We have a skid ramp at the mine I work at and we spin out on purpose its amazing the trucks are 3 times as big as these 777 s Caterpillar makes a really smart truck it always corrects itself👌SO MINTY
The 797F has a phenomenal traction control system and skid correction, but the still slide like crazy in the right conditions. The 793C trucks we have will slide on only a quarter inch of mud.
The downside would be with that much carried weight coupled with the on the road tires which do not have any sort of good grip at all on this slick mud (You can see the driver having to induce slides on his way down to force the front tries to dig harder to slow his slide downhill) the entire truck would start to backslide as soon as he slowed down too far, and the top speed required to maintain grip isn't achievable on that turn with slick tires.
@waults It get's old pretty quick going back and forth. I always looked forward to slippery conditions just because it's more of a challenge and it's a lot less boring.
Same prob for us when we lime stabilise our roads in NZ,on a hot day the water cart will have to give it 3 runs,by the third run the bloody truck will just start heading sideways, diff locks and all.End up in the watertable and the grader has to come and tow us out.Pain in the arse.
traction maybe. look how the load is almost evenly distributed between front and back. i know some old dump trucks that distributed the load to the back wheels causing the truck to loose grip on front wheels and it was impossible to turn.
@cnote4461 Not really sure. The wheelbase and the width are almost the same. My guess would be they are built wide for stability and short for manoeuvrability. Anyone else??
Just another day on the job. These are fairly small cats. At time I have the same problem here in Western Australia only in 793D and Fs. Mass Gross of 483 tonnes sideways down a 1 in 10 ramp. Bite marks in the seat!
@JimHowDigsDirt I'd guess the stress on the central frame might be involved as well. With longer wheelbase, covering the horizontal distance between front and rear axle would require a massive piece of steel (adding a lot of weight) to withstand the enormous stress, or it would literally break in half. Probably a lot easier to deal with if the wheelbase is shorter. Take a look at Liebherr truck's frame for example - it's almost V shaped, making it more resistant to bending forces.
Why constantly build conveyors to follow your cut? You still have to get it to the conveyor, further away each bucket. Trucks are the way to go in open pits.
what's it like to live in Canada? Is it better and or nicer than America i'm curious because i'm thinking about moving there once i'm older and i have a vehicle
I'd be at work until they made me go home if I was driving one of these there, LOL. Probably was a very tiring day, concentrating on not crashing a $mil truck in those conditions and still make cycle times.
im surprised that was happening with more than one truck those two trucks passing each other on a slippery bend. just bloody waiting for a freaking disaster.
@deathraiderlol sorts teh men from the boys, and the women from the girls Eh?, the drifting going downhill. and the power thru the uphill climbs was impressive, id say anyone of those peopel could write their own checks lol.
Why all ultra class haul trucks have rear axle drive, i thought in mining operating environment all wheel drive will be more practical? Only belaz 75710 AWD, but this truck not so popular
For this site....on that day....I would have preferred my Volvo articulated hauler....A40D or A40E. when it dried-up...put me back in the rigid hauler.
should have taken the ramp wider, 2 much weight 2 make a tight turn in the mud... scary shit though when u slide in one of those cat's... reminds u 2 respect the machine and mother nature
As the caterpillar offroad minig trucks were able to get down a clay covered mining road as after a rain the road turned into a greasy mess. Fully laden what if the mining trucks couldn't get halfway up a slope when they spun-out. What if the mining company had to send in its D12 dozers to give the mining trucks a helping hand.
Daniel Libich Years ago when I was working for this company, they would have a D11 just scraping the hill and pushing trucks up over the top when it got really slippery.
Ya, no music, if i wanna here music, i turn on the radio, when i wanna watch vid;s of trucks, and other ecqument, i watch youtube, dispence with the music already.
Excuse me Fort Crack??? how freaking ignorant was that. Keep in mind this is a vehicle that is as tall as a two story house. Millions of tons in it fully loaded, and you don't want to deal with the ass end sliding out. Hubby tells me some wild stories especially about the Cowboys who think they are the top shit driving it. sheesh and you guys make fun of it.
Personally, I'd rather hear the trucks than the music.
Damned-straight! Why do folks make an interesting video---and then cheese it up with a stupid-music track?☻
Badger469 I agree with you on that. Man it's annoying to say the least
i always wanted to see these trucks making drifts, now my dream is reality....thank you uploader :)!
Short wheel base makes them have a very small turning circle, perfect for backing up to a wheeled loader, digger or shovel
We have a skid ramp at the mine I work at and we spin out on purpose its amazing the trucks are 3 times as big as these 777 s Caterpillar makes a really smart truck it always corrects itself👌SO MINTY
I bet the big trucks are pretty high tech since I last drove them 20 years ago.

Haha I’ve done a few 360’s and bounced off the berms in a 777 a number of times!
Been there , done that! Kinda fun lol.
that road is slicker than a hungry dog on thanksgiving lol.
grader or dozer driver must be off sick my boss would go crazy if he seen trucks spinning like that ha ha
@Honda good wing... They drive on the opposite side so the cabs of the trucks are not next to each other in case of a head on collision.
@waults It get's old pretty quick going back and forth. I always looked forward to slippery conditions just because it's more of a challenge and it's a lot less boring.
BLADE the DAMN ROAD
usaisalwaysnumber1 YA! Make it even more slick!!!! Ya! More sliding action!
My Life BACK DRAG SLICKS moron BLADE THE DAMN ROAD down to dry material..

@rsx123 I think cause of the weight of it. I think they cant turn if fully loaded if it had tracks
@cnote4461 Not really sure. The wheelbase and the width are almost the same. My guess would be they are built wide for stability and short for manoeuvrability. Anyone else??

To keep the frame rigid. Stretch it out to far you get frame flex and need to add a tandem/tag axle
Quite cool drifting one of those... ^^ With all that weight it sure must be slippery!
Great backing track
I run a 2010 cat 770, and when we water the haul roads, man you can get to sliding and spinning all around if your not careful
@ thinkforthefuture. I reckon he would get over the tyres for the cost of the down time for the sake of a wet ramp
Drifting mining trucks. Cool!
@javelinxd44 This mine is located right in a small town. All you have to do is stand on the berm around the mine and film away.
Pull up the circuit, call the graders, clean it up. You just fuck the haul road and put lives at risk running in shit like that.
same all over the world , left hand drive rigid dump trucks and excavators with cab on same side,
@zinc20L it's actually fun sliding these things around.
Hell yeah they are!
Need a half track or full track machine. How come they don't just lay RR tracks and transport this stuff over rail or conveyor belt type system.
+KarasCyborg They used to use a conveyor system for a few years. I don't know why they don't use it anymore.
Why constantly build conveyors to follow your cut? You still have to get it to the conveyor, further away each bucket. Trucks are the way to go in open pits.
These are rear wheel drive only.
Awesome video!
what's it like to live in Canada? Is it better and or nicer than America i'm curious because i'm thinking about moving there once i'm older and i have a vehicle
like the vid but the trucks sound better i no drive them
cute cat!
I'd be at work until they made me go home if I was driving one of these there, LOL.
Probably was a very tiring day, concentrating on not crashing a $mil truck in those conditions and still make cycle times.
Those things are just so powerfull
@ablue202 Must be something like a donut by the sounds of it...I never ever tried doing cookies in a rock truck.
wheres the graders? lol good fun
I'm just curious - why do they make those trucks with such a short wheel base?
The dual tires make it look like a small wheel base.
how can you film there. in the mine i work at they fire you if you film anything. in fort mcmurray
im surprised that was happening with more than one truck those two trucks passing each other on a slippery bend. just bloody waiting for a freaking disaster.
10 to 15 grand a tire and the dirt boss lets em do that, what a hack outfit.
Nice video though. I love the Cat....
Thought these were 6 mil a piece??
fort crack?
that is what I call massive burnout ^_^
someone probably asked this but are these 4wd or just rear-wheel drive?
Almost all rigid frame haul trucks in the world is Rear-wheel i am don't know why. Only Belaz 75710 is awd
@Dodgeram591 Trucks are not big enough to be "Ft Mac"
I agree but it's not better if all you hear is the wind.
yes but trust me you would'nt want to
Good video, but you should post a version with just the sounds of the trucks.
why didn't they try to drift them!
great vid, skilled drivers but should have used slip slidin' away as a backing track.....
world record burnout
@SandyeeBa "millions of tons?" Try more like 100, overloaded.
They need to get the 24M out there and clean up that haul road
@deathraiderlol sorts teh men from the boys, and the women from the girls Eh?, the drifting going downhill. and the power thru the uphill climbs was impressive, id say anyone of those peopel could write their own checks lol.
my dad runs the big 797s!
have to have a good turn radius to get under a shovel on a sinking cuts
that sorts the men out from the boys hahaha
@javelinxd44 Why do they fire you?
worked at a mine where they ran the tyres til they blew, sounded like a bomb went off next to my drill !!
eh??? so if they drove on the left with right hand drive that would make a difference?????
no
would ur boss get mad if u tried to tokyo drift that corner?
The real back ground noise is always better.
Check out this massive drift!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why all ultra class haul trucks have rear axle drive, i thought in mining operating environment all wheel drive will be more practical? Only belaz 75710 AWD, but this truck not so popular
drifting time!
ทางลงเข้าทำให้แล้ว
It's unanimous, ditch the music! Please!
Oh, yeah, my camera is affected very badly by the wind too. Some videos that should've been very good are just ok because of the wind.
Someone call for some scoria?
the music is fine. im not finding it annoing. i think it fits the video just fine
lmfao at the person who said this truck is over a million tonnes fully loadded pahahaha SandyeeBa
For this site....on that day....I would have preferred my Volvo articulated hauler....A40D or A40E. when it dried-up...put me back in the rigid hauler.

well ...pretty sure a PAYHAULER never had this traction problems...
Fast and the Furious 6 - Dump Truck drift
i wanna c one of these do a mud bog
What is the meaning of music? Why not leave out the natural sounds? If we want music we will listen to the one we like.
The only reason for the music was because of the wind noise in the video. Free music is never any good.
@@JimHowDigsDirt Thank you for your response
caterpillar truck burnout
Ya, no music, if i wanna here music, i turn on the radio, when i wanna watch vid;s of trucks, and other ecqument, i watch youtube, dispence with the music already.
Need a grader and some grit on that road
Some videos have a lot of wind noise so I use music instead.
is it possible to lock the diff on these trucks?
needs a locker and boggers lol
As far as I am aware, it would stop the free spinning wheels. What's the downside?
Easy on the gas :)))
@javelinxd44 Ah! Gotcha, that makes alot of sense.
what the fuck am i watching.. think its time i stopped procrastinating haha
the key is speed
I thought it was a cool tune .
@Dodgeram591 Coal strip mine in Stellarton, Nova Scotia.
Seems like the risk of shredding tires would be awful high when they're slipping like that.$$$$$$
With the money they are making, I don't think they are worried about tires!

at least post this with quieter music. or better yet no music.
@inversboy Probably skid marks in your underwear too, lol. Cheers from Canada.
