I think this film speaks to a lot of people that AREN'T the Kinda Funny crew. This movie is about what happens to most people. Not everyone busts their ass to make their dreams come true. Some people never find that dream. The world is chalk full of Randals and Dantes. This is the future some people have, especially in small towns. Randal and Dante are two townies, and this is the reality for that group of people who DON'T accomplish great things. Who work behind a clerk counter for 60 years until they die. And yeah, it's not grandiose or inspiring, but it's not unrealistic either. In the jail scene, Randal lays it out: He's happy being a townie loser. He finds fulfillment in his minor existence, and that's the crux of this movie. You don't have to be someone who accomplished some big amazing dream. Look at one other people they meet: Picklefucker is this millionaire who clearly only came to Moobys to mess with Randal and Dante. But it shows that despite all his wealth, he's never gotten over or found closure in regards to his past. At the end, Randal and Dante have "leveled up" by now owning the businesses they ran for most their lives. Dante has a person who gets him, a child on the way, and Randal gets to watch movies and mess with assholes every day. Some people dont wanna shoot for the moon, some just wanna get a few feet off the ground.

I never understand the hate for this film. I mean it's not as good as dogma and maybe chasing Amy, I think it has some of my favorite V.A scenes or moments and the fact that a scene in this movie basically happened to me in real life which always makes me laugh, like out for the hour and a half there is a solid 45 minutes of stuff I love. I know it went from being a little over the top reality to crazy over the top but I still have a lot of fun if you just think of it as a dumb comedy. Like BASEketball
I've always felt that the whole point was the "power of friendship" and how the only time they are ever happy was when they are working together but that they hate working for people. When they worked at the Quick Stop they were always left to their own devices but when they have to work for a place with oversight they realize how much they hate it and when the opportunity arises they buy the Quick Stop and their going to run it there way.
Nick sounds like a pompous elitist, saying a 30 year old flipping burgers is a loser. Where I grew up any job that supports ur fam and had a steady paycheck was considered a good job. My bad nick, we all can't be an unknown stand up with a 5 head, that can only get mic time by forcing 10 of his friends to buy tickets to the club.

Clerks 2 *should* have been about the realization of being stuck in arrested development, overcoming it, and growing up. Instead, it presents itself as being about that, but none of the characters grow or change. Dante and Randall are exactly the same people at the end of Clerks 2 as they are at the beginning of Clerks 1, ultimately leaving the viewer with the thought that it's ok never grow, and to be the same shitty 20-something when you're damn near 40.
That isn’t in the View Askewniverse. They are only doing the mainline movies, so we won’t see them review the True North movies either (even though they are kind of in the View Askewniverse)
