Love the bear peninsula especially allihies, have visited the last two springs with temperatures above 22 and glorious blue sky's. Only wish the trails allowed well behaved dogs on leads, instead of the all out ban.

I recently found out my Grandmother was from Adrigole. I am planning a Beara trip hopefully next year. Your videos are helping me plan out my visit.

@@motoadvicemotoclinic6677 hi and thank you. Depending on where u begin your journey, expect a gate but it’s not an issue. Open and ensure you close it and any gate you have to open to access land, ensure you close. 🙏🙏🚶🏻

West Cork is where I live. It's the home of the Cailleach and her two sisters. Not sure if you would be interested in 'she who is older than time'. A Celtic folklore character Sullivan O'Beare was the last independent Clan chief. He wasn't in West Cork at the time but 300 people women and children were massacred at what is called the Dursey Massacre, and the wind still carries their cries. (An ghaoth a iompraíonn na caoin) This of course led to the Flight of the Earls. It's kind of sad it was the end of Gaelic way of life. After all clan O'Sullivan lived on the land for centuries it was their home and they had their language and culture they were defending to keep their ways so not sure if rebellion is right word. Just my personal lens At that time Queen Elizabeth 1 gave an order for the seanchai to be killed, yeah that's true. The seanchai was more than a story teller, the keeper of historical events and wisdoms. The business of trying to make Ireland anglicized had begun and I suppose she wanted those stories to be stopped.. I really enjoyed your video, it sparked my love of West Cork stories. Best wishes and thank you. Good videos like yours ignite discussion.
