had to get rid of all my old clothes and am trying to buy a new wardrobe which makes me feel confident and show my better shape. however I have a lot of excess skin on my belly which means I am having to cover this up and am wearing long tunic tops but these do not really show off my improved waist, my son says I now have an hourglass figure when for years I never had a waist at all. it's just so hard to find a new style. thank you for your advice I now have more ideas about where to start thinking about trying new shapes and colours! I just need to be patient and find a style which suits me! your channel is wonderful and so Helpful!
Hi Justine, thanks for this video. My body changed so much through pregnancy, breastfeeding, and now post-baby. Even though I'm now the same weight as before the baby, everything has shifted around and none of my old clothes fit the same! Not to mention the lifestyle changes...
hi Justine! my experience was I went up 6 sizes i kept my original sized clothes thinking i would be able to fit them again sometime but the fact is I just got curvier, i wont be able to. an important tip is to probably give your clothes from your old body to friends/family or donate them. it made me feel sad seeing them in my closet knowing I cant wear them. But after getting rid of those and updating my wardrobe with clothes that really do fit and make me look good, I now realize I am happy with the size I have become. filling a wardrobe full of clothes that make me look and feel good made sense.
Thank you so much for this video! After having our 2 children, my body changed drastically and has taken me a long time to become comfortable with where I am now. -Leslie
What a godsend you have been and are for me. I am largely housebound due to chronic illness but want to look as nice as I can at age 68. I learn something new each time I watch providing a timely and uplifting distraction from impaired health. . Thank you so much.
Hi Justine, recently found your channel and love your format and you concentrate on giving informative info. I used to be a size 8 and since suffering with severe anxiety and depression and stopped work and going out of the house regularly, I am now more of a 12 (UK). I wear the same types of clothes everyday (baggy jumper and skinny jeans) despite the fact that I don't even really like how that looks. I have plenty of other clothes in my wardrobe wishing and hoping one day I'll fit into them again, but for the meantime they are just taking up space. I have large calfs and rather large saddlebags.. so maybe the jeans I am wearing aren't the most flattering, but they are they only ones I like (to look at). I haven't worn a short sleeve top / tshirt in at least two years even in summer because my arms are very fatty and fleshy, but again the long sleeved tops I have just accentuate this and I end up wearing my uniform baggy jumper and skinny jeans again. Loving your colour theory videos too, I am trying to work out mine at the moment because I can never seem to get the right foundation and because I have anxiety I don't feel comfortable asking to get matched or even going over to a Makeup counter. Thank you for reading this if you did 😊 xxx
Girl. I wanna take you you shopping and do your makeup. I have been a bit depressed myself the last two years, because money isn't what it was. You can do little things to perk up your mood. Make a friend date for lunch or coffee. It'll force you to freshen up and motivate you to be social. I have three ladies that I meet once or twice a week to walk, hike, climb with. It makes me tidy up my brows and throw some lip gloss on, even though we are only working out together.Your "elephant herd", as we call our friends who support us, is so important to our well being. Best of luck from Arizona...
I like the approach that you use for your videos. You're good at explaining things in a way that someone who knows nothing about fashion or design can understand. I also appreciate that the focus of videos like these is on feeling good in your clothes. Everyone's got something that they're insecure about, and as you've said a number of things can happen that may cause a "new" body shape and it's important to acknowledge that. I can't speak for men, but I think that this is something that women are often embarrassed about and are maybe even shamed for.
Hi, Justine! Thank you for creating so many helpful videos! I’ve started using some of your tips and already fell a bit more confident. - As a designer, please create bias cut skirts in a woven non clingy fabric and straight leg trousers. They are so much more flattering than skirts with gathered or pleated bands and skinny jeans that don’t flatter everyone. Please consider creating some videos on: - dressing when dealing with a disability or after an injury and using a walking aid like a brace. For example, how do canes or walkers relate to accessories? - how to style hair accessories (headbands, sticks barrettes, braids, etc.) - How can women who can only wear supportive non pointy toed flats can stretch a bit still look stylish? 2. What necklines, and trouser cuts flatter different body types? 3. More about wearing different styles and colors of accessories like bracelets and earrings to flatter or help disguise. Best wishes for continued success with your UA-cam channel and your fashion lines. 💕
I love to sew and because of sewing I see my body differently. It is fun to tailor an outfit to hide things and emphasize others. I don't worry about the size I am any more, but I do care about fit, style and how something works with the rest of my wardrobe. I love your videos because I am learning so much that is helping with my own makes. I love your clothing line, too. Well done.
I just stumbled upon your channel two days ago. This particular video is SO incredibly helpful. I underwent major surgery 9 months ago, and I feel like my body is not my own (it has changed so much). I found/find myself bewildered as I look at my closet and drawers and feel that I cannot fit into or wear my clothing anymore because my shape is so completely different. And the few items I have purchased since then have been made based on what USED to look flattering on me. The input and insight you've offered has been like a candle in a dark cave for me: I have felt so unattractive and discouraged. I feel like I have direction now. I am so, so grateful. Please, keep these videos coming. I will watch every single one. ❤
i had this issue when i gained weight. what she said is true that you should dress for your current body and not the style that you are used to. Since i changed my clothing style i felt more confident about myself because my clothes fit well and complements my body shape ( im an hour glass plus size ). Justine is sharing so much information and its amazing,. all her videos are very informative. Keep it up :*
Thanks again so much. Thanks too for including things for the "mature woman (70)" especially the information in your other videos on greying hair. I love mine but it isn't greying fast enough for me so my hair stylist is helping a bit. I am also a watercolor artist and have enjoyed all of you fashion drawing videos. Also I lived in Germany 🇩🇪 for 5 years when Berlin was a divided city during the early ,80s. I still return about every 2 years.
Justine darling you are fabulous! this type of fashion education is just what I needed. I'm 58 and I want to dress my age appropriate, I was a young girl in San Francisco during the 60's and I feel like I'm still a hippie at heart. However I don't want to look silly. I'm finding your channel has helped me along, and this video is wonderful. I have no doubt that you will reach 100k very soon my dear. I'm so glad it's spring here in California.
Your videos are my favorite; useful information combined with a manner which is kind and approachable~Not a pinch of snobbery or judgment anywhere; fun, intelligent, and practical fashion tips.
Justine, I love you, love your channel. I've shared your channel with my daughter and she's enjoying you. You're a beautiful woman with confidence and wisdom. Thank you for continuing to teach us and encourage us in our lives. I am 54 years old and have curly, salt & pepper hair and I've never had as many compliments on my hair in my life as I have had now. Thank you for giving us silver girls a thumbs up! I still like to wear black, white, silver along with turquoise, teal, and eggplant.
I had the same reaction as your Mum when I found silver in my hair. Finally people will take me seriously! So much emphasis is placed on looking youthful, and yet youth has vary little say in the big issues that *actually* shape our world (they would argue this, I'm sure). Why not celebrate confidence and wisdom, and let the young be young?
One grey hair sometimes adds more years than you actually are) I got my first grey hair at 25 and I wasn't happy to celebrate my aging before I fully enjoyed my youth))
I think this trap is intentional for women. I will not listen to you little girl! Ah now you are not a girl you are an old hag who is invisible or resented.
Yes! My body is changing and I am at a loss. I absolutely hate trying on clothes when shopping! I hope you do more of this tips and tricks to hide what we don't like. I just subscribed!! Thank you.
Your videos are so motivating. Its 3rd day of watching your videos and seriously I can feel myself getting comfortable in my skin. I have put on weight recently and was having trouble with my clothes for almost over 6 months. I started the change with buying new underwear and 2 loose clothes and it has been 2 peaceful days in last 6 months where I was not constantly looking and my tummy and irritated with digging bra belt.. Wish you lot of love and Thank you very much 😇
This was an excellent video regarding a woman's changing body due to circumstance, age, etc. Now I can reevaluate my closet and curate it for my new era in life, 63 years young!
I like the little writing when you're introducing a new topic :) I also think that the way we treat our body matters (hair removal, moisturising, exfoliating, exercising, hydrating) - sometimes I might be feeling like my clothes don't sit on my well but all I needed to do was build the confidence from within & on my skin.
I can't believe how difficult this is! I am losing weight, which is fabulous, and it is definitely intentional. I'm literally afraid of shopping for clothes. I've never felt comfortable shopping, but I need to try things on.
I've been watching you for a while now and I almost wish I'd just found you so I could binge watch all of your videos again. You're always so helpful and non-judgmental. I truly love how you make fashion something so inclusive! I wear plus sized clothes and modeled, as a plus size model doing all runway, no print. But even still, while I wear exactly what makes me happy, I still didn't feel like there was a place for me in the fashion world because I'm not a size 2. (American) I really do love clothes and putting together the bohemian type of outfits I love to wear, but didn't consider that as a larger size, I could say, "I enjoy fashion" and not have people snicker. You're so refreshing, and your videos are so informative. I LOVED learning about fashion with a conscience! I'm vegan and only use truly, entire process, cruelty free Cosmetics and skin care, and I like more indie brands. I'm happy to learn how to extend that same kind of consciousness to my clothing choices. Thank you!
I've recently discovered your channel and I think it's wonderful! Great information from someone who very obviously knows what she's talking about! Subscribed and definitely will follow.
Ah, the paradox. I was skinny, carefree and unaware of fashion and rules when I was younger and I belive everything looked good. Now I am self conscious aaand very interested in shapes, clothes, fabrics, colors... and not everything looks good on me now. I don't belive in "age appropriate", but now I don't feel comfortable in any thing, I have to choos according to the body that I now inhabite :) Great video!
Here's my 100.000 subs video idea: a snapshot or elaborate look at your Spring collection, it would be great to see your work. P.S. Thanks for this particular video, applied to me personally. Thanks for reassurance and encouragement. I am seeing fashion in a new way because of what you're doing here, true fashion therapy!
I feel so warm and comfortable when she says:"Hi, it's Justine" and smiles
Idk why
I love her
She’s so authentic
Soo true
me also
Me too,it is weird
I studied fashion and what I love about you is your lack of pretentiousness. I think your videos are brilliant.
There also seems to be a tolerance (?) for ethno/tourist/folklore inspired stuff that really appeals to me, and somehow combines very well with a stricter "adult female" look without becoming "granny".

i'm not even into clothes and i wait for every video! it feels like i'm watching a documentary on bbc, well researched and informed, and also super fun :) nice job, justine, love it
thanks thanks!
Dora Kalmar well said
Same. I could not care less about clothes or fashion, but I just love seeing people being passionate and engaged in what they love.
Bisous!
I love that you have included the emotional aspect around clothes and not just the fit. We all dress the way we feel!
I believe your channel is growing so fast because you are so relate-able to so many women. You include all shapes and sizes and appeal to all ages. Wishing you continued success in all you do!
+Rose Wells thank you so much! 💙
Good attitude about getting silver hair! I am 52 and gave up grey and black clothes, darkblue is stunning with blon- silver now! And rosegold jewelry.
thanks for sharing your tips!
Frog Green
My hair is silver and I still look really good in gray and black.
CHIC FIFTY50
Actually I said that about cream:).
What a well framed discussion on changing body shapes. I am incredibly impressed by your diplomacy and ability to address fashion topics that can be a bit sensitive. So polished and positive-thank you.
Love your realistic, non-judgemental attitude. Especially towards dying your hair.
@@Asptuber J. Crew has.
Amy Mags exactly.
As someone who hates shopping I have found intentional shopping in rebuilding a new wardrobe far more enjoyable. Thank you for your practical tips Justine!
Your language is so inclusive and kind.
You are the John Lennon of fashion! "There are no problems, only solutions!"
And congrats for getting more and more subscribers day by day. Keep it up
thanks!
Thank you for being so body positive - we don't get enough of that over here in America!
That would be Awesome!,,,, normal size 10 to 14 maybe . I am such a visual learner
That would be Awesome
V Betta is
you can find old episodes of "what not to wear" online. except for the participant being nominated for process and therefore initially often very unwilling, it's the same premise. but admittedly, watching Justine would be a far more pleasant experience... if you've seen show you'll know what I mean! :)
I know she is Germany... But eyy if she decide to do it...I am here in the east coast..Hahaha!! We can go to the thrift store as well.. In case my waller is in debt by that time.
Two excellent points I took away today:
1) Clothing is supposed to make us feel our best.
Well, you summarized this video better than I did... hahaha :-D
Sanni Judy, very good summation! Now I understand why I, the fashion-phobe who hates buying clothes, have been binge watching this channel for the last five hours... :-)
Your first point also explains a lot to me about myself. I notice that when my clothes are "right" I feel much better. Partly that is just a tactile thing (uncomfy clothes, who wants that?!), but it is also a social and esthetic thing.
Brilliant summation! If your mirror, or your clothing aren’t making you happy maybe you need to make some changes. You alone possess that power.
Du hast eine wunderbare Art, das Thema Mode nicht zu etwas Oberflächlichem zu machen, sondern dem Thema Tiefe zu geben. Danke Dir!
Love your suggestions as a woman of 58, I am reconsidering my colors and shapes of my wardrobe. Thanks for your suggestions.
Thank you!
thank you for this big compliment!
What is the other channel you like Olga
Shelley Auld the other channel is Aly Art. It is more oriented to make up.
Yes, go visit her channel and she will tell you how to send her a dollar or two....hhhhhmmmmmmm
Great answer! So true :)
They are just for girls and pornstars :P
maybe you'd better define 'short'....above your fingertips if your arms are straight by your side? or just an inch or two above the knee?
Thank you Justine, for helping out so many women! Giving them hope and confidence :-)
Just a tip for women (and men) who wonder about transitioning to grey.
Lisa, what non permanent color do you use? What brand? Thank you.
You are smart, sensitive and educated in the topic you present and that's why I watch your videos. I am well past 70.
Your is the only stylist i watch...your so down to earth and very easy to adapt to my life at 70 i wont be defined by my age.
I could happily listen to you all day. You offer such positive advice & treat all scenarios with an 'any problem can be solved' attitude. Thank you x
your honesty, simplicity and individuality make you who you are.dont ever change Love.😍😍😍😘😘😍😍
Justine your pragmatic approach to your passion is truely geniune and your content is truely high quality and easy for me to utilise. Thank you
I have been binge watching your videos today!
What about enhancing our favourite aspects of our physique 😊
this video is perfect. No one else has ever explained how to dress when your body changes. thank you!
+Dana Bryant a friend of mine who has children raised the question... I couldn't find a video about it so I did one 😊
What I like about this channel is tht Justin isn't selling anything. Just giving good advice
Justine, you should really write a book on this subject. You really rock on this!
Thank you!
♥ from Hamburg. I love your videos because you are so down to earth and explain fashion concepts in a simple way.
ohhh hi Hamburg!
This is what I'm going through.
I have an injury and it's hard to exercise and move much. So because of this and the meds I'm on, I've put on a lot of weight.
Thank you for your videos!!
Much love from New Zealand x
Jo Julian knew your problem you’re not alone I have the same. Greetings, Vivien Wizi 😘
Justine I love how inclusive, understanding and easy you make things. Live long and prosper ;)
Dear Justine,
I don't have any specific feedback.
Justine..you are very helpful and genuine!
God bless
Mrs.O
My problem zone is my belly, after two c sections. I have a selfimage of my pre pregnancy shape and get frustrated when clothes dont fit
Hi Justine, thanks for this video. My body changed so much through pregnancy, breastfeeding, and now post-baby. Even though I'm now the same weight as before the baby, everything has shifted around and none of my old clothes fit the same! Not to mention the lifestyle changes...
I love the way you are so positive and supportive of people. Keep up the good work, I love your videos.
Justine thank you very much! all your videos are perfect and very useful thank you.
thanks!
hi Justine! my experience was I went up 6 sizes i kept my original sized clothes thinking i would be able to fit them again sometime but the fact is I just got curvier, i wont be able to. an important tip is to probably give your clothes from your old body to friends/family or donate them. it made me feel sad seeing them in my closet knowing I cant wear them. But after getting rid of those and updating my wardrobe with clothes that really do fit and make me look good, I now realize I am happy with the size I have become. filling a wardrobe full of clothes that make me look and feel good made sense.
So many great ideas, beautifully presented. Love your low-key, professional and positive approach.
Such a comfort - especially as we age
Please consider creating some videos on:
- dressing when dealing with a disability or after an injury and using a walking aid like a brace. For example, how do canes or walkers relate to accessories?
- how to style hair accessories (headbands, sticks barrettes, braids, etc.)
- How can women who can only wear supportive non pointy toed flats can stretch a bit still look stylish?
I appreciate your straight forward approach to discussing all the elements of fashion so we can all make a good appearance! Thank you so much!
I love how quickly your channel is growing. So happy for you; I will continue to be a loyal viewer. Eloquent, concise, informative content.
You’re such a genuinely sweet and kind person xxx it’s so apparent in your videos ... ps thanks for all the amazing tips ;)
Your videos are my favorite; useful information combined with a manner which is kind and approachable~Not a pinch of snobbery or judgment anywhere; fun, intelligent, and practical fashion tips.
+Carin Johnson thank you very much 😅
You read my mind with this video !!! Much needed for all women!
I like how you just go straight to the point.
+kurliigurlii thanks 😊
+Mary Louise Edwards good luck & have fun 😃👍
I watch your videos just to see you grin and laugh...
Your tips are right up my alley...they're useful, thanks much.
+Sofia Castro Luz you make a very good point!
Thank you!
your smile is everything
I've recently discovered your channel and I think it's wonderful! Great information from someone who very obviously knows what she's talking about! Subscribed and definitely will follow.
Ah, the paradox. I was skinny, carefree and unaware of fashion and rules when I was younger and I belive everything looked good. Now I am self conscious aaand very interested in shapes, clothes, fabrics, colors... and not everything looks good on me now. I don't belive in "age appropriate", but now I don't feel comfortable in any thing, I have to choos according to the body that I now inhabite :) Great video!
You are a wonderful teacher. Thank you for all the information and your non-judgmental attitude!
I just transitioned to gray hair last year. Thank you for addressing the colors that work best with gray. It was very helpful.
Justine, you've grown tremendously since you started. Thanks for all you do! Happy day
thanks & have a great day too!!
