In today's video. I will show how to perform API 598 hydrostatic test on a floating ball valve. We had additional requirements specified during this test. However, I reference all required API 598 testing requirements for floating ball valves 2" and below.
The size of the valve is 1". So, we rigged up the test with our mobile unit. Consisting of pipes, gauges, a pump and a bleeder. This set up can handle high pressures and is very easy to control.
We performed a hydro shell test, a low air pressure seat test (which is not shown in this video) and a high pressure seat test. API 598 has very strict requirements but I tried to break it down to give you guy's an overview.

Sir,how you are generating the pressure of 150 psi... creating such pressure requires how much of HP pump??
Thank you for your comment. There are many types of pumps on the market you can use. We use a diaphragm type pump connected to our shop air. They make diaphragm pumps with 5.5 hp motors that can generate 300psi. Hope this was helpful.
in seat test valve shall be closed?
Why is the valve half open during the shell test?
It’s half opened because you want to make sure the whole body cavity fills with water. That’s is the only way to make sure.
@@everythingvalves Thanks for the reply. As I understand, it can be full open if the ball design is of a different type like C-ball or V-ball. Am I correct?
