    Thank you for the upload. Glad Uncle Scrooge’s first appearance is maintaining its value.

    That cover to Jumbo Comics #20, credited to John Celardo, is almost identical to the cover of Sheena (Fiction House) #4 (Fall, 1948), with the Sheena cover figure seemingly just the same, except for the added ankle bracelets. Interestingly, the Grand Comics Database attributes the cover art on Sheena #4 to Joe Doolin.

    I have a Donald Duck comic from the early 70s by Carl Barks.

    The Adventure Comics 48 3.0 in your video has off white - white pages, while your comparison to the 2022 sale $3,120 had slightly brittle pages so it is difficult to compare. In 2023 there were two restored books in 3.5 and 2.0 that went for $3,720 and $3,600 respectively. Still there is a good increase with this sale.

    The Uncle Scrooge is definitely a book I would love to own someday... I tend to collect books that have a low census and when a graded copy comes up for sale, I tend to make a note of it and pray I can buy it before it sells out... good thing is, though, my checklist is quite vast, so I have at least 10 books to choose from, but it's still kind of heartbreaking when I miss out... it's a shame I don't have the finances to purchase all of them at once, but it makes me appreciate the books I am able to get more 😊

    According to "The Art of Glamour", the best but not necessarily perfect source for Baker attributions,that Jumbo is not Baker. It is almost certainly based on a Joe Doolin layout but with finishes by Kamen or some other Iger studio artist. There are other FH covers where Baker could have pencilled the female figure, with studio mates contributing the rest of the art.

      According to the Comic Database it is a Matt Baker cover. I wouldn't doubt other artists might have been involved as well.

      @@ComicCollectorGeek There is no particular rigor for the postings on GCD. The list in the book was put together with folks who specialize in Matt Baker. I highly recommend that book, as well one on Fiction House where you can see actual pencil layouts by Joe Doolin.

    I'll have a copy of that Donald Duck issue one day.....May not be that grade, but I'll pay extra for a lower grade with good eye appeal... A shame Scrooge isn't on the cover... I think if Scrooge was actually on the cover it would be a bit more of a significant key to collectors...

    DANG! I had no idea that you could get such great deals on Ebay! I am going to have to start looking for these types of books as well; I would have snapped up most of those comics on the spot! You are right, "Snooze you lose"!! I don't think I would have bought the "Fight against Crime" though; because I am not a big fan of missing cover chunks, or, the Black Cat comic, because it was priced too much over recent sale prices. The rest though, were great buys in my opinion! The fear of "Snooze you lose" happening was why I bought my BM #1. If you remember us both bidding on that *CGC .5 on MCS* back in the October Prime auction, we both didn't bid very much; but that book went for like $46K if I remember correctly (and it looked horrible with all the 'medical tape' on the spine). That is why when I saw that BM 2.0 R, I bought it within like 15 minutes of it showing up for sale LOL! Great video!

      Yeah you were smart grabbing it when you could. I was shocked by the price of the 0.5.

    That Jumbo doesn’t look like Baker to me as it looks pretty generic. I’m convinced Jungle 135 is a Baker (or maybe Kamen) cover. CGC lists it as Whitman but I’m pretty sure that’s wrong.

    • @ComicCollectorGeek
      @ComicCollectorGeek  10 днів тому

      Jungle 135 looks like Maurice Whitman face with Baker hair.

    IT'S NOT A BAKER COVER! Anyone with eyesight can see.

      I originally thought that too. But it is accredited to him. See the Grand Comics Database
