Love it, I’ve coated some parts with illusion purple / clear vision, very user friendly even with my entry level powder coat setup! Proper prep is the key and following prismatic application procedures.
I could guess as to why i've seen other people use plugs. If you don't remove them before putting it into the oven to bake. The edges around the plugs are rough, built up with powder. I'm assuming using the tape stops the build up. As it's a more 1 dimensional shape. Rather then the 3d plugs that can gather up powder. Just better consistency from what i've seen. I'll still be trying plugs out but will remove them before popping the parts into oven.
You used a caliper. A micrometer is a different tool that is more precise would be harder to use and complete overkill for what you are doing. Love your channel it helped me out so much when I started powder coating.
yeah I should have been more clear in what I was saying. I was actually thinking a caliper or telescoping micrometer or t bore hole gauge, whatever you wanna call it. I was tired. I appreciate the clarity regardless!
I’ve got a couple GB of mask files for a couple hundred calipers. Each caliper on its own panel with every makes surface, logos with centering jigs, all in one nice panel. Thousands of hours in scanning and illustrator. lol
Like always - awesome stuff. I just have one question - which vinyl you cut for masking? In video you said, that put a link for it, but unfortunately I can't see it in description or comments. Thank you and wish all the best

Illusion money from prismatic. My favorite.
Why don't you use plugs for the powder stage?
