What an absolutely perfect pairing Evans and Getz were! (and the pops and cracks of the LP recording make me feel like I'm listening to the album on my old record player) Sweet.
"...the musicianship from both of them..."? Like the drums and bass are not really an important part of the sound to behold? Well, "thanks for sharing", discokev100! -Doug Pratt, Atlanta, Georgia, USA
@edouglaspratt your reply to me come across as a bit mean sounding? Not sure if that was your intention. Just letting you know - give you a chance to reflect on your words. Music should be a space for love and compassion towards each other. Not for sarcasm or side swiping comments towards each other. You go easy on yourself now Doug. All the best from the UK.
This is quite a band. Full credit is due: the delicate sculptor of great muscle, Elvin Jones - membrane percussion; Richard Davis - bass (tracks 4-6, 9 & 10); Ron Carter - bass (tracks 1-3, 7, 8 & 11); Stan Getz - tenor saxophone; Bill Evans - piano. It's hard to produce great music with all all-stars. So this remarkably beautiful album is a remarkable production feat. For another example of all-stars in fluid power, listen close to the album "Kind of Blue", and especially to the track "All Blue" with Miles Davis, Bill Evans, I believe it's both saxophonists, John Coltrane and Julian "Cannonball" Adderley; bassist Paul Chambers; and drummer Jimmy Cobb (pianist Wynton Kelly is on one track, "Freddie Freeloader"). -Doug Pratt, Atlanta, Georgia, USA

The comment I thought I should reply to has disappeared. It may come back, but I'd like to thanks to the 2 people who replied before me. It's probably the reason for the departure.Thank you! On this channel, I want to deliver the original sound of vinyl records. With a natural sound--not over produced, without any embellishment.
I appreciate the comment regarding the original sound of the vinyl records. That warmth is helping me right now. I couldn't place it at first, beyond the music itself, why the calmness and centering warmth. But there it is because of you. Thanks again.
MC, your review is a very glorious expression of appreciation for some magnificent musical art. Well said, MC!!! ...and long live the motherland, the great and glorious Russia, the triumphant and victorious destroyer of ALL the Reichs of the past, and the present!!!!!
Elvin's energy (Elvin being Elvin) seems to have overwhelmed Stan a little in what may have been the first track or two. But further into the album, Stan rises to the occasion and plays quite powerfully to meet and utilize Elvin's energy. Maybe not the most intuitive matchup, but it produced a successful album imo.
I think the Dark Eyes “outtake” happened because the session overall was tense - more so for Bill than Stan, I think. The funniest part is when the engineer rewinds the tape near the end.
@@Thouveninpascal WOW. Such a smug dimwit. Recorded on two days in May of 1964, the drummer is ELVIN JONES, and the bassist is RON CARTER on one session and RICHARD DAVIS on the other.
Wonderful music. But I don't see why so much emphasis had to be put, in the introduction text, on supposed difficult relation and tense atmosphere? If people were really not friendly to each others, they would not play that. And saying to your mates "you forgot the arrangement" is simply a matter of fact remark. It does not shatter anything. Who has heard of a record going on without any little mishap?

Smooth, balanced euforia - jazz as its best,
This has such a natural sound--not over produced. I puts the listener right in the middle of the music. Thanks and bravo!
That whole screwing around with Black Eyes, reminds me of some of the goofing around the Beatles did. Great to get that on tape somewhere.
NICE SOUND NATURAl LY MY SOULE AND BODY MAKE SWING.I SING WITH BIG.SOW HAPPY.

Bill and Stan. Both gone. I would so love to have seen and heard them live. Absolutely superb
