Great job on the Hillman hunter rally car. When I was 18 learning to drive my cousin used to let me drive her brand new Hillman Hunter what a great car to drive when you were young brings back many great times.
Hi Philip, yes thay can be very complicated at times ,must have been hard work on the factory floor when these came down the line. All the best Martin 👍
Excellent restoration Sir. I have just started to restore and convert a Corgi Hillman Hunter to a standard car which I will respray gold, to match the very first car I owned. Thank you for your video
Hi Martin, just watched this one (in real time, all the way!), what a transformation!, if I'd seen the original on a flea market it wouldn't have got a second look, great job, take care, Stewart.
Thanks Stewart, once you got the paint of it wasn't so bad ,the thing was it was mostly complete and had good glass ,witch saved me a few quid and saved the model . All the best martin
That has a lot of detail for a small model. You did a fantastic job to restore it, to it's previous glory. My old dad used to do a lot of miniature stuff. He made a simple tool out of a cocktail stick (toothpick) with a ball of bee's wax on the end. He used that for picking up jewels and small parts to put them into position. You might find it better than tweezers.
That sounds like a plan jester, I have a wax placement pencil for photo etch ,but it's not great for the jewelled head light . Better find me some bees 😃. Best wishes martin
Thanks Martin for your highly detailed narrations through out the video. Really enjoyed this resto. Great casting. Not seen it before. Excellent finish. Love it
Highly detailed video martin, well worth spending time watching it. Very much appreciated mate. Yet another brilliant resto. Thanks for taking the time to make these Highly enjoyable uploads.
G day Martin I always watch till the end can't get enough. Wow ye old Hillman Hunter it turned out great my wife's uncle has a white one he lives in Perth Western Australia we went for a visit a few years ago and he drove us around sight seeing in it. He loves his old cars he has an old Saab as well he took the gear box apart and when he was finished he had 2 spare bolts left over he never did find out where those bolts were supposed to go lol. beautiful old cars probably worth something now days. Stay safe mate.👍
Thanks Geoff ,glad you liked it ,iam going to try and get another one but do it as a normal car . Great to hear there are still some on the road 😀 Have a great weekend my friend
Hi Martin what an amazing job all that work just shows the effort all you restorers go to for us to watch. It all looked good quality on this model, especially the glass and the seats. Best wishes from Ian & family.
Cheers Ian ,I was lucky with the parts all being there especially the window unit, the decals were of good quality aswell 👌 I will look for another on so I can do a standard build with it 😀 Have a good Sunday regards to the family 👪
Another enjoyable restoration video, Martin. I remember my dad had a Hillman Minx, a similar model to the Hunter. Thanks for your interesting, and light hearted, commentary and for taking the time to explain the intricate details of how you remove and replace various parts. That's very helpful to those of us who are still learning. Looking forward again to your next video, take care, keep safe, and very best wishes. Peter.
I had no idea that there were different Take Off jack mechanisms! I had a look at the Mini Marcos (though I have not finished it), but I wonder why they were not all the same? Too many decals: I'd have given up on that frustration! And an incredibly random sticker displacement. I thought I'd sent you a full set of the Hunter Minilites: I'll have a rake around and see if there are any more in the parts bin. Really nice job: I'd be delighted with that result! I drove Hunters, Minxes, Sceptres, Alpines, Rapiers and Vogues from time to time - great gearbox: crisp, for its day. And the Rapier H120 could give a hot Capri a run for its money!
Thanks Fraser, yeah there was a lot of stickers, I was running out of room. There was a full set of minilites but unfortunately they were to smaller diameter and looked wrong 😕 I remember those days were you could buy the old classics for next to nothing ideal for going to work and back blanket over the engine on frosty nights 🌙. Thanks for watching and I will see you next week.
Martin, you did a great job with that, even down to the silver door handles. I've gone a little bit further with mine by painting the lettering on the wings, bonnet and boot. One point, and I don't think you noticed, is that the pentagon on the toolbox should be rotaed by 90°.
Hi Martin another nice job done on that one just one thing your Chrysler sticker on the toolbox looking at the car from the rear .the left-hand side of the sticker needs to be at the bottom so have two points on the bottom and one point on the top sorry to point that out to you . Looking forward to next week's one stay safe Ralph Cooling

Sorry small correction; the black plastic thing is a roll bar or part of a roll cage (an anti-roll bar is a suspension component). Sorry to be a pedant. I am glad that it was not me trying to re-assemble all the components - its next rally might have been the 'Tour through the shed window'.
Hi Martin, great job you do there. I am on process of doing a similar restoration. I have a scrap corgi mustang that happens to have the same lights that the hillman got ( tiny diamonds). @@martindaredare Thanks! Never found a trace of that porsche... I need one now tho!😀
Came out great. Looked remarkably complete considering the condition it was in. Hope to find one of these myself, but they always go for mental money.

@@martindaredare You should be able to get a kangaroo from Ebay. I'm sure there are some on just now.
You could have put lights in when chassis is on🤔
Good idea 💡
Okay then.
Thanks ivor
I know it’s right but that bull bar looks totally out of place, think I might have painted it black
Yes I would say you are right on that score .
