18:15 I dont understand this at all....Jeremy fouls the break, and Damianos gives the table back to him. So then Jeremy goes and acts like its a push, hits the wrong ball with no penalty, and Damianos has to shoot from there to make a legal shot? Makes no sense to me....did they just not realize that the break was fouled? Can someone explain the rules or maybe a link to where theyre listed?
Peter Senna yes that is correct, this is according to epbf rules of the eurotour, see below If an athlete fails to fulfil the additional demands, but is otherwise performing a legal break, the break is considered non-satisfactory and the following rules are to be followed: 1. If the 9-ball has been pocketed it shall be re-spotted before play is continued. 2. The opponent may choose either to accept the table as it is, or hand it back to the athlete that performed the break. 3. In case the opponent accepts the table as it is, he/she will not be allowed to perform a pushout. 4. If the table is handed back to the athlete that performed the break, he/she is allowed to perform a push-out. If a push-out is being played the opponent has the option to accept the table as it is, or again hand the table back
@@GBC_Rat Thanks for that, Snoop! Now it makes sense what happened. I found these rules on the WPA site, which I think the Euro Tour use - basically what you wrote, but more complete: (1) On the break shot, a minimum of three object balls must either be pocketed, or touch the head string line, or a combination of both. For example, if one object ball is pocketed, then at least two object balls must touch the head string line; or if two object balls are pocketed, then at least one object ball must touch the head string line. To touch the head string line means that the edge of the object ball must reach (break) the string line. (2) If a player fails to meet the requirements in (1), but otherwise makes a legal break, the incoming player has the choice to accept the tables as is, or hand the shot back to his opponent. (3) In accepting the table as is, the incoming player is not permitted to play a “push-out”, he must play a legal shot to the ball on. (4) If the table is handed back to the breaker, the breaker is permitted to play a push-out. If so, his opponent will then have the choice to either play the shot, or hand it back. (5) If a player fails to meet the requirements of (1), but otherwise makes a legal break and pockets the 9 ball, the 9 ball is reposted before the next shot is played.
It sounds like they dont require the base of the ball to go in the kitchen, like they do in the USA - sounds like only the forward edge of the ball has to break the head string - is that correct?
Hey Earl, You mentioned that you can't call all the shots - True. But at least you give us an idea of what the players thought process may be, more often than not by far !

Question for Mr. Strickland.... Will there be any pairing of players that you will avoid commentating on their match due to slow play? This question has nothing to do with this match. This match was plagued by the players not being able to get in line. And that happens more than the average player would believe. Mr. Jones is a world class player. I really enjoy watching him play and Mr. Strickland telling a few stories about their matches.
Hmm I believe while commentating he might not be as bothered because he has more time to give insight and detail. Me in particular as a watcher wouldn't even mind a Ralf Souquet vs Ralf Souquet (jk, maybe Alex Pagulayan?) with the Pearl commentating. It's actually funny to see Earl calling out the slow plays
43:25 I think Damianos has to jump over the eight and three if he wants to pocket the two. Earl thinks he must only jump over the eight to pocket the two straight in without banking it in. The camera angle did not allow us to see where the cue landed after he jumped. If I had to bet I guess I would agree with Earl but I wouldn't bet much. 1:27:00 Damianos attempted to carom the nine in. Earl mentioned he should have used more right spin to make it. I think that's correct. Also if he had hit the three fatter and "maybe" a bit more slowly speed-wise, I believe that would have done the trick also. Jeremy Jones has always been a top professional player and his commentating on matches is top-notch, but even if I live to be 100 will never get used to his curled wrist as he strokes his shots. If there is another professional player who does this to that extent I have not seen them yet. This the third match I've seen with Earl commentating. Can't get enough. Cheers
Love the commentary perhaps at times instead of trying to figure out what shot they will take wait and explain how they executed the shot. Pretty hard to read their minds and the table. Love the Pearl.
I like this suggestion, especially when there are several good ways to play a shot. Personally, i'd like to see a roughly-even mix of prediction, explanation, and anecdotes about prior experiences Earl had that are brought to his mind by situations in the current match.

Cheers
thanks for watching!
Good shooting Capt😉🖒
we love you Earl!!!
You need to commentate a live big match with mike segal along side.
Think of the possibilities. Epic.
The table is super fast or maybe boingy....LOL...love it!
Sounds like im teachin says Earl ..! Teach us Earl we r learning amateurs out there lol 👍 keep doing it we love ur commentary ..!
the good players listen too lol
Was it humid or dry? Does humidity tend to stiffen the rails for greater rebound effects? and reduce friction? Or vice versa or none of these?
Pool Monsters shows high humidity quickens rebound.

He shot that ball like an apa player hahahahaha
Faheem Zia No, it was not like an APA player....because he made the shot.
In fact u was listening to Earl more than watching the 2 players. Pick up so much from Earl!
If I ever become a promoter, sponsor or host of any major tournament, the only two people I ever want to do live commentary is Earl and JJ.
I love that every shot is a competition against himself. Earl has to call it right.
After rupturing my left Achilles tendon, being on the pool table was the only medication I needed.
@21:05 If Earl begs you to play safe then you know it’s a hard shot lol
