NICE SOUND NATURAl LY MY SOULE AND BODY MAKE SWING.I SING WITH BIG.SOW HAPPY. THANKS LOTS OF LOVE.
Only Chalie Parker is better alto saxophonist than Art Pepper. He is a genius!
Elvin's energy (Elvin being Elvin) seems to have overwhelmed Stan a little in what may have been the first track or two. But further into the album, Stan rises to the occasion and plays quite powerfully to meet and utilize Elvin's energy. Maybe not the most intuitive matchup, but it produced a successful album imo.
That whole screwing around with Black Eyes, reminds me of some of the goofing around the Beatles did. Great to get that on tape somewhere.
Art Pepper - alto saxophone Russ Freeman - piano Ben Tucker - bass Chuck Flores - drums
Art Farmer is always beautiful, thanks so much for the upload
Haha, that last track!
love the vinyl sound !
Good stuff.
Smooth, balanced euforia - jazz as its best,
Getz was out of his depth, with Elvin Jones.
McCoy Tyner Plays Ellington was recorded in December 1964 and released on the Impulse! label in 1965. It features performances by Tyner with his John Coltrane bandmates: bassist Jimmy Garrison and drummer Elvin Jones. Percussionists Willie Rodriguez and Johnny Pacheco appear on four of the tracks.

Fantastic piano. Great drums. Terrific bass. What a tune!
The recording must have been good, since it was 65 years ago. The jacket featuring the two dancers reading Down Beat magazine is also excellent.
Very nice.I owned this record years ago.Nice to hear it again.

Una meravella dos grans del Jazz
1956. I am loving the piano breaks btw

Hey That was Lee Konitz on alto but who are drummer and bassist.?
sonny was so fine and somewhat underrated
pure magic
What's the song at 6:52, please?

OMGosh that's amazing. Thank you for sharing :-)
How nice it still is after all those years. Asif it was recorded yesterday.
Nice.
Another winner - thanks for posting.
Good stuff. Google says it is by Art Pepper though. Who's Jack Sheldon?
Jack Sheldon is a trumpet player and also was a good friend of Jack Webb (a big jazz fan) and appeared in several episodes of Dragnet. Sheldon might be more well known as the singer of such Schoolhouse Rocks songs like, "I'm Just a Bill" and "Conjunction Junction."
@@Torter23 Thank you very much for replying on my behalf. It's a so-called reunion session between comrades. Pepper has made a splendid comeback after several bouts of medical treatment, and Sheldon was a comedian at the time, Pepper welcomed him as a leader and Pepper was a sideman. His heart is burning! Thanks to him, Sheldon is the best ♪
tasty
La noche, la luna y Sarah Vaughan!
This music should create more decorum in this world... but one needs a heart to hear it first.
