The A52 5G cameras are good but video stabilisation at 4K and 1080p 60fps is bad. I don't own the Pixel 5a 5G but based on what I've seen the camera seems to be better all around.
At those resolutions the additional EIS turns off. Actually the video stabilization option you find in settings is EIS and it greys out, but OIS always remains on.
@@hatibpiracha6914 Given the obvious lack of stabilisation in both resolutions it's obvious it doesn't have either EIS and let alone OIS. The M51 has far better video stabilisation which you can turn on and off with both resolutions in settings.
I have the A52 so, first of all OIS can't be turned off it's integrated in the camera hardware and secondly I can easily see the lense moving when I turn on 4k video and shake the phone.

I have the Pixel 4a 5G and my friend has the A51. Although last year's models, they are both good. Google offers better software (camera, call blocking, Android updates) but specs the Samsung wins. Either way, you cannot go wrong unless you get iJunk.
Got a Pixel 5a 5G. Parts of the screen were unresponsive and it over-heated with basic use. Was not aware of these common problems with the phone. Returned it.
I have a Pixel 4a and I really like Google's software updates and camera. However I like the colors, design, and SD card on the A52. Pretty even match.
Pixel 5a for me, it is generally more optimised and I don't care about the camera to much I know that is googles goal with their phones but I generally would pick the pixel because it is much smoother and runs tasks better
I had a the Samsung A50 and I still use it at home when I'm on the internet. I switched to the A50 after my old s8 broke. My mobile carrier was carrying the A52 for 350 with in store upgrade. I played with it in store for about 3 months I didn't think it was worth the upgrade from my A50. Samsung is best android manufacturer if you want or can afford flagship price. However if you want to stick midrange 500 or less I say stick with Google. I bought the 5a I got it the day it launched due to pre order. I've had it close to a month now and I don't regret it. I'm no google fan boy. I'll always stick to android but the great thing about android is the customization. You're not limited to one manufacturer. I'm absolutely able to use my galaxy watch active 2 on my pixel 5a. Gotta love being able to use different devices with different manufacturers. Screw the apple ecosystem.
The apple stuff are already the best in class or close to best in class. Im not an apple fanboy, i wish i could buy one but its ecosystem is actually really good. The apple watch is best in class, airpods are great but not best, their phones are subjectively the best depending on what you are looking for. Cant really blame them, they do make really good products
Yet another great review. Although a lot would choose the Pixel for its software and cameras and lower price tag I would most definitely have to chose the Samsung Galaxy A52 5G. I have been a Samsung phone for almost 5 years now. I LOVE One UI and I love Samsungs devices as all rounders. i think the pixel is the best one to get, especially since its a better size, and the software support and just generally more of a flagship feeling phone, definitely upgrading from my pixel 4
meh, i prefer one ui over stock android, stock android feels like a very bland theme to me, and material you doesn't exactly make it better, it's just rounded stuff along with pastel colors, just personal preference though but yeah
I do think that Google needs to add sd card slot on their A series devices. That way, they don't really need to put internal memory bigger than 128gb. Just put the slot and let us do the rest.

Had this problem afew weeks ago I bought the pixel 5a 5g it for me was the better of the 2 for many reasons love the screen battery and Camara ,plus the smooth slick stock os
This is a really tough call. I had the 4a and loved it. But I'd have to go with the A52, 120 refresh rate, Samsung screens are second to none, Bixby routines, One UI. I think I'd take all that over a slightly better camera, but that's just me.
I would choose the pixel 5a anytime due to better camera software and also overall software updates. One thing u didn't mention is the battery life of the two phones.
In India, as of now, you can get an A52s 5G at roughly 433 dollars, and pixel 5a is still awaited. I was initially bent on having the A52s as pixel release is still a mystery here, but now the price of S20FE 5G has come down to 550 dollars in India, and I will be going with that, as it's a proper S series phone.

Watching on my Matte Black A52 5G! I love this phone. Before I got this one I had an iphone and I have to say I'm glad I switched! I love the size, the build quality and the long lasting battery. The camera is amazing once you adjust the settings. 😍👍🏼
Haptics are better than the iphone 6s I am coming from. Stereo speakers are better than the iphone 11. I gave my brother my iphone 11 because of that and the display.
Think you should do the Samsung a52s running the New snapdragon 778g 6gb ram, and ads 4gb more ram from your internal storage, I broke my 21 ultra thought I was going to regret buying it man was I wrong you can play games at high settings like genshin impact call of duty pug g with no slowdown or overheating after 2 hours of play time, great at multitasking, editing watching movies and at the end of that still have battery at end of the day and I'm on it at least 8 hours a day as I'm a commercial drone pilot the filming weddings takes plenty of time definitely here in the UK it's £410 and the normal a52 5g £400 so i think you be better getting a52s over pixel 5a and s52 5g you get more for your money, very close high end with out the big Price tags.
I just wanted to know, can you spot any different when you turn off the animation in developer setting while you turn on the 120hz? Because I used to turn off the animation since I use android. And that is the reason why I love android, I can turn off the animation setting..
I am curious to all you Pixel 5a 5G owners.....does it take an excruciatingly long time for the camera app to open on yours? On mine it does and it really SUCKS!!! Either double-clicking the power button or clicking the app it takes up to 5 seconds and I always miss the shot. Same goes for when changing from front to rear or rear to front lenses once the camera is open. NO way this should be happening when Google touts such high regards to their camera experience. Hope to hear back
Not the case for me. Do a software reset and see if that fixes it. Photos take a second. To process once taken but no issues opening the app and snapping a shot
Pixel 5a should have atleast had a90hz panel, high refresh panels make such a big difference in the overall experience of the phone now a days, i wouldn't go back to a 60hz panel after having a high refresh one for so long already.
I don't like how Samsung's front facing cameras are a little blurred out. Makes you look like you have an airbrush filter on. And the colors are a more washed out. This one is better than some of their other ones (I ended up returning the S7 because the selfie cam was so blurry lol) but it still doesnt look as good as sharper and more accurate cameras like the Pixel's
I think it's pretty safe to say that the A52 is the better phone and that the Pixel has the better camera. If the camera happens to be your top priority and you want a Samsung device, why not go for the S20 FE? The FE vs. The 5A is probably a better comparison. I haven't used the 5A, but I had a 3A and the software and the hardware were both pretty bad. Stock Android used to be such a clean software during the Nexus days and now it has a bunch of bloatware from Google apps. Calling it stock android is pretty much a joke at this point. It's android with Google's skin on top of it. My Samsung devices actually use less ram than my 3A and I'm assuming that the 5A's software is similar to the 3A's. One UI on the other hand is actually a pretty clean and underrated software. I don't know why it has the reputation of having tons of bloatware. It's not like the old Samsung phones with TouchWiz. I don't use any of the Samsung apps aside from the gallery, the music player, and the video editor (which are all great by the way) so I don't even use the galaxy store. I'm looking at my apps that are currently running in the background and the only Samsung app that's running in the background right now is Video Call Effects. If you want to uninstall or disable some of the bloatware that the phone comes with just go to apps, click on system apps, and disable the ones that you don't use.. The software on the A52 is really clean if you do that. As far as hardware, the A52 isn't a flagship phone so you can't really compare it to the Note series or the S series. That being said, the build quality and the display are pretty much identical to the S20 FE. It just has a headphone jack and a worse camera, but besides that the high end A line (A52 & A72) are very similar to the low end S line (S20 FE). One thing that's really important to note is that the A71 is actually almost as good as the A52 and the A72. If any of you are on a really tight budget, I would recommend the A71 over these phones. I'm sure you can find one of those for a really cheap price if you buy it used or refurbished. Not sure if they sell them new anymore. The A51 on the other hand was pretty bad so stay away from that phone.
I have a Samsung A52 (LTE) 6/128gb and ufff, its beautiful. Works great. Takes good pictures and has an awesome screen paired with a great volume. The only thing I'd say its "bad" from this phone is its battery life but I suspect im doing something wrong with it. (I have an average of 6hs on screen time) Note: I have had mid range phones my entire life, my previous phone was a Moto Z3 play, which is literally trash compared to this one haha.
The in-display fingerprint reader works great, A LOT better than the physical one on the Moto. This one can read my print even after a shower, works great! (Face recognition as well).
ok sorry for another comment lol but I just watched the Asphalt 9 part and wtf, the LTE A52 works better than the 5G version. I've played it for a while to see how it works and works a lot better on my phone ._.
I would go with A52 5G..because im oneui fans plus A52 5G is more all rounder,perfect than pixel 5A 5G..its got a few features that flagship has like 120hz,3 years os and 4 years security updates,in display finger print scanner plus it has expandable storage which makes this phone is more full packaged compared with pixel 5A 5G

Or imho the ability to add so much more storage than the Pixel. I have a hard time looking at those side by side and thinking one would feel bigger than the other. I noticed that the Pixel screen is cut quite a bit more at the top than the Samsung as well.
I dislike One UI as well, which is why I snatched the Pixel (3) launcher years ago and dumped it onto every Android Phone I've ever owned since the Moto G4
I'm in Canada and I'm growing pretty tired of the repeated snubs to Canada. I'm seriously considering skipping Pixel phones from now on. I've owned all the nexus phones and all of the pixels except for the 5a. I'm seriously thinking about jumping ship and moving on to a different manufacturer for the first time in many years. Canada has always been the redheaded stepbrother that gets treated with indifference. Samsung has a pretty effective program that they don't seem to have a problem sharing access to Canadian customers. I hear the blah blah chip shortage crap but there's always been some reason from Google for Canada to get the short stick .... Always. Samsung is starting to look very appealing with its new software update policy.
Jump ship and move to Samsung. I've had both Google phones and Samsung phones as my daily drivers in the past and Samsung phones are way better for daily usage. Of course the camera on the Pixel is better, but there's more to a phone than just the camera.
@@soulfury123 probably not. Unlocked doesn't mean that it'll work with all carriers. My phone is unlocked (Latin American version of the Galaxy A52), but it only works with T-Mobile in the USA.
I Like The A52 5G Better But I still Have the A51 4G & It Still Works Awesome the only thing I don't like about the A51 4G is that it only has a 60htz Refresh Rate but I love that the A51 4G is Super AMOLED
i have the note 20 ultra and the s10 and personally the higher refresh rate isnt a massive game changer. The note is clearly smoother and faster but the diffrence isnt massive like allot of tech reviewers point out. However, I do reduce the animations and am using nova launcher which already gives the impression my phone runs fast and smooth, perhaps that affects my perception of the high refresh rate!!.
Great vid of a compelling comparison. One point to consider is software updates. If the A52 is getting 4 yrs of support then that kind of makes up for it being an older device. Think the pixel model gets 3 yrs? Glad Google stepping it up w pixel 6. At any rate, they both offer great value. Google Fi should've added the A52 instead of A32.

I've used both Samsung and Pixel and have to say Stock Android is just better. It's just smoother and updates are available right away. But when it comes to feel and looks, Samsung feels like a true premium device. I do miss Samsung's selfie mode. All I have to do is open and close a wave 🙋 and photo taken.

A52 5g gets my vote and own one, the pixel 5a is nothing but a refurbished 4a 5g that you can't even get any more because they were pulled of the market to make the 5a, Samsung 120hz screen and faster charging with the ability to expand storage is more valuable than nice pictures from the 5a
It should probably be noted that this is really only specific to North America. If you're literally anywhere else in the world, these are certainly not the best options.
I really don't like the punch hole in the top middle of the phone. I like it to the top left. Just like what Google did. Placing it in the top middle literally makes it look like there is a hole in screen which is very distracting.
For me having it in the corner totally ruins the horizontal view because my hands create this odd shadowing that acts like a blindspot. Luckily the bezels on the a52 5g are just thick enough to compensate. Always good to see your perspective on the corner style, I'm coming from a iphone 6s and love the symmetry.
My friend got the Samsung a70 I told him to get the pixel 4a because the photos it takes are amazing. But he kept telling me the a70 kept glitching , the photos were blurry idk what's wrong with it it was brand new so I told him you should have gotten the pixel 4a

A52's camera destroys many flagship phones when it comes to shooting in daylight in 64MP mode! Sometimes it even beats the Galaxy S21, despite that both phones have a 64MP mode. there is vig difference between both phones in this mode, though. While the A52's 64MP mode captures sharper details near the center and has somewhat blurry details around the edges, the S21's 64MP mode captures equally good details everywhere across the picture. So, it's all about personal preferences. Shooting daylight scenery is the biggest strength of S21's 64MP mode, while A52's 64MP mode is better for taking photos of people, because they usually stand in the middle of the picture and this is where it has an edge over the majority of other smartphones.

A52 for me, better refresh rate, also 3 digital buttons is great, and overall familiar since I’m upgrading from an A20
Watching on my Matte Black A52 5G! I love this phone. Before I got this one I had an iphone and I have to say I'm glad I switched! I love the size, the build quality and the long lasting battery. The camera is amazing once you adjust the settings. 😍👍🏼

Haptics are better than the iphone 6s I am coming from. Stereo speakers are better than the iphone 11. I gave my brother my iphone 11 because of that and the display.
Think you should do the Samsung a52s running the New snapdragon 778g 6gb ram, and ads 4gb more ram from your internal storage, I broke my 21 ultra thought I was going to regret buying it man was I wrong you can play games at high settings like genshin impact call of duty pug g with no slowdown or overheating after 2 hours of play time, great at multitasking, editing watching movies and at the end of that still have battery at end of the day and I'm on it at least 8 hours a day as I'm a commercial drone pilot the filming weddings takes plenty of time definitely here in the UK it's £410 and the normal a52 5g £400 so i think you be better getting a52s over pixel 5a and s52 5g you get more for your money, very close high end with out the big Price tags.

Kinda late reply but that's due to refresh rate difference and recording camera's fps. Pixel has 60hz display and a52 has 120hz

I just wanted to know, can you spot any different when you turn off the animation in developer setting while you turn on the 120hz? Because I used to turn off the animation since I use android. And that is the reason why I love android, I can turn off the animation setting..
I am curious to all you Pixel 5a 5G owners.....does it take an excruciatingly long time for the camera app to open on yours? On mine it does and it really SUCKS!!! Either double-clicking the power button or clicking the app it takes up to 5 seconds and I always miss the shot. Same goes for when changing from front to rear or rear to front lenses once the camera is open. NO way this should be happening when Google touts such high regards to their camera experience. Hope to hear back
Not the case for me. Do a software reset and see if that fixes it. Photos take a second. To process once taken but no issues opening the app and snapping a shot

Pixel 5a should have atleast had a90hz panel, high refresh panels make such a big difference in the overall experience of the phone now a days, i wouldn't go back to a 60hz panel after having a high refresh one for so long already.
Really love the look of 5a, the display disappoints though, no high refresh.

I don't like how Samsung's front facing cameras are a little blurred out. Makes you look like you have an airbrush filter on. And the colors are a more washed out. This one is better than some of their other ones (I ended up returning the S7 because the selfie cam was so blurry lol) but it still doesnt look as good as sharper and more accurate cameras like the Pixel's
I think it's pretty safe to say that the A52 is the better phone and that the Pixel has the better camera. If the camera happens to be your top priority and you want a Samsung device, why not go for the S20 FE? The FE vs. The 5A is probably a better comparison. I haven't used the 5A, but I had a 3A and the software and the hardware were both pretty bad. Stock Android used to be such a clean software during the Nexus days and now it has a bunch of bloatware from Google apps. Calling it stock android is pretty much a joke at this point. It's android with Google's skin on top of it. My Samsung devices actually use less ram than my 3A and I'm assuming that the 5A's software is similar to the 3A's. One UI on the other hand is actually a pretty clean and underrated software. I don't know why it has the reputation of having tons of bloatware. It's not like the old Samsung phones with TouchWiz. I don't use any of the Samsung apps aside from the gallery, the music player, and the video editor (which are all great by the way) so I don't even use the galaxy store. I'm looking at my apps that are currently running in the background and the only Samsung app that's running in the background right now is Video Call Effects. If you want to uninstall or disable some of the bloatware that the phone comes with just go to apps, click on system apps, and disable the ones that you don't use.. The software on the A52 is really clean if you do that. As far as hardware, the A52 isn't a flagship phone so you can't really compare it to the Note series or the S series. That being said, the build quality and the display are pretty much identical to the S20 FE. It just has a headphone jack and a worse camera, but besides that the high end A line (A52 & A72) are very similar to the low end S line (S20 FE). One thing that's really important to note is that the A71 is actually almost as good as the A52 and the A72. If any of you are on a really tight budget, I would recommend the A71 over these phones. I'm sure you can find one of those for a really cheap price if you buy it used or refurbished. Not sure if they sell them new anymore. The A51 on the other hand was pretty bad so stay away from that phone.
I have a Samsung A52 (LTE) 6/128gb and ufff, its beautiful. Works great. Takes good pictures and has an awesome screen paired with a great volume. The only thing I'd say its "bad" from this phone is its battery life but I suspect im doing something wrong with it. (I have an average of 6hs on screen time)
Note: I have had mid range phones my entire life, my previous phone was a Moto Z3 play, which is literally trash compared to this one haha.
The in-display fingerprint reader works great, A LOT better than the physical one on the Moto. This one can read my print even after a shower, works great! (Face recognition as well).
ok sorry for another comment lol but I just watched the Asphalt 9 part and wtf, the LTE A52 works better than the 5G version. I've played it for a while to see how it works and works a lot better on my phone ._.
Check online for tips on battery saving. There are many settings that can be adjusted to help with battery life. The apps like to suck the juice.
I would go with A52 5G..because im oneui fans plus A52 5G is more all rounder,perfect than pixel 5A 5G..its got a few features that flagship has like 120hz,3 years os and 4 years security updates,in display finger print scanner plus it has expandable storage which makes this phone is more full packaged compared with pixel 5A 5G
For my next phone, I don't mind the discrepancy of a little screen size, I need something a bit simpler. Google has that trait.

I would go for A52 5G since it is better overall and also more perfect and full package..and speaking about software both android skin are equally good and it depent on user preferences
For me the biggest strike against the A52 5G (or really any Samsung phone) is One UI.
Or imho the ability to add so much more storage than the Pixel. I have a hard time looking at those side by side and thinking one would feel bigger than the other. I noticed that the Pixel screen is cut quite a bit more at the top than the Samsung as well.
I dislike One UI as well, which is why I snatched the Pixel (3) launcher years ago and dumped it onto every Android Phone I've ever owned since the Moto G4
I'm in Canada and I'm growing pretty tired of the repeated snubs to Canada. I'm seriously considering skipping Pixel phones from now on. I've owned all the nexus phones and all of the pixels except for the 5a. I'm seriously thinking about jumping ship and moving on to a different manufacturer for the first time in many years. Canada has always been the redheaded stepbrother that gets treated with indifference. Samsung has a pretty effective program that they don't seem to have a problem sharing access to Canadian customers. I hear the blah blah chip shortage crap but there's always been some reason from Google for Canada to get the short stick .... Always. Samsung is starting to look very appealing with its new software update policy.
Jump ship and move to Samsung. I've had both Google phones and Samsung phones as my daily drivers in the past and Samsung phones are way better for daily usage. Of course the camera on the Pixel is better, but there's more to a phone than just the camera.
Curious I'm guessing getting an unlocked version from Amazon wouldn't work? Otherwise yes you are very much a step child.
@@soulfury123 probably not. Unlocked doesn't mean that it'll work with all carriers. My phone is unlocked (Latin American version of the Galaxy A52), but it only works with T-Mobile in the USA.
I Like The A52 5G Better But I still Have the A51 4G & It Still Works Awesome the only thing I don't like about the A51 4G is that it only has a 60htz Refresh Rate but I love that the A51 4G is Super AMOLED

i have the note 20 ultra and the s10 and personally the higher refresh rate isnt a massive game changer. The note is clearly smoother and faster but the diffrence isnt massive like allot of tech reviewers point out. However, I do reduce the animations and am using nova launcher which already gives the impression my phone runs fast and smooth, perhaps that affects my perception of the high refresh rate!!.
I've heard that the ear speaker is more garbled can you confirm or deny?

Great vid of a compelling comparison. One point to consider is software updates. If the A52 is getting 4 yrs of support then that kind of makes up for it being an older device. Think the pixel model gets 3 yrs? Glad Google stepping it up w pixel 6. At any rate, they both offer great value. Google Fi should've added the A52 instead of A32.
There is no way Samsung supports their phones more than Google. Google has 5 years of support, compared to 4 on samsung.

I've used both Samsung and Pixel and have to say Stock Android is just better. It's just smoother and updates are available right away. But when it comes to feel and looks, Samsung feels like a true premium device. I do miss Samsung's selfie mode. All I have to do is open and close a wave 🙋 and photo taken.

@@cosmicle0 I have a 4a 5G. My gf just picked up this A52 samsung. After using it a bit myself and comparing to my 4a I've had for about 6 months I can honestly say the screens look identical and the A52 camera doesn't touch my 4a.
Pixel certainly does a better job overall capturing the photo accurately. Whereas I've heard you get more pop out of Samsung.
The blacks looked darker on the Pixel and better in general at least on this video.
A52 5g gets my vote and own one, the pixel 5a is nothing but a refurbished 4a 5g that you can't even get any more because they were pulled of the market to make the 5a, Samsung 120hz screen and faster charging with the ability to expand storage is more valuable than nice pictures from the 5a
A52. Because pixel isn't available in most countries. It's their loss.
It should probably be noted that this is really only specific to North America. If you're literally anywhere else in the world, these are certainly not the best options.

I really don't like the punch hole in the top middle of the phone. I like it to the top left. Just like what Google did.
Placing it in the top middle literally makes it look like there is a hole in screen which is very distracting.
For me having it in the corner totally ruins the horizontal view because my hands create this odd shadowing that acts like a blindspot. Luckily the bezels on the a52 5g are just thick enough to compensate. Always good to see your perspective on the corner style, I'm coming from a iphone 6s and love the symmetry.

My friend got the Samsung a70 I told him to get the pixel 4a because the photos it takes are amazing. But he kept telling me the a70 kept glitching , the photos were blurry idk what's wrong with it it was brand new so I told him you should have gotten the pixel 4a
