Thanks Kerry. We'll stop by there someday. It's just at the bottom of the hill after passing the trail to Buffalo Arch. I'm going to get around to researching who the settlers in the area were... I can imagine horses, maybe a wagon or two, tied up to trees, a fiddler, maybe a banjo or a guitar player, people dancing in the old roadbed, probably a jug or two of "refreshments" being passed around and that mountain music floating through the trees. I wish I could go back and be there myself!

Great video my friend. Nice to see you out with the family. That was a cool looking arch in spite of the graffiti and Fiddlers Rock was very interesting. I liked the Sunflower field too. Take care buddy!

I was getting ready for a solo day out looking for a couple of off-trail arches but Kento wanted to go and Bree decided she would go also so I scrapped those plans and just went for a drive and kind of ad-libbed the day. Wound up being a pretty special day. The sunflower field was nice and totally unexpected. Thanks My Friend! Be Safe!

Thanks! The Hemlock Grove Picnic Area is just across Rock Creek from where you guys were on your Gobblers Arch and beyond video. You were that close!... Fiddlers Rock is one of those spots I've stopped by many times over the years. If you sit there for a while you can feel the aura of the place, just as you can with most old homesites. Pretty special site!

Wonderful! You are something else! Sooo jealous! I gotta get back up that way asap. I had a couple back teeth cut out today. I was to go hiking on Tuesday when this toothache started. I'm at least out of pain and can look forward to going next week. Thanks for your sharing these special places.

I’m so sorry about the dental work! That’s a tough one!
Either the 3rd or 4th Saturday in October I’m going on this same drive to see all the fall colors. There are several overlooks near the road and a few arches to visit. Rock Creek and Jewell Kidds Grocery are on the agenda too. I’m inviting anyone who wants to come along on this 80 mile backcountry drive to meet up and drive it too. If you’re interested please let me know. Hopefully they’ll be several cars in the line that day. It will be a beautiful drive! Thank you so much! You go to some amazing places too!

You would be most welcome. We have a great group of hikers, both male and female. In the winter we hike mostly off trail to a lot of little seen, very remote arches, waterfalls and search out the remains of old homesites. You’d love it!

@@Cumberlandgal1964 I believe you would be happy with our group. We’re not an official hiking group but some good people who love the outdoors. We’re an older group, ranging between 50 and 70 years old, no drugs or alcohol on our hikes either. We stay away from talking politics or religion. Our ladies are the strongest hikers. One of them is the finest outdoor photographers in the area.
Let me know when you’re coming to Big South Fork and I’ll get a hike together. If you watch some more of my videos you can get a good idea of what our hikes are like and some of the incredible features in the surrounding area.
If you feel comfortable about it you can find me on Facebook. My name is Randy Neal and I live in Oneida, Tennessee.
We’d be happy to have you join us.
Take care, hope to hear from you soon!

Some nice views and rock formations and sunflower fields looked super cool brother! A very cool looking National Forest brother! Where do you get your hats from? I like the look of them, may have to get one for myself!

Thank you BeckHykes. Always good to read your comments. Daniel Boone National Forest is very cool. It runs from the Tennessee state line all the way to the Ohio River. HaHa... the hats... I have had the old felt hat for 30 years and only wear it in the winter because it's hot. One of the other straw type hats came out of a huge box of hats at a thrift type store for 10 bucks. The darker one came from Amazon for around 15 bucks. Amazon has a big selection of all types. Funny thing is after I started making videos wearing them I was walking out the door in a baseball cap and my wife asked me why I was wearing it. She said the hats are your trademark and I should change into one. So I did and from now on I guess I'll be wearing them. They actually shade your whole face and neck, plus those pesky bugs that circle around your head are mostly out of sight and can't dive bomb your eyes. I'd recommend getting one. You'll look cool too... lol...
