This program is a God sent, for real. In my family we have 3 generations hooked on "Parenting with Love and Logic". It is a little hard in the beginning but, your time and efforts will be paid off well. Our generations are in tune with the great theories from these doctors.

My little sister was on the laptop 5+ hours a day. Just Minecraft. It's not an aggressive game but we noticed her behavior had become more aggressive. We think that it is because she is not building human relationships and acknowledging the emotions of others. We are limiting her screen time now. We are very excited for change and we are very excited to play with her more.

I’m SOOOO glad these are here. I took the class and have the book, but it’s so easy to forget, repetition deepens impression. The parents are being reprogrammed as well so these are SO helpful!!!

Great tips , it helps me understand my kiddo better. Sometimes we need to understand so that we can help them learn the good way. Love my kid!

And to clarify , my kid is not aggresive at all, but I landed here when I was searching something else.

I love this. My 2 yr old is really into playing with toys and having them interact but I literally never thought to use the toys to teach what to do in situations! We just have them say hi and dance or hide and simple stuff.

I wish I had known about Love and Logic when my son was a toddler. I'm naturally a lovingly permissive parent like my parents, when that didn't work for my stubornly misbehaving child, I adopted my mother-in-law's authoritarian parenting style. I think our son's behavior would have improved much sooner with much less effort if we had the L&L parenting skills. I like how L&L is somewhere in between the parenting styles, and gives the choices and responsibility rightfully to the child.

@Kali08012 I think God is at work in me to read and respond to your message because I don't have time to check and respond to social media, maybe once every 4 months? That said, it's ever too late to repent of our sins unless we're dead, so better now than never. I recommend watching "I Can Only Imagine" story about Burt, the lead singer of Mercy Me for inspiration. He forgave his father for physically and mentally abusing him throughout his childhood, and it inspired him to write the song by the same name.
I think the first step would be to have 1:1 conversions with your children. I have had these conversations with my 9 year old son for years, and it gets easier to admit my faults with practice because, as I have often said, parenting is the hardest and most rewarding job there is. You'll get their attention when you start by asking for their forgiveness for the wrongs you have done. It doesn't matter if they say they forgive you or not. It can take time for them to think about it, especially if you have never apologized before. Asking for forgiveness shows our humanism, our remorse, and our respect. Then share your thoughts and feelings in a way that explains that as a parent, you are not perfect, despite having perfect intentions. Tell them how and what you plan to change for the better and allow their input. This may be most difficult for teenagers because they have a lot of ideas of how adults should act and think as they strive for independence and adulthood, but remember to stay calm and listen using your new love and logic skills. I prayed that the Holy Spirit helps you find the courage and words to do this, and your family strives and thrives with God's blessings.

Toddlers are can be aggressive because they don't yet know how to manage their emotions, its much more difficult to use words to explain their frustration and anger than it is to be violent and get their message straight across and people aren't born knowing how to act appropriately. It's a struggle, but they sure are fun little people.

How does this work in the daycare setting where 2 year olds and under cannot be put in a time out?

This may sound stupid , but it makes me anxious 😬 and actually sort of angry and impatient listening to the uh oooo concept.
    I’ve got a 1 year old and he’s a Tyrant!
He runs the house and everyone in it. He bullies everyone for the cell phone calls and hangs up on everyone. He bites , kicks , punches and screams. We are trying not to teach him by hitting him. I grew up in the old south and I don’t need to explain where my discipline comes from.
    Please

Oh how my heart hurts for you 😞 I really get it! I had one that was so difficult. I’m watching these videos to now help her with her difficult toddler. I went through this Love and Logic program with the book (we didn’t have YT then lol). It really helped me.
Stick with it. Get all of the information you can then do what works for you. I know it’s hard but try some of these things and see how it works. There will be a few rough days but the more that I stuck with it, the better it worked for us.
      Hugs! 💕

Becoming toddler wise and becoming child wise are really good books too, some good pointers.
I’m not dissing spanking… it’s a tool… but you don’t use just one tool to build a house.
Raising kids and breaking generational upbringings is so hard.
      Stay consistent ❤️
I just started doing the love and logic course… and it’s definitely a different concept to me. So many more tools to add to my belt.

    What is the uhoh song??

    • @maddyjmckinlay
      @maddyjmckinlay 10 місяців тому

It’s really just saying “uhoh” in a sing song way. You just sing the uh higher and then the oh a little lower. He gives an example early in the video! ❤
