This is how exactly i used to make rockets during diwali. My ratio was 7:3:1. I have seen with this ratio, pressure was more, rocket was quick.

In Thailand, it's easier to make a small rocket. They use a water pipe as the rocket, then cover the head of the rocket with fire, then press it with paper and clay, and use a single pounding iron. When finished compacting the black clay, use clay to compress the bottom and drill holes with a hand drill.
The problem with drilling is that, you cannot get a good tapered hollow core

Thank you for the link from your other video, very easy to follow. I had no idea a slow mix would work so well for rocketry. Do you use the same mix for a rocket with a heading? Does this same mix work for larger rockets with heavier payloads as well? I enjoy making Black Lowder for my old guns and antique cannon I have. I find the process very calming and relaxing. Its also nice to feel that sense of accomplishment making your own BP. I live in the middle of the country with lots of land and no neighbors. Now that my two sons are getting older, we want to make our own rocket engines for their home made model rockets. This is why I ask the questions. Anyways, another great video and I enjoyed it very much. I will share it with all of my pyro loving friends.

With headings I use 60 30 10
For larger rockets it depends on the specifications of the tool.
For 3/4 rocket I use 55 35 10 with heading
Such mixtures often burn quicker under pressure. Granulated black powder for example burns about 50 times faster under confinement and high backpressure. Of course that’s not what you want in a rocket.

Not necessary. Dry works fine. Also Dextrin will slow down the burn rate

Most garden store will sell it in pure form as a soil pH modifier.
(Sublimated or flowers of sulphur)
May need to be washed for some compositions but is fine as is without need of further milling or washing when purchased as a powder.

Then bottom diameter of spindle should be 3/5ths of 1 inch
Adjust accordingly.
