  • Ain't that what it's all really about? Our diversity is one of our biggest strength but also one of the biggest things that divide us.

My family came on the Mayflower. 404 years and counting of working toward an ever-more-perfect union. Since I learned this I gain great perspective from this centuries of ebb and flow. I am confident we will get there with hard work and common sense. Never satisfied. Always proud.

I really like your channel, I’ve leaned a lot and appreciate your point of view. I agree that the diversity of the people of this country make it great. We need to protect what we have and keep it safe, know our neighbors, look out for others. I hope so much who ever becomes President can fix the issues and it all works for the best for the USA and the world. Thanks for this post.

Couldn’t agree more Steve! United we stand divided we fall.

Exactly! Just no telling how high the possibilities could be if we really came together. About all I can do is my part and hope others can also. Thanks. Steve

to quote two old songs from long ago, "trying to make a living and doing the best I can." "we're all water from different rivers."

Yoko Ono hadn't heard that in forever. Kind of the way it is and no reason we can't compromise a little with so much in common. Just doing a little thinking out loud about that comment. Thanks. Steve

Amen. As Samuel Johnson once wrote - "As hope enlarges happiness, fear aggravates calamity." There are things that have not, and will never, change - Truth, Honesty, Compassion, Empathy - it's only to those lost in confusion that they seem to shift and flee, and that is where the demagogues swoop in and lead far too many astray and to their doom.

You got me on that one. I've heard or seen lots of quotes but I don't recall that one. Sums it up pretty well I think. Thanks. Steve

    Amen brother.
You should run for president. We really could use some reasonable, down to earth people in our government right now.

Our government has grown too large. Gov isn’t being good stewards of taxpayer money. We manage our finances in retirement and gov spends irresponsibly.

Just doing a little thinking out loud about that comment. Had a great day and week. Needed it, WVU lost to Penn State and the Packers lost last night. Seems like I can't win for losing. Oh well there is always next week. Take care and thanks. Steve

Professor Alan Lichtman made imhia prediction for 2024. He predicts Trump will lose. His predictions are usually correct.

Amen, Steve! I feel that the extreme 5% of both ends of the political spectrum try to split us 90% real life Americans. It's interesting that two of our wisest presidents (Honest Abe and Give Em Hell, Harry) came from the Midwestern heartland. Thanks again for your inspirational observations, Steve!

You're right and the news and media play it up. Can make you feel like the whole world is blowing up. Never thought about it but those Midwestern vales are strong. Thanks. Steve

Steve, I saw something pretty cool recently. Apparently, now you can have a QR code placed on a headstone that will take you the a website or a video that tells the untold story of the “-“ on that headstone. May not be for everybody, but it’s nice that we have the opportunity for our story to carry on for those who are interested. My paternal grandparents both passed before I was born, so my only knowledge of them comes from old photos and the occasional story shared by a relative who was part of their life; now those folks are becoming fewer and fewer. 😢

I believe I saw on one of Buzz's videos where he talked about that one time. Interesting possibility for some. Just before my dad got sick I wanted to do a video with him and mom. I thought about it too late. Shortly after he got sick and went down hill fast. Never got the opportunity but it sure would have been nice to have now. It's the small things that you miss the most. The sound of his voice or the little mannerisms he had. Same form my grandparents. Moms parents I can remember but dads died before I was old enough to remember much at all. Just there faces is about it. Thanks. Steve

Cynicism and seeking absolute safety killed this nation's ideals. It's sad and hard to be hopeful.

It is sad and hard to do especially when I've seen it different before. Sometimes I just need to take a step back and see how far I've come and grown even through all the mess that's happened over the years. Gives me a feeling of gratefulness and hope. Just doing a little thinking out loud about that comment. Thanks. Steve

“Having a safe place to grow up.” Maybe require licensing and insurance to purchase/own an assault rifle, that would be a great place to start. If you need a license & insurance to ride a moped or scooter, a weapon of war should require at least that same minimum. You say so much without actually saying anything. Pro tip: 10 minutes of useless platitudes feels like a waste of time, maybe have an opinion and state it clearly.
