Think about this: When these 40+ ton earth movers were first produced back in the 1950s they had manual transmissions with non-syncro clutches, no power steering, full on or off air brakes, the seat in the operators cab was barely padded on a hard steel frame, no heat or air conditioning in the cab, and no sound insulation. The guys who ran these for 8-12 hours straight every day back then were tough as nails.
It's three horn toots for backing up... two for moving forward and one for starting the engine.... well it was when I was driving them for over ten years
I've worked every oilsands site except Syncrude with Clean Harbors. I will be forever be indebted to the Oilsands for the safe professional training, decent money and brilliant Moral. 5 years dealing with Toronto and I had to leave Canada. God bless all the people in the Oilsands. And thank you. Irish
Same thing as being Captain on small passenger ferry under 250 tons. The load is always changing. The wind, Water currents. Can't see in fog. You have to have a feel for the changes. There are no brake on a ferry. I'm sure I could drop right in and operate one of these haul trucks. :)
I am a driver of large metal komatsu cat trucks, with experience, are there opportunities to immigrate and work in any country such as Canada, America or Australia
he tells him not to brake and then tells him to stop after he hits the truck and says 'see what happened there'? Yeah you told me NOT to brake. poor instruction really. I bet old mate forgot this happens in the run but made it look like it wasn't his fault
The mining company would still prefer you pull the automatic CO2 engine compartment fire suppression system handle as you exit the front stairway. Saves on extra work by the steam blasters and mechanics back at the shop.
Peace be upon you. How are you? My name is Said from Morocco, a mechanic for heavy equipment. I am now looking for a new job. I have ten years of experience. I am now ready for a job interview with you.
Operating these isn’t that hard. I’m a HD mechanic we run these daily and drive them in and out of tight ship areas and yards and haul roads for testing. The trucks are the easiest to operate

They were the true muckshifters 👍👍👍
Real men working with real machines
More painful, yes, but probably also more fun than driving today's computerized version :-)

I loved practicing on the simulator!! Now I’m officially a certified T793 haul truck operator, moving mountains!! 🔥
Where did you learn brother
how does one get trained for these?
I learned on an actual 797 while sitting in the driver's seat and backing up to an oilsands electric shovel. No stupid assinine simulator.

2 to back up, 1 go forward at Fort hills has been for the last 4 years I’ve been there
Two to back up, 1 to go forward, 3 to reposition at the shovel!
@Me Me it’s 18 years old, contact keyano college, apply around Kmc is likely looking for someone at the moment
No need for horn blasts while out in the active mine area. For example backing under the digger. No need for horn blasts.

it's really cool that the big tools in the mine are always there to watch
This is why I like Canadians. Safety to the operator is always the first priority and not money. 😎🍻
When you used to be hard af but now you’re a career man.
That is a BIG ASS STOP SIGN!
It is a good heavy machine. They are cool. I enjoyed the video.

We called it TAR SANDS back in my day. Oil sands sounds prettier, but that stuff is TAR!
1:05 for sure, eh?
Its of no avail nowadays.
Automation is in the seat now. A few more are scheduled for that. So goodnight Irene.
Autonomous are 88% efficiency, our manned trucks on a nearby site is 91% and don't need hundreds of millions in technology.
That CAT 797B Giant Dump Truck has already used to appear in Sonic Movie 3 on December 20, 2024.
The simulator is 100% harder than actually hands-on driving those trucks. It's almost as if they are programmed for you to fail it.

I never got to use a sim, we had to sit in the passenger seat for 5 days then got to drive
Salut. Je conduis de la machinerie lourde et des camions, avez-vous un emploi?

Don't believe its hard its not, this is bs. That's a computer. Real Life is not hard.

Are you kidding me with this bullshit?
In French
Wtf is this
Why would you want to take a course to operate a haul truck, it’s a brain dead job . That simulator is a joke
How many series have you ran?
@@InfinitePiechotta I’ve operated 85D, 120D, 120E Wabco haul trucks, and 785,789,793 Cat haul trucks in open pit coal mining in BC
@@bighemi57 years ago I operated those haul trucks you stupid dumb ass
Keep your stupid fuckin comment to yourself
They look like they are slow and boring to operate. I would fall asleep driving those trucks.
I promise you wouldn’t think that if you drove one. Things happen real quick when you’re driving something that’s 1.4 million pounds loaded.
just wait till you’re haulin ass doing 65 down the haul road and an lv decides to cut infront of you
