You mentioned hoping Mike doesn’t feel guilty after Chester’s suicide. For an incredible in depth look at how Mike felt, he has a fantastic solo album called Post Traumatic. The first six songs provide a very raw insight into his grieving process. If it’s not already on your list, it should be!
Fact the whole album is an roadmap how Mike dealt with the lost of his best friend
It’s an excellent album!
@@JariakaBroekie888 yeah
I heard so many people, when he died, saying they had no idea he was dealing with any of this and like... I don't know how. Listening to stuff like this, One More Light, even My December, etc... you don't get that fucking good at writing about heart-wrenching emptional pain, and sing it with so much genuine emotion without having some serious built up shit inside of you. He's always struck me as a very troubled artist, pouring his pain and anger and sadness into the music as an outlet... I guess eventually it just wasn't enough. :(
I don't know if you've ever seen how Chester talked about himself and his depression, but you should. Heavy has some parts in the video that he mentioned that haunted him everyday. All his life.
One of Chester final pleads. I feel as he went through the albums, his melodies became more simple, but his emotions pouring in larger amounts through his lyrics. Emotions a lot of us can connect to. A legend that will never be forgotten. Rest in peace Chester
This is a masterpiece album. I can’t pick just one track. You’ve got hear the whole thing.
I am a big fan of LP since the very beginning. My most favorite album is ‚a thousand suns‘ … it is a masterpiece, but i really love everything this band has created. How they evolved and changed and always came up with unique new music. Aways a fan… ❤❤❤
Same. I have the same
People do not like this album because of it’s deviation into more poppy sounds. I love heavier linkin park but I think it’s kind of short sighted to dismiss this side of them especially when it suits them so well. This album is great.
I have been a Linkin Park fan since Hybrid Theory and hated this album when it was initially released. Just couldn't get used to the new sound. After Chester passed away I listened to it more and more and started loving it. One More Light single is now my favourite LP song of all time.
I love this reaction! I discovered Linkin Park in 2020. I LOVE LINKIN PARK. “One More Light” is a good album. I can understand why people didn’t like it, but it’s good music. Change scares people but it’s the only constant in life, things WILL change. We avoid reality. I hear that you get it; thank you. Also, today’s favorite LP song is “When They Come for Me”.
This was Chester's last Linkin Park music video before he died. They were going to film the music video for One More Light after some more touring but because of his death they didn't feel it was right to make it without Chester. So they made the music video a tribute to Chester instead. The 2 hardest Linkin Park concerts for me to watch on UA-cam are Chester's last concert and the tribute concert for Chester at the Hollywood Boll.
In 2015 the band lost a friend to cancer that worked for the record label. Then in 2016 Chester's stepfather died and then Chris Cornell dieing in 2017. Then add in all the negative comments that so called fans left about the One More Light album just did not help at all.
I wish I could have met Chester. He is someone I really relate to because of some of the things I have been through in life.
You must do live show reactions of linkin park
They are on a different level when live!
Heavy has been one of my fav songs off Linkin Park's album One more Light and still is :)
Do you have any plans on checking out their album A thousand suns? A lot of my favorite Linkin Park songs are on that record. I think their One More Light album is pretty decent actually.
Great comment 👍.A Thousand Suns is amazing. ROBOT BOY, The Catalyst, Burning In The Skies, Waiting for the End. Love them all.
Chester attempted suicide in 2016 but his fans didn't know that till a couple years after his death because his wife decided not let that information be released. Chester was very open about his struggles with depression and past substance abuse so that it lets others know that they are not alone in the struggles of having mental health problems.
In 2016 Chester's oldest son Jamie turned 20 years old. Chester had 6 children (4 boys and 2 girls [twins]). Chester's second oldest son was adopted by Chester in 2003 when he found out that he had a 7 year old son with an ex-girlfriend. Chester adopted Jamie's younger brother because Chester found out that little boy's father wasn't in the picture so Chester decided to be the little boy's father even though he didn't have to. Chester loved his children so much but after over 30 years of mental health problems caused from childhood traumas he just couldn't fight it anymore. He was tired of all the metal pain he dealt with everyday.
Amazing song ❤️. ONE MORE LIGHT song is a MASTERPIECE on this incredible album. I watch the official video often. We had tickets to see Linkin Park in August 2017 again but he died in July. The world lost a wonderful man and an incredible talent ❤️
I really wish i could have gone to see Linkin Park LIVE when Chester was around and at the time I was just too focused on wanting to go see my top favorite band all these years, that i hadn't had the thought to go see LP and that is something ive been sad by since Chester died. I wanted to go see LP back in 2007 when they toured with HIM and my parents wouldn't allow me to go because they knew i didnt like being near bugs and they didnt know where i was gonna be able to watch :(
@@HeartagramGirl30 I know it's not the same but I watch Live concerts on utube to remind me of past Linkin Park concerts. Linkin Park live at Madison Square Garden is great 👍
@@sharonscurti8024 Good point and thanks i'll check it out :)
Have you done Halfway Right? If not, please do, because it's like this.
Oh and as for the question about "for people who like Hybrid Theory/Meteor, what do you think of this?"
I loved Hybrid Theory at the time, as an angsty teen but now that I'm later in life it almost feels like a prototype of what LP was going to become and feels... I dunno... top shallow and unfinished I guess, but I love Meteora. It's honestly still one of my favorite albums by any band ever. I still haven't sat and listened to all of the last album, as my tastes have shifted a lot and I guess I just don't expect a lot of it to land with me, but the two big singles (this and One More Light) are two of my favorite LP songs. I do love some of Chester's angrier stuff but I agree in that the more melodic, vulnerable, sad kind of stuff also hits closer to home with me and connects more deeply.
I love them so much and I love this album. I thought everyone was too harsh on it. I think they were a victim of their own high standards.
This is the only album of LP that I can't listen to it until now. All the songs that makes me cry especially after Chester died, even though the song was good.. 😭
4:17 this is my first time seeing you. I love this. The sound is so important.
Chester was the best to describe what it feels like in his head and in mine.
you should check out a live performance of this. It sounds even better than the studio version because you can hear the rock elements much better. Also chesters vocals sound more powerful live on this one.
I really love both Hybrid Theory and Meteora, and that's when I got into Linkin Park. When they switched the sound up for Minutes To Midnight, I was surprised, but still on board; especially because me parents coulf actually appreciate some of the music on MTM. When A Thousand Sun was coming out, and I heard the single The Catalyst, I absolutely HATED it. I dreaded the album, I was so upset. When I first listened to it, I didn't really know what to make of it, I found it very weird, and I was dissapointed in the direction of my favourite band.
Then I gave the record a couple of more listens, and A Thousand Suns became my favourite record. Not just favourite Linkin Park record, my favourite overall 😂❤
From that point on, I learned to trust LP. I knew I might not initially like something, and maybe I never would, but I knew that whatever they put out deserved a proper chance.
Their last record One More Light isn't my favourite. Here are soubds on it that I find a bit grating and distracting, and musically I find it too ... simple maybe? But for the genre, I think there are a lot of good songs on the album, and I think lyrically they did a good job. I think the lyrics feel personal in a different way, something I appreciate them trying out.
Even in OML isn't my favourite, I'm glad they were still on a path of trying, for them, new things; styles, approaches/methods, etc. I just deeply wish we had got to see where that took them next on their journey 💔
My favourite LP song is Waiting For The End, and I think you might like that one too. Iridescent as well.
And you NEED to hear The Messenger if you haven't; Chester wrote that one for his kids, and it's just an absolutely beautiful song that stays with you, both for the lyrics and for Chester's way of singing that particular song. I'd love to hear your thoughts on that one.
The thing about One More Light is that given the way they were always evolving their sound, it MADE SENSE for them to end up there, but the metalhead purists were always like "NO!! We just want them to keep doing stuff like Hybrid Theory and Meteora!" But for me, some of their best stuff came from when they went in a new and different direction, so when thisw final album came along I was one of the fans who thotouighly embraced and responded to it. Given How much you loved Leave Out Allo the Rest I'm really not surprised you enjoyed this track so much, indeed it's ALMOST the best track on the album. Ultimately it's eclipsed by the title track itself, which was for many of us THE PERFECT farewell for Chester ...
Chester and Linkin Park have got me through a lot of dark times for me. Chester will always have a special place in my heart. But to me this almost sounds like a suicide note for Chester.
My favorite song
Julia Michael's she's a writer and artist now too .
4:38 interesting! I’m the opposite. I’ve devoured lyrics since I was 4 years old. The first thing I hear in a song is the bass. It’s my nature. And second is lyrics.
Mike and Chester were like bros-check out Mike’s “Post Traumatic” album.
And u shud listen to LP’s “Minutes to Midnight” and “A Thousand Suns.” I think ull really appreciate them!
RIP Chester! 💔😥🎤🙏🏻
Woooooooow
🐐
rest in peace Ches.
Ey Anton you have to listen Times of Grace - The Burden of Belief, BR :)
One More Light is my least favourite Linkin Park album. This song was released as the first single off the album and I, like many others, hated it at the time because of how drastic of a departure it was from Linkin Park's other music, especially the album that came directly before. Now, I consider one of the few songs on the album that really hit hard, this is probably the best song on the album. Even though we were all familiar with Chester's struggles when this song released, it didn't really seem to connect with a lot of people until after what happened in Chester.
I don't dislike the album now, but it's still my least favourite. There aren't really any more than 2 or 3 songs on the album that really hit hard on that album. The instrumentation on the album isn't as interesting as their other albums and there's a lot of stuff missing from the album that is on every other Linkin Park album. Little rapping from Mike, no screaming from Chester, no turntables and some band members don't really feel like they're very present on the album. But that stuff doesn't make the album bad, a Linkin Park album doesn't need to have Chester screaming or Mike rapping in it to be good. There are things about this album that I appreciate that aren't on other albums but overall, this album doesn't hit as much as all their others imo
I love this song, but this version "Linkin Park - Heavy (ft. Kiiara) acoustic (Facebook Live session)" is better than any other version that is out there IMO
It's bc he was about to take his life
