Jussie, you okes must be proud of what you have done. Only passion and hard work can make what you have shown here. Baie lekker!
Thanks so much! 😊
Very very practical storage arrangement
She’s a beauty. When I think back at all the times you were “stick a fork in me. I’m done”-tired. You were determined, but waning as the project slogged on. Your pride in this boat shows on your faces as if there is any doubt or question that you’d feel this way upon setting sail on your hard earned water home. Here’s to you, Ricky and Simone!!
Thanks so much Lydia! ☺
Stunned and amazed. My wife (Fee) has been watching you for two years and recommended to that I view your progress. I started five days ago and now completely up to date. Keep it up and we really appreciate the sacrifices you two have made. You two rock !!!!!
Thanks hey ! Tell Fee we say hello Ricky and Simone 😉
I cant help with the fruit ,but the toast is cooked.
Yous have done a fantastic job on the whole boat.
So many people start a project like you have done but never finish.. Well done, thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much 😊
Wow - What a comprehensive presentation! You have done an outstanding job with this project and have raised the bar. There must be a lot of impressed and envious boaters out there.
Thanks so much David! 😊
SV Lady Africa has fulfilled the original name of the vessel. It is truly Dorado. Impressed. ☺️
Thanks Jeremy!
nice boat , I used to have a 37' Prout , very similar but your is a lot more organized
Your boat is like a luxury flat - you three did a great job.
Thank you 😁
Your batteries are so cool!! 😎 and omg, lots of space and hatches!! Looove it! Keep it up guys!!
Thanks guys. Right back at you. Keep it up! 😁🥰
i lived on my 40 foot boat for years and i really miss that life ,, it really warms my heart when i see young couples doing this , the only way to live is outside the box , a wise man once said if you are the same at 50 years old as you were when you were 20 years old , you wasted 30 years ,, stay safe and have a blast !!!!! btw , i flat out love your ship !! hang fruit in a cool dark dry place
Heya ! Haha thanks for the awesome message! Stay tuned for the adventure ahead ! . Where are you based ?
Can you explain me how you can pay for that life am 17 and I would love to life on a catmarang would be fantastic
You've done a fantastic job and I hope you both are proud of what you've accomplished.
You both are a inspiration for this old man when I see how the younger generation is these days and then I see young folks like yourselves ,it gives me hope for this world of ours . God bless ,stay safe and happy sailing.
Ok I'm going to say this has to be one of my favorite video of all time on UA-cam. I'm speechless. A true work of engineering and art. You have built something amazing. You should know that. Features and great ideas just keep popping up. Enjoyed every minute of this tour.
Thank you 😁
@@livingwiththemaias I corrected a typo and lost my hearted icon from you guys... Oh well, I know I had it so that's all that matters. Much love!
Congratulations guys. All the best for your journey to warmer weather.
Thank you 😁
Everything you two do is "WORTH IT" no questions about it!
Ah thanks Jeff !
Wow amazing seeing this after watching what it looked like when you bought it. Nobody deserves it more than you two with all the work you’ve put into your boat!
Thank you so much! 😊
Sailing Lady Africa you’re very welcome and I hope to run into you guys sailing one day. Take care
Beautiful work on the interior Ricky and Simone. I remember what it looked like when you started. You did a fantastic job making Lady Africa a beauty again and should be very proud of your work. Take care, stay safe and stay well.
Thank You , Stay safe !
You must be SO proud - well done on a beautiful boat . May she take you across many oceans and bring you lots of fun and happiness. Enjoy and good luck ! !
Thanks so much Roderick ☺
Hi from the U K You have made a fantastic job of Lady Africa. When you first brought home that old dean cat I did not think it would turn out well Congrats and happy safe sailing.
Thanks.
A Beautiful Cat and a Beautiful Lady Ricky you are a very lucky Bloke!
Haha thanks 😊
I laughed so hard when you pushed her to the wall in the cabin. That is exactly what we deal with on ours.
Ricky you're a master craftsman. What an excellent job! Fantastic! Learned so much from your building video's! Thank you!
Thanks so much.
Are you thinking aboutvwdding a clothes dryer in later? What other future upgrades are you thinking of? For fruit and vegetable storage, make sure you separate certain vegtibles. Some of the veggies emit ethylene gas which causes certain fruits to rot quicker than normal. I'd just hang them over an easy to clean area, maybe put a stainless steel tray under them.
No. Well just hang up our clothes outside. There isn't enough space for a dryer as well. Thanks for the tips.
Really nice work on the rebuld. Excellent craftmanship.
Thank you George!
You've done an amazing job on your boat. It's great to see that you love fishing and hunting, it should make for some exciting videos. Stay safe and enjoy life, after all the hard work you two have done.
Thanks John! Stay safe!
Chutney in the fridge! Oh how I miss SA!
You both worked hard on that boat and it shows...It’s a beautiful vessel inside and out....
Thanks Tommy! 😊
Nice design.
All your hours of hard work have paid off . A truly lovely, practical , light and airy interior . Once lockdown is over you will be able to enjoy the fruits of your labour . Take care and stay safe . xx
Thank you! ☺
Funny...watch our galley tour video (one of our earliest videos!) , and Patrick talks about 3 burners being too many ...should have gotten 2. But I like 3 too! Nice tour...enjoyed it! -Rebecca
Two is a little small , but it gets the job done. Never let hit change it hahah
Looks better than new
Thank you 😁
Well done guys! I have followed since the start and I can only say well done! I hope one day I can join you on the water with my own boat! Can't wait to see you get out and make the first ocean crossing!
Thanks Fritz! Never give up ☺
Your cat is stunning! Such a great layout and clever design features....I didn't realise it was the same boat you've been working on because it looks massive now! Really love it, you have done yourselves proud. The finish is so professional. Well done! X
Thank you so much ☺
Looks like you guys have done some awesome work on your boat. I love that you have a washer on board. Thanks for a great tour!
Thank you 😁
Really nice boat well done a lot of hard work went into that👍🏻👏👏👏🏴⛵

I've been watching since the very beginning, it's so great to see you guys finished and ready to head out on your adventure.
Thank you 😁

As I expected, your interior was awesome! In these times of bad news everywhere I get to watch something positive and FUN. I'm really looking for to your future passages. Stay safe!!
Thank You! , Stay safe and see you next week.
You should be really proud of your boat, it’s amazing, and you’ve done it all yourself. Thanks for this great video. 👍
Thank you , We sure are !
Oh my goodness. I’ve just found you guys. I am so thankful you popped up on my recommendation list. I have about a 5 to 7 year plan to get a boat and yours is almost exactly what I would be looking for. You have a fantastic setup. I will now need to binge to catch up. I am so excited now, I can even explain. Love you guys. Ian London Ontario
Thanks so much Ian! Don't forget the popcorn you're in for a long journey 😂 Hope you enjoy!
@@livingwiththemaias I am actually eating a lunch of back and eggs and moving onto episode 4. Enjoying it a lot. 👍👍
Hey guys, give us a shout if and when you hit the UK. we can put you up and show you around a bit. Also the SA shops. make my own biltong and have a good braai. Keep travelling.
Thanks Neil! 😊
Very cool guys. You've built a beautiful boat . I bet all that work seems worth it now :)
Thank you 😁
Boat came out amazing! You both should be very proud!
Thanks so much Eric!
Nice job, you two. Thanks for the tour. Well done.
Our pleasure!
Beautiful boat, a job well done guys. You two have put sooo much thought and effort into making SLA such an amazing boat.
Thank You !
Really loved this sailboat tour! Very thorough....you guys have a lot of good stuff! So comfortable...so big! Enjoy your beautiful home!!! -Rebecca
Thanks so much!
Nice cat. Thank you for sharing. I live here in St Petersburg, Florida . Stay safe.
Thanks Paul.
Beautiful boat!
Great video guys!
Thanks so much 😊 Hope you guys are keeping safe 🤗
You did a really nice job!
Thank you.
Great walk-through video guys, thanks.
Thanks Mark!
Great video which I seemed to have missed along the way 🌝 You guys have done an awesome job on the boat it looks amazing and I guess it took you hours of planning. The layout is excellent, loads of storage space and everything seems to be so easily accessible. I guess after your crossing and working the boat you will find a few things which you feel should have been done differently. But thats for Ricky to keep in mind for the next boat!! 🌝
Excellent video and I love your boat design. It's a design that would suit my style and needs.
Thanks Dave ☺
I am in love with this boat! This is the one I want when I begin sailing!!
Hi Ricky I shave watched your videos from day one really fantastic and well put together a real man of many talents , right up there with La Vagabond and Sailing Zatara , going to be interesting how you guys progress on your trip to the Bahamas. Best of luck and fair winds .
Thanks so much!
I remember each and every episode following your progress...so delighted with the outcome for you both! Hard work pays off...keep the new videos coming it helps with the covid19 prison state we are in here in Michigan! Cheers
Thanks so much Lisa! 😊
After watching Zatara this channel popped up on my recommended list. Glad it did. Very interesting. This is my 1st time watching you two on your boat. I subscribed and liked...and watched all the short ads all the way through. Happy Trails
Welcome 👋 & thank you! ☺
You guys have done such an amazing job! Beautiful yacht.
Thanks David
Beautifull, nice work
Galley down is the best floor plan layout for any catamaran.
Love that boat , Especially the hull shape .
Thanks
A small suggestion if I may...back in the day, when I was young and dinosaurs still roamed the earth,I put our trash in boxes which I Gift wrapped and left on the dock overnight, tick tock, tick tock...The next morning (like magic) the packages were gone and we had dispensed a bit of justice lol...
That is genious but wee bit of mean. LOL
hahaha
Unfortunately that most likely becomes the least Earth friendly way of getting rid of your trash.
You two did a great job! Dang! SO jealous!
Thanks!
well done you two! this must be such a great relief to look back and see the end result! see you in bahamas!
Fingers crossed!
Three! don't forget Moses.
@@joeswinny7686 very true! but someone had to have the vision, the guts and strength to push things through during tough times ;-) elon musk cannot build and launch rockets alone, but he is sure the driver and the main sponsor who needs to energize other even though he does not feel like energy himself and that's why people talk about elon musk and not his 10,000 employees or managers :-) i give the visionaries credit where credit is due ;-)
@@SailingSisu Every ship has it's captain but he can't sail it alone. My comment was - don't forget the crew.
@@joeswinny7686 100% with you
Hi guys, You have done an amazing job. I have a question for you. You have chosen a 220V freezer. It's cheaper but the consumption? Would you make the same choice again? How many watts produce your solar panels? thanks
Congratulations! You guys did a great job refitting that boat to suit your desires. I do have to admit I'm a bit surprised that you kept all four bunks instead of converting one of them into a workshop type area for Ricky to do project/repairs during your voyage.
Thanks Jeff , the mission for the yacht was to have family and friends visit and enjoy her with us . That's what led to the 4 cabin setup . Also better for resale in the smaller catamaran market.
Hi Guys,
I watched your last two years video's in 3 day's awesome job in transforming the Sailing Lady Africa. Looking forward to your journey......
Sail to end of the World.....
Hope you enjoyed it ! 😉
Awesome work !
Thanks William 😊
I'm not an expert but I saw another boat's video where they would slice up their fruit, place the slices on a flat pan, and put it outside on the deck in the sun for a couple of hours. The slices would dehydrate which would allow you to have fruit last for a lot longer. It might work better in the tropics .
Again, just fantastic. A question, did you check if your alternators are large enough for your batteries? I understand they should put out a minimum 10% of the amp hours of your batteries. Else you'll short change yourself on a charge.
Your boat looks amazing, from what you had to what you have now.
Thank You
Nice job on the boat.
Thanks Curt!
A to Z ....! Great.....!
Thanks😉
Lovely boat!
Thanks! 😊
Hi guy. try and keep some Citric Acid Crystals onboard as its very handy to use. it will take away any limescale that forms like in your water lines. / toilet / kettle / shower head / and it will flush your water intake it will dissolve any limescale it comes into contact with. i always keep at least 2 kgs on my boat and i don`t have any problems plus it Bio Degradable too so you can flush it overboard knowing its safe for the Environment
Thanks Erick
I've just taken the time to review your 2nd and 3rd videos when you first bought S/V Sailing Lady Africa. That's quite an turn around. While I might have made a couple of different choices (I'm a sucker for finished wood ;) ) what you have done is just stunning. What a beautiful boat you have for yourselves. I've not seen better come off of a new construction factory floor.
Thanks for the kind words !
You guys have come a long way well done ! That Sunnies stash is looking a little lean ...😉stay safe !
Thanks Cliffy. It's mine and Ricky's sunnies combined. 😎
Sailing Lady Africa when this madness is over I will put you in touch with the local Bondiblu sunnies two to stock up for your trip ! Please send me a reminder if you have not heard from me before you leave ! I have loads of the ones you like 😉
What a snappy interior!! a brave conquest and fabolous achievement well worth the effort I am sure ..... speaking from owning a similar vintage cat
Thanks so much 😊
Geniet elke video van julle!! Awesome boot Awesome couple!!
Baie dankie 😊
awesome stuff fellow South Africans...a proud one indeed :))
Thanks Ryan ☺
This may not affect you just yet but the Shengen visa issue is on Sailing Sisu. Watch it, could enlighten information in the future. Stay safe.
We have EU passports , thanks
I have never seen this watertank inspection openings what brand they are? Good job, inspiration for my own little catamaran refit
Thanks , No brand on them but i know vetus has new style very strong tank inspection covers.
Simone, if you cant buy a little hammock for you fruit, then make a macrame one or get someone in CT to make you one- it will be really easy !
Thanks Adele. I might just do that if I don't come right.
how much does it cost boat like that ? would you recommend this cat for first time sailor I guess you were thinking of two cats famous prout snowgoose vs dean 365 why you picked this one
That’s amazing go use so little, propane for hot water, cooking and whatever you said that either things was. We go about 6 months, but we don’t heat out hot water with propane! I always thought you had to have very high pressure water for the propane to successfully fire up...did you have to put in a special high pressure pump to make it work? Amazing your boat runs off of 320Ah...I guess with a lot of solar it’s workable. -Rebecca
No. Our heater has a flow meter not a pressure sensor with minimal flow.. the burner ignites. We found this one after quite a bit of research 😂
Sailing Lady Africa very cool. We just did an off grid solution. One day there will be a video on it...all off the sun and wind, and of course our South African LifePO4 batteries...another video to be ;) -Rebecca
Yacht is looking awesome. Not sure if you follow sailing Nandji. Thier new Sail is almost the same colour. Hope you can get going once our lockdown ends.
Thanks Paul! We saw it. 😊
Parabéns linda rainha pelas informação este lindo barco e um luxuoso que Deus abençoe todos vocês e este lindo barco
Give me a shout if you need to get around Cape Town to get your spares. Know most of the spots and have a stationwagon. Some of the hardwares open at least now.
Thanks Lukas ☺

Do you have SHUNT hooked to the Victron color controller?
Recently came across your channel and watched every video from the beginning. Well done!
But I haven't seen you install a Shunt into the battery bank (lithium). Does the batteries provide the current info to the Victron?
Cheers
seems like maybe there isn't enough room from the deck and the water. wonder if you get much wave slapping against the deck?
@Sailing Lady Africa I watched every one of your episodes and I don't remember if you mentioned this or not.
Did you have a boat architect draw up your design build or did you do it yourself?
How did you decide what and where everything should go so the boat is balanced?
Your boat looks really awesome. I can see how proud of her that now you are just about done with the build.
Congratulations on a very fine job.
Salt and Tar have been building their wooden boat for the past 5 years and is almost done with their build (well as the videos are released).
I come from construction background and it mazes me what people can build. Even if they are not professionals.
You guys showed a lot of patience and probably a lot of blood, sweat and tears.
Fairwinds to you both and happy sailing!!! Cheers.
Heya , Nope We drew the design ourselves and did mass calculations for all the components and items placement.
Hope you enjoyed that journey!
Looking forward to seeing the water maker install. Your work has been excellent. When you can get the parts.
Hope to get in done in the next two weeks if the stores that we need open. Thanks
Super ricky nice video vive la vida loca
Thanks 😊
yes . so nice , what is the brand and model , and how much the price , thanks
Awesomeness
So much work done hey ! What size is your smeg oven ? Current draw ?
Ah the oven is gas as well
its probably about a 400mm-450mm
Great video and a very good Catamaran ,take gar off you !.
Thanks 👍
Hey guys, following your channel since half a year. Also thinking about buying a catamaran like the Dean Oceanliner. What I didn't found out is the head clearence within the saloon. Can you please provide me with these kind of mesuements or a technical drawing??? Its essential for us, because we want to liveaboard on a catamaran after living 5 years on a houseboat in the middle of Berlin. Blue Skies Gregor
You did an amazing job! It is well worth the effort, deprivations, emotions and investment!
Thanks Jason.
