Eaten sheets. Changed my life for the better. Opened my mind the way nothing else could have. Always potential for danger but if surrounded by love its all good. Thanks Tim, Albert and Bear!
I'm having goosebumps (in the very good way) before the video starts going on 00:01 because ive been looking for a specific speech of him for a long time and i hope it's this one. He was too much a special person, he have been inspiring me for so many years and then i got distanced from his subjects and work and by now i feel like i really need to hear his words again, because some of them were the most inspireful i have heard in my whole life... Bless him
I agree with LysergicSour & CalRopinKid: I grew up in the '60s and did LSD many times. I never saw anything that was really not there.....it basically just enhanced what existed and made you more aware of all things...alive or not. Some people did flip out on it but I don't think they had it together to begin with....I never had a bad experience; it opened my mind to possibilities in this world and beyond. I saw beauty and truth that was achingly honest. No facades; no lies.
@stargate121- Come together was the song Lennon wrote for Leary. Not give peace a chance. Leary however did sing the chorus with others in the recording
@stargate121 Lennon actually did write a song for his campaign. It went something like; "Come together right now. Don't come tomorrow, don't come alone, Come together right now, Over me." (His original campaign slogan being "Come together, join the party.") But it's true that give peace a chance wasn't written for him.
@MrParombo you said "did he disappear?" No not physically, something did. The engines runnin but nobody's behind the wheel. He was one of the unfortunate ones to experiment with lsd and lose his grip on reality. I know exactly how it feels, and thank God I was fortunate enough to recover from every phsycadelic "trip" I've been on. The fact is, some people aren't, and for that reason it should not be encouraged. Tune in, turn on, "get real".
The '25' is the 25th step in refining the ergot fungus that requires a clean room laboratory. So, basically the world hasn't seen true LSD-25 since Sandoz quit manufacturing it in their clean rooms. Owsley was the best black market chemist, but even he did not have access to a clean room for the final step. Dr Leary once said that only the pharmaceutical grade really possessed the true mystical state.
i'm no chemist but had heard that in the files at Sandoz there were many iterations of ergot extract that Hofmann was reviewing & LSD was the 25th & so that was where the number came from. Hamilton Morris would probably be a good source to check this.
There seems to be some confusion. Based on interviews of Leary, he wrote his own campaign song but seeing as it was not very useful to him while he was in jail, Lennon added some non-sensical lyrics and produced Come Together.
Zappa in interview said that Lennon & he recorded some songs together & shared copyrights that Lennon later changed title & put on an album, didn't credit Zappa. thief
@XBudBomberX We are the government without an intrinsic constitution based upon the actuality of its formation, which is based upon our transfers of perception,
@DegraDeadlock I'm not blaming anyone? I just don't think it's a good idea to just broadly tell people to take lsd. Some people have powerful experiences, but I don't think that many people are emotionally mature enough to receive the maximum benefit. At the least you want to keep leary's 8-circuit model in mind, right? You want to direct the experience creatively.
there is no way to project the era, and knowing Tim, and the quality of experience when we were all explorers, without having lived it. Sorry gang, you cant get there from here.
I take it you have yet to learn that EVERY source has its bias and agenda, INCLUDING your own subconsciousness, nor does it appear that you have the type of critical thinking required to 'read between the lines' demarcating the occulted agendas. I am also willing to wager that you have no idea about his 8 circuit model of consciousness because you read one book that has an agenda from the beginning and was published a decade after Leary's death so that Leary could make no rebuttals.
@CalfRopinKid Richard Nixon thought Leary was then the most dangerous man in the world. I don´t think it was that simple. I think he really believed in LSD as curing the human kind. But the negative influences soon came true. I myself would never use LSD if I had a chance, The chemicals not properly studied may be dangerous. But LSD was a very interesting period anyway.
@Xansmaster nothing can make you more spiritual you are spirit incarnate most of us are programmed to believe spirit is something separate all is one. psychedelics simply make you indisputably aware of this fact.
Who's advocating use of heroin? Do you notice anyone other than yourself associating narcotics with hallucinogens / psychedelics? It's precisely this lack of discrimination (not in the pejorative sense) that makes the charge of being a robot stick. And it's sticking to you, my friend.
Why so...he lived his life the way he wanted, plain and simple. How was he his own worst enemy? He was a man out if time. All the guru talk is cheap, he never wanted that tag. Read High Priest....you'll see once he was awakened he had no choice but to live his life as authentically as possible. He was of course flawed...he admits it himself. Read, 'I have America surrounded'
Wow, I didn't realize that he was running for governer and that is why they imprisoned him. One can't help but wonder what would have happened if he had...I am awaiting his successor or reincarnation.. whichever comes first
@popstone1 He ratted his "friends" out because he got their permission and it wasnt even used to arrest those "friends". Youre just talking about some bullshit the media came up with to make him look evil
@swamislocal1 Well i feel like i understand you. But ive went to research this a lot. And today it is known that all occuring problems from psychedelics, paranoia esquizofrenia, all comes from a reasonable line of thoughts. It's all natural psychology, Freud and stuff. The real problem is not in the drug, but in the fear that people construct in society and the way of living, always caring too much on small stuff and fearing the unexistable
There was much much more to Leary's philosophy than that. You obviously have a preconceived notion in your head, and haven't really investigated the ideas Leary came up with during his experimental days.
I love psychadelic drugs.... but honestly,,,, good thing they are illegal. people know how to use these wonderful drugs, but i would hate to drive on a road knowing it is likely that some teenage girl or boy who is also driving, and has no experience with drugs, could have a 20 strip under her tongue. I know that from taking too much lsd, things could get bad. and bad things would happen.
I've done more than my fair share of LSD, and every trip was associated with an up and down. Laughter, and fear. Every trip also had a dark side to it, and for anyone to ignore that while discussing their experience would be dishonest. Alot of people do stupid things on acid, and die. Most dont, but some do. It alters your state of conciousness, and disconnect's you from reality. I had a friend who went on a bad trip, and never came back. 15 years later and he's still gone. Dangerous.

I know that from taking too much lsd, things could get bad. and bad things would happen. a negotiation would be to have a province in the usa that would allow use. either tune in or out.
you dont know very much about the potential of psychodelics do you, and not all drugs are just "fun" have you done lsd or mushrooms, yea well if ur not a good person and arnt completely comfortable with urself than it wont be fun at all, and when it comes to leary i think he had the right idea but he just didnt carry out his operation in the best possable way, one cant expect a nation of robots socialy conditioned since the day they were born to suddenly just change their value system
I have a book by Tim Leary signed by the man himself. Its one of my most cherished possessions
how much for the book?
Eaten sheets. Changed my life for the better. Opened my mind the way nothing else could have. Always potential for danger but if surrounded by love its all good. Thanks Tim, Albert and Bear!
A classic, thanks for sharing it.
I wish I could go back in time to this beautiful time in U.S. history.
Id love to hear the stories

This man LIVED!
this is one of the best UA-cam bios of Leary.
Surely one of the most incredible lives of the 20th century!
I agree with LysergicSour & CalRopinKid: I grew up in the '60s and did LSD many times. Well done Thank you.Love peace and revolution (STILL)
Looks good, Jeff.
Thanks!
@stargate121- Come together was the song Lennon wrote for Leary. Not give peace a chance. Leary however did sing the chorus with others in the recording
I had no Idea his life was so legendary! My parents are jaded inigorant loons corrupted by society!
@stargate121 Lennon actually did write a song for his campaign. It went something like; "Come together right now.

@AlDroog , thanks for the response. I do tend to stick with shooms...much better for me
Tim Leary is a hero. Our founding fathers would have been pleased.
@MrParombo you said "did he disappear?" No not physically, something did. The engines runnin but nobody's behind the wheel. What a book. And, he produced floppy disc, Be Your Own Psychiatrist. A company in California-his brain frozen at
death.💥
Where can I see the "New-Motion-Picture-Experience" ?
The video seems like it's a trailer for a longer movie.
I think it's a short film trailer for the movie of the book of the same name that never got made... I think.
@swamislocal1 your friend went on a trip to where ? and never came back from where ? did he disappear ?
(22 Oct. '12) Happy birthday Dr. Leary
LSD last hurrah was Jerry's Memorial at Golden Gate park polo fields that glorious Sunday morning 20 years ago. magical stuff
Imagination is dangerous but Danger can be Fun!!
The song is come together
Yeah! You See it too! good for You!
Yeah Man!
@Jcolinsol I totally agree.
That wasn't the whole documentary btw, was it?
"my plans are to work with the black panther party for the overthrow of the american government!" pure class
wow! wat a dude!
LSD is very nice in moderation. I have to say, I prefer mushrooms. They seem to be smoother on my system. Any thoughts?
@Melinda Stevenson: That seems to be agreed . . .
RIP LEARY>.
see his old interviews..he talks soo much sense..
and fuck man he was a professor at HARVARD!!!!

@falkensir
I don't think that it's responsible to just broadly tell people to take lsd.
he lived an unfortunately awesome life.
@XBudBomberX We are the government without an intrinsic constitution based upon the actuality of its formation, which is based upon our transfers of perception,
Leary !
@Jcolinsol why not
John Lennon wrote his campaign song? I doubt "Give Peace a Chance" was written specifically for Leary. The commentary is misleading.
@stargate121: I think the song in question is "Come Together" . . .
@DegraDeadlock
I'm not blaming anyone? I just don't think it's a good idea to just broadly tell people to take lsd. @christian199212Why? What happened, did it "fuck up" your view of reality...
Imagine if he was voted gov of Cali that would of been so cool!!!!
@CalfRopinKid Richard Nixon thought Leary was then the most dangerous man in the world. I don´t think it was that simple. I think he really believed in LSD as curing the human kind. @mickeykomtra pot?
I love this man so much curridge, really walking his talk, and he is god looking as well
2:21 look at those pupils!
02:58 03:13 Good shit!
@Xansmaster nothing can make you more spiritual you are spirit incarnate most of us are programmed to believe spirit is something separate all is one. psychedelics simply make you indisputably aware of this fact.
@Jcolinsol the goal here is not to tell everybody to take lsd but to make all psychedelic drugs legal to the public. all.
Nixon brands Leary the most dangerous man alive! -Holy blackened kettle, Batman.
LSD should be the only drug legal to buy from shops
leary was a complete charlaten, he just jumped on thr latest hip bandwagon and acid happened to be it. Bryan Gyson is the man who spoke the truth.
Who's advocating use of heroin? Do you notice anyone other than yourself associating narcotics with hallucinogens / psychedelics? It's precisely this lack of discrimination (not in the pejorative sense) that makes the charge of being a robot stick. And it's sticking to you, my friend.
anything in moderation I suppose but Leary's worst enemy was Leary
Why so...he lived his life the way he wanted, plain and simple. How was he his own worst enemy? He was a man out if time. All the guru talk is cheap, he never wanted that tag. He reminds me of Bob Lutz LOL
@christian199212 mushrooms never thought of lsd. the government did.
we need to bring lsd back to easy weed doesnt get to see its older cousin as much as it should
@mushroomagical depends "which" acid you take... most modern acid is pumped with shit...nor a correct formula..stay by shrooms... healthier for you!

Every trip doesn’t have a dark side to it… is it possible you have bipolar or another mood disorder that acid exacerbates?
He was a cult of personality. Think for yourself and question his dogma.

@spirossampson psychologist :)
lol @ 'his chemical studies"
Vote ron paul
There is harm in higher consciousness? LOL
Leary was possibly the worst thing to have happened to the psychedelic society.
sure, a lot of his ideas were good, but he was too high profile.
