Just a tip for those that have a Quest 2: The headset doesn't come with a microfiber cloth, but most sun- and normal glasses come with one. So check there!
Some of the more premium cellphone screen protectors also come with a cloth for cleaning the screen, which can be used as well. I've seen (pretty expensive) screen protector that comes with a piece of cloth the size of a napkin.
@@terriffingtea You might want to consider lens paper if you want things to be extra clean, but usually that doesn't make a big enough difference and those are one time use only.
Thanks for the tips about motion sickness. I used to love VR and nothing could make me feel sick and suddenly last year I get so motion sick that I can’t even play at all. I upgraded from PSVR to Oculus Quest 2 and have only been able to use it like 3 times.
If you're now experiencing motion sickness and you didn't used to you might want to look into getting your ears cleaned or seeing a doctor. It sounds like you have a mild case of vertigo which is very treatable!
For motion sickness, walk in place when you move with stick. It feels weird at first, but after doing it for years, it entirely eliminated motion sickness for me. For oculus quest users, use the stationary boundary. It gets rid of the lines but switches you to passthrough when you are near it. It shows up as a circle on the floor which is not as noticeable but for me, it works fine and doesn’t kill my immersion too much

Hey Thriller, I would actually highly recommend changing the router from the 1500, to either the 1800; which has an average of 500mbps more speed, or the newest 3000 series. Which I have yet to test although battery life should thank you with their new updated expected packet times preventing the headset from making call requests nearly as much since it's using wifi 6E.
When I was new to VR, I was surprised at how few games actually let you turn off stick turning, lol. C'mon, it's the future! The whole point is movement and not buttons I thought, haha.
@@whotookkitsims why would Pavlov shack have a demo? It's a free game... Beat Saber, Super Hot, Creed, Space Pirate Trainer, Dance Central, and others have demos. Usually their games do NOT get covered by the return policy, because you can demo them first.
Great video! Just wanted to correct one thing: it isn't "5 GHz WiFi vs. WiFi 6". WiFi 6 can still use the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequencies, just like the previous generation of WiFi. The previous generation was "802.11ac", and the newest is "802.11ax", but they were renamed to "WiFi 5" and "WiFi 6", respectively, to reduce confusion.
Hey TS, I just wanna say thanks. Your videos convinced my family to finally let me branch out into VR. I’m loving every second of it, and if it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t be having so much fun. thanks!

Thanks, these were actually helpful tips! I actually have been using a fan for a while, so I'm glad you included it. I think the one that will make the most difference for me will be using a mat/rug!
Body Movement like your "Challenge" is actually how I avoid motion sickness. I use an office chair with a pedestal base instead of wheels, and turn in the chair.
6:50 This is a common misconception. There is no latency difference between wifi 5 and 6 for virtual desktop on the quest 2. Latency would be less if the q2 supported wifi 6e, but it doesn't. There is only a slight bandwidth increase which might let you stream at a higher quality with other devices are on the same wlan. I have a dedicated wifi 5 network for my quest 2 so I can run at max quality and not need the extra bandwidth. The most important thing is the quality of the ap.
If your near sighted, lose the glasses already. VR almost seems made for near sighted people. Guess why, the images being fed ARE almost right next to your eyes. This natural feature of VR should seriously work in the favor of near sighted people. Hello? Common sense?
@@werr3222werrr bummer... But I did finally notice my vision is just a little fuzzy too. Just not as pronounced as in reality. Actually been looking at corrective lens. Averaging $15 to $20. That's not a bad investment to safeguard the original lens in your VR gear seeing it's gonna cost yeah serious cash to replace the originals.
@@jamesloll4601 I know I'm 6 months late to this but: The lenses in VR headsets distort the light coming in from the screen to a point where you're essentially looking at a screen placed 2 meters away from your eyes. So if your vision is fine within 2 meters, great! lose the glasses. But if you are like me and have blurry vision past just a few cm, you're going to need corrective lenses. (I wear contacts though, so it's a non-issue for me)

Yeah, I just do that, smooth/snap turn is just very annoying and unreliable in my experience, since I just know how much I gotta turn to shoot something, the thumb stick is just extra steps that slow me down
I got the free silicone case for the quest 2. It made it so much better having one because I had like hair stuck on the foam piece. I’m so happy I have the silicone case now
“I have a challenge for you. Hop into your favorite VR game, and don’t touch your right thumbstick” *Me who has barely any games, which makes my favorite games The Climb and Fail Factory:*
I feel like the rug in the middle thing would really mess with me on the Quest 2. But I also utilize more of a roomscale, so I feel like i'd just end up tripping over it.
9:00 actually, the Oculus Quest 2 store does offer demos on games such as Superhot, Beatsaber, and Space Pirate Trainer. Just thought I would comment to let people know!
I got one more hack for you: sit in an office chair while playing in VR. The rotation of the chair replaces the right thumb stick completely…. Besides that, your legs won’t get tired, reduces motion sickness since you’re moving along with what you’re seeing, and finally, you dont need to have your guardian on since you’re seated.
him talking about better field of view by being closer to the lenses meanwhile, me wearing glasses and using the little plastic thing to be even further away so i can see shit through my glasses in VR :)
Ha ha ha ha... Actually near sighted actually works to your advantage. Take your glasses off and try it again! The natural focus point of your VR gear is SET to near sight! The fact you can focus your vision to near to incredible detail works in your advantage! My mom used to have me, being extremely near sighted, read the print on jewelry. Was never a problem until my next eye exam. Corrective lens do eventually handicap your near sightedness. Even so, my view is flawless in VR. Images in VR are actually sharper than in reality for me. I find it sweet that I CAN look at a distant object and it NOT be fuzzy. Anyways, your taking serious chances with your VR lens... your glasses rub against them plastic lens? Guess what's scratching? Take a chance! Try your gear without your glasses! You might be surprised by the results! Your view may even sharpen even more! Sorry but it is a simple fact, the image being fed to your eyes is extremely close so actually being near sighted? Hello? Common sense! Give it a shot, turn around and be surprised then give me a holler for being RIGHT! :)
@@jamesloll4601 my dude! This is why it's easier to not use my glasses. I was wondering that. I was confused how i could see clearly yet the lenses are meant to simulate distance? It helps to know I'm not making my eyesight worse by doing so.
I like your challenge idea, except my first vr headset was actually the quest 2, so I find I already intuitively just turn my body. Using the joystick to turn makes my legs wobbly lmao
FR, I was playing Boneworks and it just felt so much better to corner while shouldering a gun without using snap turn. Snap turn a lot of the time throws me off balance
From a person going from PSVR to Oculus I’m thankful for not being able to use my turning stick anymore 😂 one major downside besides tracking (which is the connection) is not being able to turn around all the way in PSVR. When I first hopped on the Oculus it did feel weird at first getting used to turning my whole body, but after I got used to it, BEAUTY! Love it so much!
One thing to increase the "don't turn camera" challenge is to add "Run in place while pushing the movement thumbstick". Basically turns every game into a workout and increases immersion.
The thing about Wifi6 and Wifi 5Ghz: right now Wifi6 doesn't offer any actual impovement in VR Desktop over 5Ghz. So If you have 5Ghz already I won't improve anything to buy Wifi6 router. Although may be in a future the increased bandwidth will be utilized, so if you don't have 5Ghz yet it's better to get Wifi6 right away. Another tip for reducing motion sickness especially with free stick movement: chew some gum when you play. I'm not sure how that works exactly, but it does.
Nice video, man! As someone who uses a Valve Index, I'm always concerned about the cable twisting when I'm turning around with my body. Can the pulley system solve this issue or would I have to be mindful of my twists and perhaps use a program like Turn Signal to gauge my turning? Otherwise, I really like your content. Keep it up!

I have too. It just feels so much better than using the stick because it allows you to be so much more immersed
And it makes you feel more like a badass than just doing an artificial turn.
Snap turning gives me massive motion sickness so I don't use I either.
When I was new to VR, I was surprised at how few games actually let you turn off stick turning, lol. C'mon, it's the future! The whole point is movement and not buttons I thought, haha.

@@whotookkitsims there are a lot, for example sports scramble and superhot

Beat Saber, Super Hot, Creed, Space Pirate Trainer, Dance Central, and others have demos. Usually their games do NOT get covered by the return policy, because you can demo them first.
I found Beat Saber demo and about 3 others.... but most don't have a demo in the oculus store unfortunately.

I only use body movement anyway it is way more fun and it took me a while to even learn that there was a snap turn in games.
Hey TS, I just wanna say thanks. Your videos convinced my family to finally let me branch out into VR. I’m loving every second of it, and if it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t be having so much fun. thanks!

“Bru find your eyes closer and increasing your field of view”
Me with glasses: thanks?
If your near sighted, lose the glasses already. VR almost seems made for near sighted people. Guess why, the images being fed ARE almost right next to your eyes. This natural feature of VR should seriously work in the favor of near sighted people. Hello? Common sense?
@@jamesloll4601 you would think but no when I don’t wear glasses in vr I’m as blind as I am when not in vr
But you can get lenses for your headset that have the same prescription as your glasses but are expensive

Yup, I was surprised someone actually uses the right thumbstick. I get it if you're seated, but standing?
Yeah, I just do that, smooth/snap turn is just very annoying and unreliable in my experience, since I just know how much I gotta turn to shoot something, the thumb stick is just extra steps that slow me down
I got the free silicone case for the quest 2. It made it so much better having one because I had like hair stuck on the foam piece. I’m so happy I have the silicone case now

I've never used it but when i see other people use it in videos and stuff it looks very jarring and disorientating
I have to use snap turning for Pavlov since my cable isn’t that long. (8 ft.) I’m completely find it okay.
0:49 nah mine has lazers that burn the images directly into my retina
I feel like the rug in the middle thing would really mess with me on the Quest 2. But I also utilize more of a roomscale, so I feel like i'd just end up tripping over it.
9:00 actually, the Oculus Quest 2 store does offer demos on games such as Superhot, Beatsaber, and Space Pirate Trainer. Just thought I would comment to let people know!
I got one more hack for you: sit in an office chair while playing in VR. The rotation of the chair replaces the right thumb stick completely…. Besides that, your legs won’t get tired, reduces motion sickness since you’re moving along with what you’re seeing, and finally, you dont need to have your guardian on since you’re seated.
for the rug trick I recommend looking up a fatigue mat I use one made by Craftsman it's just so much better to stand on for long periods of time
him talking about better field of view by being closer to the lenses
meanwhile, me wearing glasses and using the little plastic thing to be even further away so i can see shit through my glasses in VR :)

Ayyyyyyyyyy, hello Thrill!
Thrill: no right thumb stick.
My right thumb stick: You guys are getting used?
