    Ugh! Hallelujah, finally!! A micro green video I know will be helpful and reliable. (I didn’t even watch it yet) I have tried a few times somewhat unsuccessfully so I just gave up on them. There are so many different videos and sources with conflicting information it’s hard to know what’s right. Use soil or not, (soil worked best but was a sparse stand of greens) grow on a paper towel (terrible outcome)or grow in the container with holes. (They just grew a few roots and molded-another fail). Geeze! I am sure there are more than one way to do these but when you’re brand new at it it gets confusing. So thank you thank you thank you 😊

      Yes Mary, 100% you CAN be successful. With greens, I ALWAYS grow in soil because that's where they will pull the nutrition from the last 4-5 days making these guys a powerhouse food. Using just water or paper towel is good for SPROUTS, which are just 5-day crops. So the key is 1) the initial soak 2) getting the seeds to successfully root in the soil and 3) watch them grow. It happens fast..its a 14-day crop. You got this!

    Sunflower does need soil to shed their seed hulls.

    I've had pea micro greens before; but, I think my favorite is sunflower micro greens. In 2019, when the farmers market was normal, I could get my fill of micro greens. One vendor routinely sold packaged micro greens for 2/$5. The radish micro greens that I bought were really spicy; so, I bought those only once.
    What would you do differently if you wanted to grow sunflower micro greens?

    • @TheRipeTomatoFarms
      @TheRipeTomatoFarms  3 роки тому +1

      LOVE the radishes Donna....but I do love my spice, ha ha! Sunflowers are soooo good. Only difference is they need weight on top of them until about Day 7 or 8. Helps with uniform growth and the shell removal. Also, I soak them for a little less time....18-24 hours instead.

    What do you do with these microgreens once you harvest them? Like how do you prepare them for eating? Do you eat them raw on their own? Make them into a salad? Cook them in some way? I've never prepared these as food and am very curious!
