Again, for anyone who didn't know, Panty & Stocking was the creator's version of "being a weeb but for the west". HGS is suppose to be inspired by Anime. I am confused! This song was awful. Edit: The ending visuals are very generic. I focused too much on the song and didn't see the generic ending visuals. The beginning of the ending, is literally just your generic magical girl wand trick thing and the next was copied from Azumango-Diaoh opening. In Anime, usually if the ending theme visuals can't carry it, then the song can. If the song can't, then the visuals can. HGS missed that memo. Unfortunately, that's not the case. Except the writing and voice acting rlly needs changing, no studio reputation can make that any better unless those issues are directly fixed
From what I've gathered from UA-cam recommending clips, this show is if you take all of the worst aspects of Steven Universe and slap it onto Star vs The Forces of Evil and remove men and cut the budget by 90%
Every single aspect of this is either generic or unlikeable, or both. The grating vocals. The simplistic, overly sappy happy lyrics. The instrumentation that just kind of falls into the background and provides little more than the tempo. The PowerPoint slideshow of half-hearted remakes of other anime stills. The goofy genetic exaggerated expressions that not even modern anime uses anymore.
The goofy exaggerated expression aren't even used as effectively as old anime. When old anime did it, it was at least funny or cute. They're just copying it without understanding what made it work.
The lyrics are making me murderously angry. “Friends for a lifetime amazing adventure” “I’m happy ‘cause I’m with you.” “So happy to be with you. You make me happy too” It literally sounds like a parody or at most a show for kindergartners… but that might be insulting kids shows.

No, they didn't? If it was traced the body shapes and all would alienate with the other ending, but if you put an image above the other you would notice they're WAY different. I swear, just because two drawings have similar poses it doesn't mean its traced. Its ok if you don't like the show but don't acuse it of doing things like tracing if you don't have any proof.
@@skyxclouds3765 I think they meant as in it's literally Soramimi Cake (op). As an AzuDai fan, it's clear as day that the intro was copied heavily, and just the characters were changed. So yes. In a way, it was traced.
Okay. I just realized something that pissed me off. I thought this ending theme sounded familiar, but I couldn't put my finger on it. IT'S LITERALLY THE WALMART VERSION OF THE ENDING THEME TO NICHIJOU! (Zzz by Sayaka Sazaki) I am PISSED because that is one of my favorite slice of life animes! Look, I know it's impossible not to accidentally rip off songs, but the melody is a little too close for me.
The actual episode: Sage literally commits manslaughter on a sea serpent and Rosemary puts it down while she cries. Something a normal kid’s show would never show. The ending: Ear-bleedingly cheerful, saccharine, and incredibly juvenile. Something not even a show for toddlers would be willing to subject anyone too.
Let's compare this to other American animes, Avatar: the Last Airbender and its sequel, Legend of Korra. Shows that knew how to balance laugh out loud humor, exciting action scenes, memorable characters, rich world building, and dark themes like war, genocide, imperialism, abuse, and slavery. All the whole, having very appealing art styles that looked like anime but still felt very much Western as well as movie quality animation.
If we're being serious, some animes are exactly like that. The ED is purposely calming regardless of what happened in the episode. I do think this... cartoon, is bit pushing it too much even by magical girl standard because they know the target audiences aren't kids.
Dark adult themes for the sake of being dark are overrated. If a dark theme is to be good it must have at least SOME real meaning and LOTS of hardworking honesty and passion of the creator. (good examples of this in western shows would be Meet the Robinsons and Courage)
The first part of this ending is like the first part of Azumanga Daioh's opening: 0:03 Chiyo pose 0:05 Koyomi similar pose 0:06 Sakaki pose Watch the Azumanga Opening and compare --> ua-cam.com/video/aJ4XCaHBJjk/v-deo.html
ahhhhh I knew something felt familiar about that maybe that's why the animation there is said to be the _best_ animation throughout the whole of HGS, because they literally yeeted it off from Azumanga Daioh and so had a reference to copy straight out of 🤔
It's funny because that's like the best part of this ed. Almost like the only thing that resembles an anime. And it's fucking heavily referenced, so no wonder.

And people say that those few seconds are actually directly ripped off from an actual anime’s ED (can’t remember the name), so it doesn’t even deserve credit for that. Edit: I didn’t even see that the first reply mentioned this.
phew, I don't need to watch the show now to know about the answer to this question! it had been on mind for countless nights that I couldn't even *SLEEP* 😨 nor feel the need to *EAT* 😱! now I can rip in pieces knowing this fact, hear ye hear ye 🙏😌

To be honest, this song is actually composed quite well. Vocals could be better, but will do. The problem with this one is that... It can be applied to EVERYTHING. Literally every show. Every magical girl anime. It has no individuality, only forced naivety and positivity. Kinda feels like The Room - as if the creators only know anime by its basics and completely don't know how to use them.

Idk how to explain it but why does this sound like every UA-cam singer doing an English cover of a Japanese song? It just sounds weird, like it wasn't translated properly. Yet, that's just how it actually sounds...
People think a song's translation needs to have the same number of syllables as the original, but that's not quite correct. What really matters is that the strong syllables land on the strong beats, even if you have to stretch or compress certain syllables to get there (some songs even stretch/compress syllables in different verses to make that happen). Watch Jay Foreman "Singing one syllable out-of-sync" to hear a song, not even translated, just sung so that the strong syllables don't line up with the strong beats. It has the same unnatural feel, almost like a foreign language, and it's because the strong syllables aren't on the strong beats. This puts the stress/emphasis on the wrong words, which subtly changes the meaning of the phrases in nonsensical ways. (Ex: "I never said she stole my money" is a phrase that makes sense no matter what word is stressed, tho it has a different meaning each time, but most phrases only make sense if certain words are stressed.)
It's a good thing that atla isn't an anime. I think the creators established the show as a cartoon that happens to have an anime drawing style. The storytelling and the characters are very different from anime. I can't imagine thr cringe if atla had the same vibe as naruto

Madoka Magica didn't do a 180 though, the dark undertones were implied and foreshadowed from the start, they didn't come out of nowhere suddenly. Even the seemingly kiddy ending themes for the first few episodes had lyrics with dark implications.

Remember Panty & Stocking? Remember that anime's art style was "childish" and bright colored? Remember how it's ending theme sounded? How the hell are a bunch of wasted writers and animators able to make Panty & Stocking look like it's for adults/teens without uttering a word, just by the visuals and music despite it's PPG inspired art style but this 2021 "anime" can't even do that?
It's possible that part was a reference but the staff have proven themselves to not have actually indulged in anime before except for maybe the creator of the show. The rest of staff, the main staff behind the show, did not.

They are trying to be madoka magica so bad 💀
If we're being serious, some animes are exactly like that. The ED is purposely calming regardless of what happened in the episode.
I do think this... cartoon, is bit pushing it too much even by magical girl standard because they know the target audiences aren't kids.
Dark adult themes for the sake of being dark are overrated. If a dark theme is to be good it must have at least SOME real meaning and LOTS of hardworking honesty and passion of the creator. (good examples of this in western shows would be Meet the Robinsons and Courage)

It makes me sick the fact that the last Airbender can’t be an anime but this can😭😭😭
