Great tips for newcomers. I would suggest also to avoid disrespecting or joking (as you may do in UK) about the Thai Royal Family. It could ruin your holidays.
I think things are changing there, though, as last trip, in Feb and Mar, I went to the cinema and nobody stood during the Thai national anthem. That was a first for me and I think a sign of a general decline in love for the royals.
Good newbie advice list Trev. First timers I do suggest staying in Central Pattaya, there are a few sois off 2nd Rd in the center that are quiet. Important to be on the Baht bus route. Daytime, lots of things to do, such as beach chair/umbrella time and for sure try some foot massages in the comfy chairs inside the AirCon shops. Money, bring crisp large bills such as $100 (better rates) and use the yellow exchange kiosks (no need for ATM) as needed. Yes to keeping small money in separate pocket. You will always need the smaller bills for street food, rides, etc.
@@GioMixMusic the road KTK is on is my favourite place to stay, many options of hotels. Can walk to soi 6 or even free taxi from hotel. You are spot on about returning home, I lasted a whole 2 days before booking a return, then the countdown begins again. Using Line app and having a video call helps 138 days until I Buzzin!
Great tips. Totally agree about booking the next trip as soon as you can when you get home. Set aside the vacation at work, book the best flight, get your favorite hotel. I like that fold the 500 and 1000 baht to keep them easy to see, plus put some extra money in another pocket. I almost ran out of money one day when I was out on Koh Larn, just barely had enough to take the ferry back.
Thanks as always Trevor, great informative video. I'm actually heading to Thailand today for the 4th time this year. I was a bit disappointed during my 3rd trip due to all the money and materialistic nature of the lady, but Thailand is still my favorite destination and provides much more value for my money and fun. - You're so right about the tip of separating your bills, especially at the clubs😢😢😢😢 - I will visit most of these entertainments you mentioned during the day to keep my trip more fun and exhilarating.
Great info Trevor. I will keep it all in mind if I'm ever able to visit Pattaya again. Thank you. Good health & happiness to you and your's my friend🙏😊.
Some great tips there Trev. Was out last week and popped in to the Lounge to see you, missed you again for the second holiday running! Have to say the bar is great, really good service and very friendly people, both staff and customers, so will definitely be coming in again next time out I'm in November. Re the Ladyboys, had a great laugh and chat with one on Saturday on Soi 7 who had been calling for me to come in for a drink all week without the grabbing and pulling about of some other bar staff on the Soi who literally tried to drag me in more than once! Thought I owed her a drink for the respect shown in the approach. I did get propositioned but my usual get out line works really well without causing any offence which is that I have a partner back home who I am faithful to and thanks for the offer which is really flattering. Nobody loses face and everyone parts on good terms

To beat the boredom, I walked, explored different areas. Really enjoyed it. 100% will return next year. Right now learning basic Thai using a language audio and book, definitely will help me in my next Thailand trip. ❤❤❤
Great advice. When I visit, I go to the gym, walk around a lot (so much to see and is healthy), I go to bars and I only drink diet cokes, I like to try new restaurants (there are thousands), I like to check out new hotels for my next stay. There is just so much to do, especially if you are staying for less than 30 days.
Medical insurance, important, hospitals here are a 'business' before anything else and before you know your bill will amaze you. Also if staying longer term and your room/condo etc is plus electricity, always ask to see your meter for the room, take a photo of it with your phone and as the rate, domestic rate is about 4 baht and business rate about 7 baht, if there is no meter for your room, you're going to get scammed. Also if considering staying long term, always book 1 month first in case you don't like it or noisy etc, if you pay long term up front and you dont like it you will not get your money back, also if there's any damage they will very quickly keep any deposit, blaming you for the damage.

My number 1 tip that trev failed to Mention - after the First Lady drink that you have bought her - if you are interested in her - you should or must ask her if she barfines - she will be honest - so if she wants to potentially leave the bar with with you she will say yes she barfines - if she doesn’t want to leave the bar with with you to join you to continue partying or go back to your room ( ahem ) - she will say no she does not barfine -!than she is a drink queen and imo you should leave her be - it’s like being rejected back home - why would you continue to buy her drinks - exactly you wouldn’t- so cut her loose and move on the next one - there’s always another girl in that bar or the next one that will be interested in you - don’t get discouraged
I found the opposite. I would sit with a girl and have quite a few drinks and then if I did not barfine her she would become annoyed. I’m also talking about buying 7 or 8 lady drinks here when they were getting none. I found girls are now very pushy for bar fines. I think an issue is that they are now competing with Thai Friendly and other dating sites.
The "don't kick off with the locals" pointer can never be repeated enough. Doesn't matter if it is Thailand or the Philippines, it's not going to end well for the _farang_ who gets into it with a local. Holy crap can it ever go pear-shaped fast!
Buzzin have to say how can anyone get bored daytimes lol.....even if you dont wake up to 11am get down the beach for starters whether Wongamat Jomtien or Pattaya....(the upgrades to Pattaya becah last couple years have been outstanding compared to decades past)
Most important tip at all in my opinion: Don't fall in love with any Pattaya (bar, massage or freelancer) girls, it can ruin not just your holiday: Pay for play and leave....sounds easy, but can be very hard !!
I find the easiest way to not fall in love with a Thai bar girl is take a trip down to Bangkok and go shopping for the day at one of the major shopping malls. The Pattaya girls suddenly look a bit ordinary after that trip.

Excellent as ever Trev. Coming to see some rain in June and experience the low season. Hopefully enough sun to get a tan and an abundance of ladies without the hoards. Just one question about mozzies... are they worse around June time as they seem to like me more than the girls do. 😁
Very good advice. Always be respectful to everyone and laugh along with their jokes. Especially if you are accosted by 2 lady boys at 3am in the morning, showing a playful sense of humour can defuse a situation.
The first time i came to Pattaya i hardly did any exploring. I made up for that once i did see your videos and that encouraged me to get out there and explore. I used to keep my Thai money in 1 bundle and i allways was mixing up the 100 and 1000 baht bills. They look so alike.. Lol.😅
That comment about the baht bus made me think about when I was a kid, still in the UK in Ipswich. I would get the bus and ride it a bit, it was a bit of an adventure when you're only eight years old. I think the tickets were about tuppence ha'penny. :-)
Trev im I enjoy a beer or two in the morning as I get up early are their bars that open in the morning. Great tips im on my second note book for when I come out. Thanks Tony
Worst time was when i arrived home to a cold and gray weather days on end. got depression. cured it in few days by volunteering, serving food to homeless people, going to the gym and riding my motorbike...
You will find with Baht buses that the driver will often decide that you have gone far enough with them and kick you out - don't worry about it, just get out and grab the next one. I found this to be true going down Beach Road and turning down Second Road. Tends to happen more when you are one of the last few on the bus when it turns the corner.
@@Buzzinpattaya Happens most at the start of Second Rd - they all line up and fill the back bus in the queue, then the next one waits to fill up. It's no big deal - after all it's only 10 baht , but it does happen. Go down there & watch it.
They regularly kick everyone out at turnaround points, usually so the driver can take a toilet break etc, but they wouldn't kick one person out and leave others on the bus.
Set a budget for breakfast to dinner and separate budget for entertainment and stick to it. Everything is cheaper than home and so it becomes easy to spend and it adds up quicker than you realize. Many guys cut their holiday short because they got sucked in to over spending. Learn to say no, its ok and wont offend. TAT should pay you for this channel, its a valuable resource for new visitors to Pattaya.
Good info. I prefer Jomtien, as it's much more relaxed and it's easy to get the baht bus up to Pattaya. Regarding tourists who go to Thailand for cosmetic surgery or other medical procedures, is legitimate insurance cover available in Thailand, please, in case something goes wrong?
i keep on surviving the trip 1-2 times per year however cant say the same thing about my wallet... -RIP wallet- all fun and jokes, my recommendation is to plan on how many you are welling to spend for the trip or even plan on how many you are oki to part with daily, for me 200$-250$ is enough /day for training (Muay Thai every other day), food, entertainment and fun at night time. great reminder sir Trevor for people who are planing to come to Thailand. 5 months to go before heading to the play ground again.
Also, I’d add set a nightly budget..Test the waters depending on what type of person you are..Go out with 6,000 baht then go out with maybe 1,000 baht. And just make a assessment. I know for me I had more than enough fun and got pretty wasted my first trip for only 800-1000 baht that’s roughly 27 bucks USD. That’s with bar hopping in walking street and tree town baht bus food etc.
ALL, are great tips I have always mentioned that I folded my 500s and kept my 1 thousands separate. Especially in dark bars or under Black Lights. Yes, tourists are welcome in Thai bars BUT i would say take your time and look around The same rules in your country apply here too. Do not hit on a girl who has a Thai boyfriend. seems obvious but some fools think that they are the most desirable and they would be mistaken!
I use Bolt in Thailand but the last Bolt I got was from Pattaya to Bangkok airport. I had fallen asleep and I had just started to wake up and the taxi was pulling over on the inside lane of the motorway and he got out climbed over the barrier and went and got a Coke whilst the traffic was flying down the motorway. Also taking about Thai girls saying what they think I was in Buzzin Lounge and one girl was talking to another and calling her an elephant. If that happened in England it would kick off 😂
I believe the sunscreen issue is only in the national parks, so it shouldn't be an issue at the airport or in Bangkok or Pattaya. A few sunscreens use chemicals that they want to keep out of these parks (including sea reserve areas), but only applies to a few products. Worth googling if you plan to visit the national parks.
Remember my first time stayed Pullman North Pattaya. Nice hotel and for anyone looking at quieter areas, certainly up North is. Second time Avani, I think that's when I realised just how compact & easy to get to everywhere. From there went looking for Treetown, so easy now. On way to Treetown pass everywhere, Soi Pothole, LK Metro, Soi Buakhao etc. From that position at Avani & Amethyst areas, only 20 mins walk to walking street & areas are great. My biggest wake up was tipping. On my first visit, to give 100 baht tip everywhere was just normal for me. However, to splash money so much can come across as bragging. Tip by all means 30 to 50, acting like money no object can be annoying to some. I remember went in a bar in Pattaya, tried to tip 100 to this girl serving me, was actually at Buzzin Bar. Got hand slapped, she put 100 back in my wallet & took 20.
If waitress is ugly I tend to tip them more. I’m guilty of tipping one 140 baht this trip there was no way a guy was going to barfine her or buy her a drink.
Having lived in Pattaya for almost 3 years, this 100% on point. With the ladyboys, I would tell them I'm on my way back to my room where my gf is waiting for me. Then I would compliment them on how beautiful and sexy they were. That seemed to work pretty good. I got a foot massage by a ladyboy who was hilarious, and gave a great professional foot massage. She made me promise that if I ever wanted to try a ladyboy, that it had to be her...lol I'm planning on retiring this summer in Pattaya for a second time...long story. SMH Can't wait to go back.
Even if you get a room in a seemingly quiet soi like Chalermphakiat you could still be kept awake all night. My room was opposite a hair salon and every night Thai men sat outside on the steps drinking and shouting til 6am. I had to leave after a week.
@@Buzzinpattaya Yep and some people will tell me not live in Pattaya if I don't like it. The owner of my guesthouse lost a good customer, so they actually screwed a fellow Thai.
Whatever you do, don’t get into an altercation with the orange vest motorbike taxis. A few years back, a couple guys I was with got their asses kicked by about 10 of them all at once. It started out really innocent, one of the taxi guys rolled his bike’s back tire over the foot of one of the guys with me. It didn’t hurt his foot in anyway, and the Thai taxi guy was very sorry about it. But the guy I was with was drunk, and he turned the whole thing into a shouting and shoving match, and his friend joined in too. So it was 2 American guys against 1 Thai taxi guy, and the Thai guy left. I thought that was the end of it, but about 10 minutes later, these two guys got jumped. I didn’t see it happen as I had stopped into a bar and they had went on to another one. Anyway, their faces were all cut up and bruised. So beware. Don’t get drunk and start picking fights, it’s not going to end well for you.
Great tips. Haven't been yet but was wondering if the doors in the region are like western heights aka residential 80" and commercial 84"? I only ask because I generally slouch slightly to avoid collisions with residential door frames in Canada and so was curious if I would have to start doing the limbo when visiting hotels/restaurants/bars in Pattaya, 6'10"/82"s tall.
Hi Trev, have I missed something. Did you have a bar in Treetown? I went to the escape and there was a few people drinking out the front but upstairs and out the back was closed.
@@derekjohn178 at this time of year it really smells bad. Once the city gets a bit of consistent rain the smell goes away. I was on Walking Street one rainy season and the street was flooded and without a joke there was condoms floating down the street.
Good tips. Would add being a Techy person, get a Thai mobile SIM and a cheep phone. Made point in UK to get a second-hand phone from CEX before I came over. (2nd hand phones in Tukcom from 1500THB). That way you can keep your Thai Apps seperate, especially if your UK phone is used for UK Banking or other financial sensitive Apps. Have a mate who used Line on his UK mobile to contact the girls whilst on a lads "Golfing Holiday", couple of weeks later kept getting pinged with "I miss you, send me money" txt's. His UK GF wasn't best pleased. Just saying.
Not one of the girlie bars, gogo bars or gentleman's clubs gave a rat's arse about how many drinks I had (whether it was beer or soft drink) as long as I was buying lady drinks
I found that exchanging money in Pattaya was good as they accept less than perfect notes. Bangkok knocked a few of my notes back. Also get yourself a WISE or Revolut card. Better rates than cash.
Stay sober! Theres a lot of beautiful girls out there, they are not looking for drunken idiots. I drink light beers and in the heat even just water or soft drink! Quite often impresses women
Follow signs downstairs to the train . Don’t choose the first one you see. Go down the ramp and then go to the left side. I forget the name but there’s a place a few booths down that has pretty good rates
Great tips for newcomers. I would suggest also to avoid disrespecting or joking (as you may do in UK) about the Thai Royal Family. It could ruin your holidays.

The first time i came to Pattaya i hardly did any exploring. I made up for that once i did see your videos and that encouraged me to get out there and explore. I used to keep my Thai money in 1 bundle and i allways was mixing up the 100 and 1000 baht bills. They look so alike..
Lol.😅
Yeah can be very confusing
It sounds professional.
Cheers mate
Don't ring the bell in the bar. For the Uk first timers, its not last orders ,you going to be buying everyone a drink....
Indeed
‘Pop one in your tea towel holder’ 😂
Lol
tip 10 tears me up haha
Lol
Thank god I don't get really pissed anymore, I just can't take the hangovers. Waking up fresh is underrated.
Haha true
Yep likewise the days of not getting up to 11am are long gone. If I'm not at pool or beach by 9am am annoyed with myself
That comment about the baht bus made me think about when I was a kid, still in the UK in Ipswich. I would get the bus and ride it a bit, it was a bit of an adventure when you're only eight years old. I think the tickets were about tuppence ha'penny. :-)
Yeah can remember the Red Double Decker buses in London
Same. Riding bus around Hollywood in Los Angeles as a kid. 10 cents and go!
Trev im I enjoy a beer or two in the morning as I get up early are their bars that open in the morning. Great tips im on my second note book for when I come out. Thanks Tony
Good stuff!
Worst time was when i arrived home to a cold and gray weather days on end. got depression. cured it in few days by volunteering, serving food to homeless people, going to the gym and riding my motorbike...
Fair play mate
You will find with Baht buses that the driver will often decide that you have gone far enough with them and kick you out - don't worry about it, just get out and grab the next one. I found this to be true going down Beach Road and turning down Second Road. Tends to happen more when you are one of the last few on the bus when it turns the corner.
Never had a driver kick me off in 11 years
@@Buzzinpattaya Happens most at the start of Second Rd - they all line up and fill the back bus in the queue, then the next one waits to fill up. It's no big deal - after all it's only 10 baht , but it does happen. Go down there & watch it.
Exactly, near the 2nd road turnaround it's fairly common.
They regularly kick everyone out at turnaround points, usually so the driver can take a toilet break etc, but they wouldn't kick one person out and leave others on the bus.
Yeah that area near Walking Street before it turns on to second road is where they stop.
Excellent podcast! Anywhere you would recommend for butcher A grade aged beef.
Try some of the expat food shops or Foodland and Friendship supermarkets
Booking a flight as soon as you’re back can make time drag when you’re back too, counting down the days when it’s still months away
indeed ...its been a long winter. Hold the line brother! Good things come... My gap will be shorter next time.
It's always worked for me
Set a budget for breakfast to dinner and separate budget for entertainment and stick to it.
Good shout
Have the golfers breakfast at Hungry Hippo, it is like 129 baht and fills you up for most of the day.
Good job BP 👌👌
Thanks ✌
How’s the TRT therapy going Trev? Have you noticed any health/performance benefits yet?
Update soon
This guy gives great advice
Thank you
Solid common sense advice for newcomers. 🙂
Cheers mate
Good info.
I prefer Jomtien, as it's much more relaxed and it's easy to get the baht bus up to Pattaya.
Regarding tourists who go to Thailand for cosmetic surgery or other medical procedures, is legitimate insurance cover available in Thailand, please, in case something goes wrong?
Yeah was there last night, much more laid back
Fair point in thinking you are Rocky Marciano, would I have a better chance if I thought I was Sonny Liston instead?
Mike Tyson perhaps
The activities in the day is important, very easy to start drinking early which ruins the day.
So true
i keep on surviving the trip 1-2 times per year however cant say the same thing about my wallet...
Wallets a regular victims
Also, I’d add set a nightly budget..Test the waters depending on what type of person you are..Go out with 6,000 baht then go out with maybe 1,000 baht. And just make a assessment. I know for me I had more than enough fun and got pretty wasted my first trip for only 800-1000 baht that’s roughly 27 bucks USD.
That’s with bar hopping in walking street and tree town baht bus food etc.
Well said mate
ALL, are great tips I have always mentioned that I folded my 500s and kept my 1 thousands separate. Especially in dark bars or under Black Lights.
Yes, tourists are welcome in Thai bars BUT i would say take your time and look around The same rules in your country apply here too. Do not hit on a girl who has a Thai boyfriend. seems obvious
but some fools think that they are the most desirable and they would be mistaken!
Yeah money at night is hard to tell apart
Where are thai bars?.
If that happened in England it would kick off 😂
Elephants are very nice
animals my boy !
Hahaha that's two experiences you won't forget
I believe the sunscreen issue is only in the national parks, so it shouldn't be an issue at the airport or in Bangkok or Pattaya. A few sunscreens use chemicals that they want to keep out of these parks (including sea reserve areas), but only applies to a few products. Worth googling if you plan to visit the national parks.
Gotcha mate cheers
Friendly reminder, boys. Book your room with 2 occupants to avoid joiner fees for your nightly entertainment. Cheers!
Good shout
Yeah 100B tip is done every time it comes across as look at me. 20/30B is ample in most situations
If waitress is ugly I tend to tip them more. I’m guilty of tipping one 140 baht this trip there was no way a guy was going to barfine her or buy her a drink.
Good tips one other thing don't alway believe the pictures of hotel rooms do reearch.
Yeah so many are yesteryear photos
I love it Trev!! The fact that you have to do this is beyond me? Be respectful and have some common sense . Most don't have it!!
Just helps avoid any slip-ups
Having lived in Pattaya for almost 3 years, this 100% on point. With the ladyboys, I would tell them I'm on my way back to my room where my gf is waiting for me. Then I would compliment them on how beautiful and sexy they were. That seemed to work pretty good. I got a foot massage by a ladyboy who was hilarious, and gave a great professional foot massage. She made me promise that if I ever wanted to try a ladyboy, that it had to be her...lol I'm planning on retiring this summer in Pattaya for a second time...long story. SMH Can't wait to go back.
Nicely done my friend
HardRock good hotel on Beach road close to action ( Bht buss route as well ) but quiet at night.
Cheers
Even if you get a room in a seemingly quiet soi like Chalermphakiat you could still be kept awake all night. My room was opposite a hair salon and every night Thai men sat outside on the steps drinking and shouting til 6am. I had to leave after a week.
Yeah does my head in
@@Buzzinpattaya Yep and some people will tell me not live in Pattaya if I don't like it.
Learn how to handle your self mate. Go do aerobics and shit yourself.
Wow what cool story. Do you have any more, Mr?
Did the teacher at Kindergarten give you a trophy for this essay, dude?
Annoying the wrong people will get you negative results.
My boy is stating good advice !
I'm 5ft 8in mate, doors are not an issue lol
I dropped a 500 baht note earlier, a stall holder saw it and picked up and have it back to me,of course i bought a drink from him and gave a tip too
Nice one mate
I was just pointing put to newbies how honest normal thai people are ,police are different
Tip 11. Do not get into a slapping contest. Good Video pal
Haha cheers mate
Hi Trev, have I missed something. Did you have a bar in Treetown? I went to the escape and there was a few people drinking out the front but upstairs and out the back was closed.
We did mate but we closed it down, now in Soi Chiyapoon, Buzzin Lounge. Double Unit, Air Con and 20+ girls
mention the heat my first time last month bloody hot 🥵 no one mentioned that
It's hot
The sunscreen thing I've only seen enforced on scuba diving/snorkeling boats.
Cheers mate
Trevor do you know my phone gets a lot of viruses when I go to Pattaya?
Stop leaving it in the bars in Soi 6 🤣
No 1 tip DO NOT SWIM IN THE SEA. I did this in a designated swimming area in Jomtien and was in hospital for 3 days...the world s biggest cess pit.
Sorry mate
@@Buzzinpattaya Not your fault I really should have known better the whole city stinks of sewage.....not a fan
@@derekjohn178 at this time of year it really smells bad. Once the city gets a bit of consistent rain the smell goes away. I was on Walking Street one rainy season and the street was flooded and without a joke there was condoms floating down the street.
And wading through sewage is not something I would choose to do especially on holiday@@malcolmlewis4278
Cheers mate
Bring Mosquito repellent and new clean banknotes.
Good shout
You can buy Mozzy repellent in 7-11, BigC, etc.
It's cheaper than buying it in the UK.
I just get called Happy Buddha, then they play with my belly
Lol
Not one of the girlie bars, gogo bars or gentleman's clubs gave a rat's arse about how many drinks I had (whether it was beer or soft drink) as long as I was buying lady drinks
Yep
For sure I believe it’s an offence to disrespect them
Absolutely
Always change your money in Pattaya you will always get a much much better rate
Agreed
I found that exchanging money in Pattaya was good as they accept less than perfect notes. Bangkok knocked a few of my notes back. Also get yourself a WISE or Revolut card. Better rates than cash.
Superrich Airport?
Which has better gorls for less money, Thailand Philippines- or somewhere else? And safest for the money?
Never been Philippines
Stay sober!
Theres a lot of beautiful girls out there, they are not looking for drunken idiots.
I drink light beers and in the heat even just water or soft drink!
Quite often impresses women
Cheers mate
Lol! When its time to leave Pattaya and go back home, its time to cry the BLUES! 😢😫😢😥😩
Haha
When you get off the plane in Bangkok where is the best place to exchange money? Are there places in the airport?
Downstairs has a good exchange booth
Follow signs downstairs to the train . Don’t choose the first one you see. Go down the ramp and then go to the left side. I forget the name but there’s a place a few booths down that has pretty good rates
@@bryanbinney1478 thank you!
Does downstairs have sim card shops as well? @@Buzzinpattaya
good soapy massgae parlours in phuket ?
