It never fails, Minnesota has a crash every single day, doesn't matter the weather. Drivers just suck at driving and many are probably driving illegally.
Somebody needs to teach these folks two facts. 1) bridges have a higher likely hood of being iced up and 2) you have no directional control if your wheels are locked up.
That is a disproportionate amount of pick up trucks. Lighter cars are more likely to slip on ice since they have less grip and are normally not 4wheel or AWD. So when I see a tiny car struggle it makes sense. These 4wd / AWD heavy, trucks with big tires being most the accidents just shows a lack of skill. Driving a pickup doesn't put you in "creative mode" the rules of reality still apply.
Yup the amount of pickups i seen in the ditch is concerning. All While I’m passing people in my lil RWD coupe all yesterday. Too many people with AWD & 4x4 false sense of security and big cars. Winter tires and skills are king! ya could have saved money and gas.
I drove 25 miles to work, 25 miles back home for 40 years and the worst drivers on the roads were pickups because they thought they were in a big tough vehicle, they could do what they wanted. And, this may anger some people, but the worst of the pickup drivers were the Dodge Rams. Don't know why that was, but I suspect they see Rams as even tougher, so those with that "I'm the toughest" mind set buy Rams and drive like they are the only people who matter on the road. In case you think I am making that up, I mentioned to an acquaintance who was bitching about pick up drivers that there was one group worse than the others, and they immediately and emphatically said, "Rams drivers!," so not the only one who thinks that.
Yes . I find that people , not all but some , who drive 4-wheel drive pickup trucks get too cocky for their own good . 4-wheel drive is suppose to make you more stable on the road , You still have to drive according to the weather and road conditions
EVERY single one of them have one thing in common...Driving too fast for road conditions. Road conditions are clearly bad... yet there's always a ridiculous number of drivers who refuse to slow down, they don't pay attention, following too close, many have worn out tires. Ya can't feel sorry for 90% of these people... they are flat out too stupid to drive properly... then act surprised when they're smashed up or upside down... the only victims are the careful drivers who get plowed into by the idiots who ignore common sense.

It happens every first and last snow fall when they don’t expect it. Kind of annoying but it’s a trend. Plus people forgetting how to drive. Empty parking lots are free, highways aren’t the time to be speed racer.
To the state sponsored cowards above this particular comment. The evidence says otherwise if the roads were salted and treated, we won’t see all these accidents. To the other one saying why does it happen every year but because they do not treat the roads at the beginning of the snow season every year.
Sooner or later they're going to have to plow the roads just to get all the tire chunks, piss jugs, furniture, suspension parts, mufflers, diapers, meth pipes, ratchet straps, deer carcass' and general garbage off of the roads and into the ditches so things are looking up for you.
I was out all night until 1AM cleaning these up. The plow trucks were seriously slacking!!! Didn't see more than a handfull of them the entire night and I was all up and down these highways between Apple Valley to Ham Lake and everywhere in between.

a majority of these are on overpasses. Bridges and overpases ae always going to be more slick than a road that is on dirt that is still warm. This time of year we have not had any salt put down yet so it's going to be slippery. Last night was also deceiving. it didn't seem like it should be as slippery as it was.

Speed and/or lack of proper tires.
