- We spent a little over six months living with the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara Hybrid and here is what we like and dislike about it. Does the hybrid tech offer a more rounded ownership experience than rivals like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq and MG Astor?

Any idea about battery lifecycle and it’s replacement cost ?
Assuming the average milage of a Mild hybrid to be around 15 km/l and Strong Hybrid to be around 25 km/l, the amount that you would save for running 75,000 km if you are driving a smat hybrid instead of a strong hybrid comes to around Rs: 50,000/-. lowest trim of strong hybrid is 1,50,000 is more expensive than the highest trim of mild hybrid. So you shouldn't be buying this model purely on running cost if your usage is not much.

When do you use drive mode ‘B’?
I had a TD few months back. Few observations
1. Feels cheap compared koreans or germans. Especially interiors. Power window switches are straight lift from old swift.
2. Poor boot space
3. Switching to engine from motor is not as smooth as city hybrid
4. Can buy if you are a maruthi fan and looking only for efficiency

For me , I don’t think i can forget the cons i mentioned if i am getting good fuel economy. Honda city felt much more premium than this one. But more expensive for the full option variant. If i am spending 25 lakhs + on a car it has to have some premium , it shouldn’t carry the same switch gear or steering of a sub 10 lakh rupee car. May be different for others. But for me its like that. Boot space is another problem. If I can’t use my boot for airport trips, it can’t be forgotten if i am getting good fuel economy. To conclude it doesn’t feel like a 25 lakhs car from inside or while driving. Atleast for me. Especially if you have driven the german competitors. I am not a fan of koreans anyways
Nvh is poor in city. Agree. Still that feels premium than this one. Unfortunately. I meant the switching between engine and motor feels great and vibration less in city compared to this especially while idling. Honda is ridiculously expensive. Not forgetting the reality though.
To me GV makes sense when you have to munch more miles per day. That premium ‘ness’ is not there is what i felt when you are spending 25 lakhs. Skoda and vw c suvs are not up to the levels of old vento or rapid. Yes. But still feels better than this one.

What is the reason PHEV is not promoted in India? They sound very interesting, driving 40kms on battery and then go hybrid.

This model is almost 3L more than mild hybrid so I am not sure if this is economical compared to mild hybrid. We will end up in less monthly fuel bill but pay it intially 😀. I would like to see plug-in hybrid in India so that while we use it in city we can run on ev completely and only on highways fossil fuel is needed. This way pollution in the city can be reduced to an extent

Whatever you have said about suspension is accurate. If the suspension is more on the comfort side, there will be too much wallowy effect with passengers and luggage and the feeling will be very dizzy and to vomit. So its better for all vehicles to keep the suspension on the stiffer side so that it would be more stable in most of the situations.

Appears to be the right choice for the majority. How is its performance in high ranges, especially stopping and starting on steep inclines. Does the motor torque good enough.
It is good on inclines, the motor supplements the engine…you’ll have to live with the three cylinder engine’s thrum and CVT whine

How good is this for highways of TN / KA . Is the 3 cylinder a negative for cruising at 100/120 kmph?
Can we use a sunfilm to solve the sunroof issue ?
It is alright for cruising. Not it’s usual efficient coz the engine will be on for longer periods and your fuel efficiency will be around 22-24kmpl if you do 120.
Sun film will do it…but I didn’t do it because I enjoy the full transparency of the glass with the blind retracted when it’s not sunny
Who is the driver seat? Is it comfortable as getting lumber support or not? Back pain people will support with this seat? Please advise anyone. I have plan to take this car…

Liked how you put the seat belt on your son, thanks for that tip. I own one of these, clocked just over 5k kms, gives 20 plus kmpl in bangalore city and much more on highway. Very happy with the experience.

@@ContentWithCars I am commenting here because it is bothering me, but don't you think it sets a bad example to show such a small kid sitting in the front seat without a car seat? My understanding is that children under 12 are not supposed to sit in the front because if for any reason the air bag deploys, it can cause serious injuries to them.
I am sure you were careful and took the needed precautions, but we need better education on child safety in cars.
I would request you to do a video on how to ride safely with kids in cars.

Bro, how you are making 30+ average on daily drive? I am driving hyryder, and I get an average of 21-22 kmpl on my daily drive in bangalore. very light on pedal and making sure to be on EV most of the time. Still I am not able to make it to 25+. Any advice ?
I’m getting 25+ easy in Bangalore city in Normal mode. I’ve realised it’s very sensitive to AC temp and Tyre pressure. I try to keep AC at 24.5 and tyres always at 34psi. Maybe the same might work for you.
Like people said, Aston stole the show, but then Beta kiska hai. Content is good, can we also add some more factors like the noise level and if it were to go on ghat sections, how effective is the engine since this is a 3 cylinder.
Thanks. Noise isn’t that intrusive. We can measure it, but most people can’t tell the decibels levels apart

I have met with a minor accident 4 years back due to that jerking feeling with my Baleno. I think it's there with Maruti from years. Same story. Unexpectedly jumped a speed breaker and vehicle didn't stop after applying break due to Jerkiness.
