She literally cannot stop being based.
People got mad at Calli for just asking them to make content. Pippa here, though, is just giving themthe tough talk every parent should have.
Vtwitters are not people man.
@@TheOmegaCloud Damn. You right.
Calli's a mess of a vtuber though. She hates what she does and hates the culture. Plus has doxxed herself and those around her on multiple occasions.
Pippa isn’t a target for idol schizos tho
Vtweeters and /vt/ idiots co opt any and all other controversy bullshit to bolster the drama
@@TheOmegaCloud Full Homo but without the sapiens.
Damn, Pippa continues to be based on everything she talks about.
Holy shit that tiktok comment was brutal wtf.
Shes not wrong but she just murdered like, half the fucking platform.
Good. *That's one less loose end*
I mean yeah but it's a thing that needs to be said.
It's basically what keeps me and several other people I know, off the platform, and every tiktok-wannabe feature on other platforms.
They find a sound or a video or something and everybody latches onto it and does the same exact fucking thing until everybody has had enough and nobody watches it anymore, and then they go to the next thing, and latch onto that.
It's truly zero effort content.
timestamp?
@@outtriggermy brother it is the second half of this miniscule clip 😅
A lot of people forget that most (if not all) of the hololive girls and boys (especially the later gens) already were content creators, like Gura.
Exactly. I like to use Calli as an example (mostly because she's gotten as close to confirming her past as her contract will allow). Calli did not become wildly talented because she joined hololive. She was accepted into hololive because she was talented and then hololive gave her a stage that had more eyes on it. Yes, the holomems gets a lot of help with things like contracts and management, but those resources were given to them because they can make good use of it for their parent company.
I think only Subaru wasn't a content creator before (And Yagoo really had a good nose there)
@@MrNorker77 yagoo got eyes for talent
@@MrNorker77 honk
@@Confron7a7ion7 I remember Calli saying too that if the vtuber thing didn't work out well that she'd still be producing music.
She didn't put all her eggs in one basket which is a major factor why she's successful
This reminds me of an old, OLD clip of George Lucas. He was caught by a freelancer from TMZ coming out of, I believe it was a hotel he was staying at. The guy is filming him, and he asks for an autograph.
George says 'ok, who do I make it out to?' the guy says 'Oh I just need your name'.
Now, for those who don't know, the reason why you *WOULDN'T* want your name on an autographed picture, is because you're looking to *SELL* it, likely on ebay or something. This guy isnt asking George for an autograph because he's a fan of his work, and wants something to commemorate their chance meeting with, he's a hustler.
George is writing out his name, he's giving this guy the autograph and he says "You know, instead of running around hollywood, chasing autographs to pawn off for a couple hundred dollars, you could be making movies, you've got-"
The guy cuts him off and he's like "Oh no I can't, I can't do what you do."
George looks this guy DEAD in the eyes, his eye go wide, and he just says "YES. YES YOU CAN. How do you think _I_ started? You can do it, *anyone* can do it, you just need to do it, you just need to start."
What transpires is a back and forth between the two, mostly just the guy being kinda rude and trying to hurry George along, while George passive-aggressively tries to disengage from the conversation. But it's like...
No artist, no entertainer, begins where they're at now. Gura, as an example, had several years of singing, gaming, streaming, and comedy voice acting experience under her belt. It's *not* a stretch to imagine Gura, before she was Gura, sending out auditions for a NUMBER of things, english dubs for anime, Vtuber agencies, ect ect. It's no surprise then that Gura's last update before Gura became Gura, was a shrill expression of joy.
She'd done it. Her work finally paid off. No more 'xD ePic dRuuNk loLi xD sTrEEaMS heheha xD cooooowboooy' content for her, she finally had turned those years of shitposting into a meaningful career.
The same is true for like, Calli. Probably *ESPECIALLY* Calli. Calli has like, the better part of a decade trying to make it as a rapper and voice actor. She's worked with half a dozen people and studios, and I'm betting as a fucking *GAIJIN... WOMAN.* it'd be hard for her to sell J-Rap to BOTH american mainstream music studios *AND* japanese music studios.
But it's not a bad resume to send to Hololive. What's she got to show for that? Number 1 single IN. THE. WORLD for a time, a huge deal with the biggest music media corp on the planet... like, these are things she gets because she had the platform, sure, but she doesnt have the platform without the skills she has, and she doesnt have those skills without practice. Hololive could have *EASILY* given her position to a different content creator, like, I dunno, Lee and Lie has been trying to break into the SAME industry, at the SAME time. Maybe she applied to HoloEn, maybe, HoloCorp felt Calli was more the natural personality they were looking for in Mori Calliope. Frankly, it doesnt matter, the fact EITHER could have been a Vtuber comes squarely down to the skills they possess, developed over time.
Take. The first. Step.
The clip every vtweeter needs to see ong, should be the first video on homepage for phase connect applications
Nah, the average vtweeter doesn't care about facts.
These plebs think gura just shat out a following, the girl has been putting out content since she was like 12, tried to get into va work, then took off doing meme songs and a bit of streaming and then got into hololive. These people have the nerve to get pissy for not getting in into one of the biggest vtuber companies with a turd of personality and damn zero backlog.
People always judge a book by the cover. Everyone has their own history
People shouldn't be so quick to judge
It's kinda funny because we can take pride in helping Gura get there because before Pippa Gura was the 4chan shitposting gremlin.
I remember hearing her voice in some of her meme songs and going "wait... she has a naturally good singing voice... it just needs to be refined" and what does Gura do on her debut? Impress not just people unfamiliar with her past, but a whole new group of fans PLUS the JP bros who saw her absolutely obliterate with her own cover of Ride on Time.
Anyone who says she got lucky reeks of jealousy. She got to where she got to because she was talented and funny, and I see a little bit of that in Pippa as well.
Wait youre telling me Gura didnt just magically summons 1M Subscriber out of thin air?
Honestly yeah, these bozos don't sound like they'd be enjoyable to watch even in an ironic sense ala DSP and his trainwreck of a life, they're just boring, miserable people with a crab bucket mindset.
You can physically feel the angry dial slowly getting turned up to 11
I didn't get to see this part of the stream, but I love how Gura basically repeated point for point what Pippa said early on in the stream during the application writing.
Oh no, Pippa! Don’t tell people to take personal responsibility! Then how would they have time to complain about other people being successful in life and demanding that it be handed to them instead?!
There is a good reason that almost every major vtuber signed to a company has some "previous life exposed" video made on them, because the companies are looking for people who already have some internet entertainer qualifications.
"Nothing is stopping you from putting in the f******g work" is something I should be reminded of more often. Speaking as someone who isn't even who she's talking to.
2:49 from this moment on she spoke to my soul. bless her and this speech. she is a better person than most people.
Oh. So here is the "there's nothing stopping you from putting in the f-ing work yourself", and "all you do is bitch complain..." lines from the Moonshine animation.
Talking about stuff you struggle/d with and in what ways you've tried to work on yourself - whether you are successful or not - is a great topic for any audition or job interview. If it ever comes up, describing how you realized you have a problem or a gap in your skillset and then what you have done to alleviate it is most often exactly the thing people are looking for - for someone who can deal with shit that is thrown at them. Of course, actual experience and portfolio are the most important things, but your weaknesses aren't as detrimental as they might seem - as long as you show you've been working on them.
A great channel that has info on how to pass interviews is The Companies Expert, he is a guy that used to be CEO that has videos on how to pass interviews to get hired, which also taught me interviewing in a company is mostly a mind game where the interviewers talks in code, instead of asking direct questions, because they want to fish for info they can't legally ask or they want to know if you will be a pain in the ass to work with (since if asked people won't say "yes! Matter of fact I am insufferable").
Calli: Stop hate tweeting and made something of yourself
Pippa: You're not it, get good.
Calli made a whole vent album about them with her other brand lmao
A lot of this can apply to any other kind of job. A portfolio of any kind can help no matter what. Look at Hunt Down the Freeman. Game was garbage but the guy who made it still got hired at Activision Blizzard as a product coordinator. Interviews / auditions are just advertisements for your portfolio.
So that's why their games have been garbage as of late.
@@heyesphilip "as of late"

@@SycrithTheSquid Blizzard? There was a time where they were put at high-regards by gamers alike. Every games released were quality and looked fondly till this day.

@@SycrithTheSquid pre 2013 Activision had some good games ngl.
That explains a lot of things and also works against the point it seems like you're trying to make...
Literally applies to getting a decent job. I had to take an extra 1.5 years post college building proper skills before anyone would hire me. It sucked but I’ve had a great 5 years at a job I love because of it
Same except I didn't actually do that I lied on my CV and that got me in.

Pippa stop spittin, you're overloading my fax machine!
I took a marketing class in college and they made it very clear you have to make a resume that specifically targets your desired place of work. Putting in the work can and will pay off. Just generic trying to apply for different companies with the same portfolio probably won’t work. Good Pippa take.
It felt like she was calling out someone in specific
nah she was calling out a lot of people
There are dozens to chose from.
Yeah, (you)
@@LowEffortClips the "kinda funny in a discord group" part? Probably, yeah
@@lemo2015 I can't believe pippa HATES bklemo
Bruh literally spend 2min on vtuber twitter to see just how insufferable THE MAJORITY of them are.
IRyS probably could’ve gotten in just by saying “so here’s a song cover I did, it has 142 million views and it was so good that 97% of the viewers thought it was the original”
side note: watch IRyS,she’s amazing
I agree and i love her cover of only my rail gun
I've sent in a number of auditions with the same tape for fun just to see what would happen and I was like damn what would I have to do to actually get noticed and stepping back looking at the work i would need to do, it really isn't something I want to pursue. I think there are thousands of people in the vtuber space that have never even dabbled with OBS but they seriously believe they're worth being supported by a brand, which is the insanity of the internet I guess.
To an extend I think their view is also skewed by the people who got in much earlier where there was a lot less demand in the vtuber market. Cover picked up some promising young talents that they felt would grow into strong idols but not necessarily with the largest amount of experience, but to get in like that now you'd have to invent a time machine and apply to Holo or Niji long before vtubers actually blew up.
The biggest X-factor Cover is looking for is personality, even if you aren't the most talented or funniest, if you're a hard working person who seems like they'd get along well with staff and the other talents you've already scored a lot of points. On the other hand, if you're an entitled drama magnet like most of the people complaining about Gura and Calli, you can be as talented as you want when your mere presence is poison.
There's another thing people seem to miss when discussing Gura. Yes, Gura had a famous persona before hololive, but she also got a lot of subs as soon as her account was announced (well before we ever heard her to know who she was before). You can't equate Gura current success to her past fame. There's always more to it than that. The "Gawr Gura" account may have grown VERY quickly, but that account still started at "0 subs" just like everyone else does.
Yes, I know who Gura used to be before Hololive. But I subbed and enjoyed her content before I put it together and realized who she was. I watched that first "Maneater" stream (because I just bought the game as well and wanted to see someone stream it), so I watched. She made me laugh, so I subbed.
She put in the work. Not all Vtubers (or any streamer for that matter) has their accounts grow at the same speed. But one thing usually holds true. Good entertainers get subs. Make me laugh? You got a sub. It's that simple.
There's no question that the Hololive branding does carry a lot of power (helping with the initial inflow of subs on announcement). Even so, the Hololive branding has been built on the backs of a hell of a lot of people who slowly built up their following just like the talents themselves before joining. People expect new holos to be good and talented because it's a consistent aspect of the brand at this point.
They really have done a really good job with recruiting!
I didn't realize who Gura used to be until a couple months in after someone in a clip video comments mentioned it.
I dont have much info about guras past content creator name, but apparently a lot of people think the gura name is a massive step up bc of certain things
@@secondcite3840 its Senzawa
Actually good advice for any audition/portfolio. Don’t put in everything you’ve ever done. Keep it small and specialized. If it’s an art portfolio, don’t put in all your work, put in your best five.
She really is the most based woman in the Vtuber sphere, huh
a good message, delivered in pippa's own way. She truly has a way with words
I hate vtweeters (Debut TBA) Always complain about how "nobody watch me because i'm not in [company] " and they spend hours in twitter when they can try to improve or try to stream, even with only to two people watching they can be better
It really is just doing the grind if this is what you're truly wholeheartedly passionate about. Takane Lui applied 5 times before being accepted. Sora started off with 13 original viewers, and suisei's rags to riches story is famous. They literally had to struggle and claw their way up; if you're not even going to put in half of that struggle you shouldn't be surprised that you don't make it
lol calling out those who believe in nepotism hires
Pippa so powerful.
Blunt and based.
Pippa saying all of this with the song of healing in the bg hits hard
At this point when I look at Pippa I just always wait for the moment she lets loose. God bless the insane rabbit
Dang, from the way she's talking you'd think she's really passionate about this topic
People forget that gura earned her viewership by herself with her own hard work before joining hololive
This is a clip that should be played at a job search class
Luck = Preparedness + Opportunity
There are doers and there are Twitter users.
They complaining about Gura already having follower when she joined. Well she put the work before she joined Cover. She's not even allowed to call onto her previous followers and had to maintain Gura instead of using the previous identity.
I have nothing but disdain for vtweeters, they have envy for anybody that tries, and only work to roll in drama and bring others down
I actually didnt know anything about Pippa at all but she is based as hell for this and I will be subscribing
She's so underrated... This clip is very underrated.... ...people who lack self awareness should watch this..
“The most important step a man can take isn't the first one. It's the next one. Always the next step.”
This needs to be the next Shia Ted talk. Nothing but 100% JUST DO IT ENERGY.
i got called out by a rabbit. thx pippa
the most basest rabbit ever lived
next to Bugs Bunny
Pippa really out here dropping napalm on two entire platforms at once
Did I hear the Song of Healing?
EDIT: Now I realize why she put it in the video, people need healing after that spectacular roast they endured. lol
Pippa is now my top3 Oshi with this clip.
This woman is so based and so chad.
i love Pippa's energy
Fauna was doing asmr and some chill gaming prior to vtubing and surprise surprise fauna's niche at the start was asmr and gaming. When Fauna joined there was no english asmr niche really being filled outside of a rare gimmicky stream maybe from Calli. Kinda seems like that is how they scout in general. Looking for existing talent or people who can fill a role to appeal to a more broad audience.
You're audition/portfolio should reflect your style of expression and play to your own strengths.
It's essentially a job application after all, talk yourself up and sell yourself.
Wild people need to hear this from a cartoon rabbit.
hello based department i like to report a virtual rabbit for being based
This is based and a healthy dose of reality check
DEI consulting firms/groups/programs could learn a LOT from that speech
immensely based
Never filter yourself, pippa
what she said applies to every single creative field and people reject it everywhere, because it's just way easier to bitch on twitter and avoid responsibility/self-awareness
Luckily I don't give a shit about being a vtuber so this rant don't hurt me
just another clip of pippa being extremely based
If Pippa roasted vtweeters any harder than she did, she would've went full LTG on them.
This is actually great advice though
I like how she just goes like full Jordan Peterson with all that stuff about taking responsibility. There is inherent truth in that :/
This is why I love Pippa.
A lot of inexperienced newly graduates are like that. Apply, rejected, and whine and complain. Just apply to some other places. Sometimes we reject you because someone as good as you just got accepted and it's simply your name that leads with J and not A, so the first name in. Something stupid like that is a thing. Just grow a spine and keep trying. Luck is a thing. Don't let it beat you.
I friggin' love this woman
I love how people think that an argument is "Well she built herself to success already, so no wonder when she went to someone having already had success in the field they chose to work with her"
Like yes, that's how it works, ask any management team out there, if they could find someone already having a notable and surefire level of success how fast do you think they would jump to get themselves involved with that team
Not all that different from applying for just about any type of job really. The hiring manager is likely gonna be more keen on hiring someone who already has some experience in the field, rather than take a chance on someone with very little, to no prior experience whatsoever. That's just how it is
Pippa is just based incarnate
When the pandemic hit so many people tried to hitch their wagon to streaming/vtubing. So much low effort trash out there. So many people thinking they can just sit in front of a camera and get views and if not slap an anime avatar over it!
Pippa out here spitting fax.
Pippa gets in cause she's based AF.
pippa if you get too annoyed with this gig, you would make a really good manager. Just give every new girl this speech. If they take it to heart they can make it. That advice was money for anyone getting started in any career. Brilliant.
They won’t hire me because I don’t want to be hired. XD
Brutal but honest.
Imagine that you're the hiring manager for a company, and you have two applicants wanting to work for you. Applicant #1 is somebody who already has a decent amount of experience with the type of work you would be hiring them to do. Applicant #2 has very little, to no prior experience. Applicant #1 would pretty much already know how to do the job right from the get go, where as applicant #2 would need a significant amount of training.
Question 1: (assuming that you're not a greedy a hole who just wants to under pay their employees) which of the two do you think would make the most sense to hire?
Question 2: do you think vtuber agencies work any differently than other companies in terms of business practices?
*standing up applauding*
Ok, now I’m convinced she’s based
Goofy smile at the start lol
Vtubers are vtubers because they have an avatar. Idiots who claim to represent vtubers without an avatar is the equivalent of an engineer who never proved they could screw a light bulb. With how intelligent many of them are, I am surprised they don't eat light bulbs.
Pippa “Coalfax” Pipkin
A good rule to follow in life:
If you are complaining about someone keeping you from reaching success, in whatever form you want it in, most of the time the one keeping you from success is YOU.
Getting success is extremely difficult and a lot of hard work.
Maintaining success is even harder and more difficult.
If you want an easier path to success perhaps mediocrity is where you are destined to end up in life. That's fine as well, just stop bitching about it.
Gura probably showed that OK Boomer clip to Cover and straight up "You're Hired"
Pippa just got my sub because I respect the based takes she has.
She should probably realize the thing shes talking about could be said for anything else that takes having a portfolio and experience for, even in game designing and animated things you need to grab at voice actors that can hit all the required marks. Even in any jobs that as pippa said "takes time" to get better or bigger in. While I do think Pippa has good intentions talking about it, I just kinda feel like it was something that was already assumed I guess because the saying "hardwork, time and Effort pay off" exists, just sounds like she was going at the users and people for having differing opinions and views on organizations and talents..
Now if only she worked on herself and brushed her teeth.
Becoming a content creator is hard af bro
WHY IS SHE SO BASED
They said the perfect woman doesn't exist...
Still don't know much about this rabbit woman but my grandmother once told me long long ago in my sophomore year of highschool that I had two choices in life going forward. I could 1, create for myself a situation where I looked good to people and would be valuable to be hired, or 2, bitch and moan about how the world's wrong and see if that ever changed anything. She explained that yeah, I might be the one who's bitching got the world greased finally but odds are good that it's a lot better of a bet to improve myself to fit the world and get what I wanted that way rather than try and force the world to change for me. "World's alot bigger than you" she told me. Which I mean, she was 4 feet tall so she'd know about shit being bigger than me or her.
"If someone like Fauna is sending in an audition..."
What if someone like LemonLeaf is sending in an audition, how would it be different?
Isn't the unfortunate thing about what really helped Gura build up a following really well was being "haha, funny depressed drunk"? It also takes a certain type of mindset to get into show business of any kind including doing things that isn't exactly good for your mental or physical health. Just look into a lot of the backstage borderline abuse the original Three Stooges had to put up with cause slapstick was their thing. The point I'm trying to make isn't to scare people away, rather stardom comes with a lot of unfortunate conditions one has to put up with and keep away from the camera so that the audience can laugh at the funny entertainer.
Gura helped MAKE hololive EN what it is today, and so did all of the other talents who are part of it right now. They took a chance back when hololive wasn't a guaranteed success, and most of them had their own careers that they could have chosen to keep working on. We have them to thank in part for making the EN vtuber industry what it is right now. Corporate and indie, probably none of it would be the same without HoloMyth. You've gotta respect that at least.
Bro, pippa is the basest person I know (except the CEO of Zenius, Sabine Hossenfelder, and David Hume to name a few), damn, very based, very true, I agree 💯.
This was great
Self promotion is extremely uncomfortable to do, and will get you yeeted from some site, groups, subreddits etc. I feel like a lot of these v tweeters are trying to self promo by pity if they do stream, or just don’t want to make content without a pre-established audience and try to get that by exploiting the collective resentment of successful people.
That said you should listen to my music.
Stubby bunny, telling it like it is... all these people that think anyone with a mic and a model can be the next big vtuber sensation.
Take a step back and look. They work, they work hard.
I even thought it about once upon a time, I looked at the requirements, the tech, the different styles and approaches, I decided that it is not something I could do.
Least ways not solo, A, I am too damned unmotivated. b, I really need someone to bounce off of.. in terms of content and talking and humor.
Me gaming or working or even react Andy watching, more happens when paint is drying. But give me someone to point and counter point with, give me a Costello to my Abbott. And it gets pretty damn funny.
Without that, serious non-starter. So quit complaining about it, do it, or don't. You do not even need an excuse because well, work is hard folks. Even 'fun' work.
