“She Used to be Mine” is from one of my all time favorite musicals, “Waitress”. While I was in New York, my parents and I were able to go see it and I left feeling so inspired. I decided to add “She Used to be Mine” to our set list for the New York and Boston shows a few hours before we were scheduled to perform, because I felt so drawn to the song and it’s message.
This song teaches us that sometimes life doesn’t always turn out the way we planned, or the way we thought we wanted it to. Sometimes life throws us big changes, and they make us question where to go from there. But sometimes, because of the unexpected, life ends up becoming even more beautiful than we could have imagined. How wonderful it is to know that we never stop growing, and that despair needn’t ever feel permanent.

She is very genuine in her interpretation. In 20 years she will have more "grit" to insert from her life experiences.
