Hey Will, be sure to keep your CO2 Carbon Monoxide detector lower than the level you sleep. Carbon dioxide has a higher density than the other gases found in air, which makes CO2 heavier than the air. So it's better to get a signal too early than too late...Happy camping.

I think the confusion is that RVs tend to have a combination LP/Propane and Carbon Monoxide detector. Propane does tend to settle at the floor and so those combo detectors are placed low in the RV. Carbon Monoxide tends to diffuse throughout the air and so there are a lot of differing opinions as to the best placement (high or low) and it seems to matter less the height at which you place a CO detector versus that you have one somewhat near the potential source of CO coming into the living space. Also, CO and CO2 are different things. CO - Carbon Monoxide versus CO2 - Carbon Dioxide.

I often sleep in my van, the thing with sleeping in a small space is that it is cozy and you feel safe in a strange place. Part of the experience is finding the place where it feels safe. I like it most when it is a rainy night.

I'm guessing that the euphoria that you feel in the Van as your own space is akin to having your first home ... When eventually you get around to buying your first flat/apartment/house you'll understand that great feeling and the Van is a huge step in that direction. It's a step into adulthood !
When the Kitchen and storage is finally built-in that will be another step in creating your own place ... and it's coming along nicely.
Having Heating, Power and Running Water (soon) gives you a mobile Bedsit.
Good Luck with keeping up the motivation.

I use a marine silencer on the exhaust to stop the droning noise and then suspend the fuel pump by bolting the bracket to a short piece of garden hose. I then bolt the other end to the van chasis which reduced the ticking a fair bit, I've got pics which explain it better

There are a number of smaller Stone Circles that you could visit in the Van ... Castlerigg in Wales, Stanton Drew very close to Bristol, Avebury in Wiltshire, etc ... You could even do a 'Stone Circle Tour' ! Out of season these places are pretty deserted and you should be able to park relatively easily ... Some of them are even quiet in the Summer.
I suggest that you invest in a pair of proper walking boots also (to keep your feet warm and dry) ...
Another idea would be to visit Windsurfing and Kitesurfing beach areas for great footage and pretty chilled people.

”Beddy’s” (bedding that zips on)…A little pricy you be the judge. Also your window situation. Maybe tension rods for in the window frame with magnets in the bottom. You could literally cut out and glue =

I used black curtains you would use for your bedroom and cut them to size. My only issue for them is they fray along the edges you cut so you need to hem the edges. These work well for the most part. Of course if you want to add some insulation you will need to either pay somebody to do it or learn how to sew.

I've done all you said afterwards and the best is the wind and the rain for me :) I sleep with mine on the lowest which is 8 degrees C all night - once it's up and running it takes 0.5a and goes for days on 100ah. The lit up tree you passed gave me an idea: Since you're based in South West London area (best part of London). Go for the extreme stealth option: -Lower Morden Lane. It's the most Christmassy street in London. Do up your van with as much lights as possible so you blend in!
On a more serious note, have you considered a less is more approach with the van? I think the more spartan minimalist vibes suit you well. I don't think you need a full kitchen set up with fancy cabinets and custom made bits and bobs. Just the bed, storage under it. A chair and a table big enough for your gas hob and you're done.

Wooow, I live a few roads away from Lower Morden Lane.

I've got a vito and a webasto, set it on the lowest setting and it's on all night. I also leave extraction on all night, use you phone light in the dark to see the dust. It will shock you. Love to show you my simple set up if your in Oxford anytime.

Hi Will, I installed my pump under the van, so I can’t hear it when the heater is running ! The only noise I get is a low blowing of air from the heater vent. You might consider moving you pump ! Enjoying the videos.

What a difference between your Ford Galaxy and the Fiat Ducato. That Fiat makes everything so mutch better, standing up cooking etc etc...
I still remember when I was a truckdriver to let the diesel heather on all night. It didn't bother me,you'lle forget that tikking sound if you're tired enough.
Looking forward to see some more video's

Used night heaters for years in waggons, got to admit they don't seem as noisy as yours. Maybe the camera mic makes it worse. Loving the van build, can't wait to see it finished👍

You should do one of those NC 500 type trips across the country in your van again. Those were such great series.

You know you can get small projectors that you can hook your phone up to via bluetooth, get one of those and a type of projector screen you can pull down just in front of the driver's cab, and you have yourself a mini cinema on wheels. Just something for you to consider, save you watching a tiny screen

Not wishing to be controversial or anything but my 5kw Chinese diesel heater stays on 24/7 during the winter. at 8 degrees it takes less diesel to keep it running than it does to warm up from freezing cold. I know someone is going to tell me I'm wrong but I don't care. This is my second year doing it.
Cheers Will, love the channel 👍

Carbon monoxide detector needs to go mid height, not way up high or way down low. Glad you didn't suffocate, lmao! That looked like so much fun.
