The truth is just one: Petrucciani is one of the greatest piano players of jazz history.

absolutely. We miss Petrucciani! Forever in history and quite literally next to Chopin. One of the greatest.

@@mitchelgaddi place liszt higher than chopin tbh (but chopin is definitely high up). Tbh Jarret and Hersch too
Petruciani to me is #1 though of any musician ever imo nevermind jazz. He may not have same technical ability that peterson had but there is something about his arrangements and playing that transcends

His senses of rythmn and melody were truly unique.

When modern jazz is distilled down to its most concentrated form you'll reach the person that is the late Michel Petrucciani. Michel's being buried at Père Lachaise Cemetery, Paris next to the grave of Chopin is an amazing coincidence. There can never have been a more inspirational jazzer than Michel Petrucciani. His boldness, inventiveness and risk taking at the keyboard is so uplifting.

Michel Petrucciani was one of the very few musicians who went to NY and was immediately accepted by the jazz community. And quickly everyone wanted to play with him. That s how special he was.

Every now and again the universe gives us a special gift
It appears in many different forms of wonderment and awe and in ways that you can’t believe it’s true
People spoke to me about MP when I was the musical director of the cafe de Paris on Tenerife Canary Islands 1991
But I didn’t bother to find out about him as I thought he was just another freak cashing in on his disability and being commended for that alone
In those days there was not Internet like there is now you really need to sit down and listen to records shown by friends that’s how it used to work within then in 1996 I got an introduction to his music from the French guy who was a windsurfer on the coast of Tenerife Canary Islands he was also a piano player and said listen to this and I could not believe my ears ever since that moment I have been a fan and I eat my words how wrong I was not to investigate this brilliant talented piano player who are now play and do tributes to in jazz clubs here in Thailand
Michelle Petrucciani is truly a gift from the universe what a wonderful person and what a wonderful piano player thank you for sending this video I truly appreciate it

    Michel Petrucciani - piano
    Palle Danielsson - bass
    Eliot Zigmund - drums
... and Jim Hall - guitar, as featured Guest.

DIscovered Michel when wandering Pere Le Chaise in Paris. I intended visiting Chopin's grave, and Michel's was right next to it. Such a triumph over adversity. Was super to see him in such great company for the rest of eternity. You just know Fred Chopin and Michel are having a great time together now!

Michael was a courageous genius. Think about the amount work he had to do simply reach”those keys” and then to be so inventive.
He would walk or somehow get onto the Stage for each performance dressed beautifully. It’s almost difficult to watch because he was such a miracle and one’s heart was so full of admiration. Her was almost as fast as Oscar Peterson
during some of his runs. Believe he made the other guys work for the money. There is a creator who provides us all with opportunity,Michael took his and ran with it,bringing joy to millions. Let this Man exist within 3 ft. of a 9 ft. Steinway for eternity.Playing with the others who admired as
    did we. RIP MICHAEL

Palle is close to the piano as an instrument, I think you could say. His sister, Monica Dominque, is a pretty famous jazz pianist that has played with all the greats (from here or visiting our country), and he performed a lot with people like Keith Jarret in the 1970s.
