Sounds just what I want from a Handheld - not just 'Xbox' but ALL PC games too. I bet 'old' games run flawlessly on it and look incredible on that small screen....
Sure but is running a Microsoft platform by the default and it came with the native Xbox game pass app out of the box so at least in that aspect we can say is Xbox focused but of course that's not entirely true XP
I said this device is not only going to be great for Gamepass/Epic/GOG, but its going to be a great unit to run those previous gen emulators on to boot.
Pretty good video covering the essentials. I wish more reviews talked more of how to connect The ROG Ally to a TV, and a mouse and keyboard. Most have mentioned the ASUS ROG XG Mobile 2023, but this is a very high end solution/option. I would love to hear more about the ASUS ROG 65W Charger Dock and what it can and cannot do with the ROG Ally.
I used to have gamepass, but I’ve recently gotten rid of it and don’t see myself getting it again. The only reason I would want to get this device is if I would be able to download my Xbox games on it and be able to play them on the go. Is that possible with this device? I understand that this device is basically a portable pc that you can play games on, but I don’t own any games on pc. I only own games on Xbox specifically. Thank you again for your response and I appreciate your time.
Something that I'd like to know as well. Did you ever find out? I have an Xbox so I'd want to play my console games and earn achievements for those games while I'm away from home.
With no exclusive games, I've no reason to get this whilst I already own an Xbox Series X (which is primarily why I purchased both Nintendo handhelds and consoles... easier and cheaper now it's just one system) but the fact that this even exists is really cool. 1:41 - The handheld looks fairly heavy so I'm surprised to hear that it's stand is made of cardboard and capable of holding it up. The recyclable nature of all the packaging is really neat and appreciated, even though much like you, I'd likely keep the box for both memorabilia and storage. 2:14 - The presentation of this review is astounding by the way, not just in the video editing but also the energy and enthusiasm you put into voicing the script. 4:12 - Agreed... it should have been a nice Xbox Green instead. What is with all the consoles and handhelds these days being either black or white? It's a handheld and they used be known for their variety of colours released over the years (my purple Game Boy Colour was the first gaming system I owned myself). 6:24 - Certainly a good way to demonstrate the volume the Ally is capable of. 9:10 - Agreed; certainly becomes an issue when part of the appeal of handhelds and even consoles back in the day are their more immediate pick-up-and-play. The breakdown was handy for a less tech savvy person like myself to understand. 12:37 - That was one of the things I was most curious about, given the lack of space for an Xbox disc to pop in. As someone like you living in remote UK, a system reliant on consistent internet connection is never really an option. 14:43 - Sega and Xbox are clearly kindred spirits, both with chunky handhelds that struggle with the whole handheld part due to their battery consumption.
Can I put my xbox account on this and play my xbox one games locally without too much messing about with settings. I have never used a pc for games, so I literally have no idea
Nice video! You should have more subs. They should've priced the lower model at $499 with 256GB instead leaving a bigger gap. It's a no-brainer to get the Extreme one for $100 more cause the performance difference is huge.
I have a windeck (a steam deck with windows installed) and just for fun im only using the Microsoft store for the past 4 days, and it feels like a Xbox portable indeed XD, But anyway the rog ally have windows 11 out of the box so for windows is just better than the deck:v
