- We have already had some pretty amazing running adventures this year but I really do think the best is yet to come! In this video series we are going to be following myself and Liga's training and preparation as we build towards our biggest and most challenging race of the year - Ultra X Jordan. We are both super excited for the event but we also feel a little bit out of our comfort zone as we have never taken on a multi stage race in these types of hostile conditions.

This is probably what Damian Hall calls type 2 fun, but you are both going to love Jordan! One of my friends ran the MDS last year and said it was one of the most life affirming experiences he had had.
Love the Soar kit, you definitely get what you pay for with running gear.
A great way to do jeat acclimation is a sauna, I did it for a run that I did and it worked well for the lack of heat where I live compared to the heat of the area I ran in.
Definitely a good way to prepare for a hot race 👍

I commented this elsewhere, but wondering if maybe you could incorporate tips for running on the beach/on sand in this series for people who like to run on the beach. Little things like shoes to wear, getting sand in your shoes and between your toes and how that affects blisters, etc. This series is gonna be lots of fun, and I’m excited for it 😊
This race looks like the shoe/sock combination will be a cardinal aspect!

You should go to the Merthyr Mawr in Wales if you want some serious sand dunes training. Have you never done the full distance MdS either?
The dunes are pretty good on our door step, we literally live 300m away from them Phil! No I haven’t run the MDS before. I was on the waiting list back in 2010 but by the time they’d got in touch with me saying that I had a place, I’d moved on with my running 👍

Which pack are you planning to use? I think the salomon adv skin 12 will be too small?
This will all be covered in our full kit break down video but we will be using our Salomon Adv skin 12 vests. The race actually allows you a bag at camp for all your previous, sleeping bags, clothing, food etc, so we only need to carry mandatory kit each day 👍

@@Run4Adventure On loose sand, the clear winner for me is a wide sole that is stable in the sand.
For me it's Caldera 7 (best and widest) and Catamount 2.
I'm interested to know what you decide on.
@@clemenshart I’m probably just going to choice a shoe that’s really comfortable and that causes me no issues over long distances. Something like the Saucony Xodus Ultra or the Merrell Agility peak 5 🤔
Are you going to get desert gaiters sowed on to your trail shoes as most runners do for MDS?
Was thinking the same thing.....the sand will surely be a big issue getting in your shoes.....how did you even manage on the training run with no gaiters?
Wonderful adventure, not sure how cold it gets at night in the desert
We will definitely be using desert gaiters in the race. It really is important to look after your feet in a race like this and desert gaiters will really help us do that. Hope this helps and thanks for watching 🙏
We are very use to running on the soft sand of the Towans, we’ve been running there for 15 years! You do get sand in your shoes but it doesn’t cause any issues over shorter distances 👍
