I like your videos. I was born and raised in Orange County, CA but now living in rural southeast Georgia. My daughter went and graduated from DLI school and is still active duty and lived there for 2 years. I fell in love with Monterey when I visited. However, I would say the utilities are very cheap there. My electricity bill can be anywhere from 200-450/mo. And water about 60. Food is cheaper there too. I’ve lived in 5 different states and I find that California is really only expensive in housing.
Also with gas, it may be more expensive in CA than gas in GA, however, my job is 60 miles away one way so I use more and end up paying more whereas everything in CA is more local and closer and at least walkable. My dream is to move to Monterey.
Also, I’ve been paying close attention to rents in that area and believe it or not, Savannah, Georgia and Monterey are neck and neck in pricing.

Congratulations to your daughter for graduating from DLI❤️❤️ Monterey is a beautiful place to live. Plus there's neighboring Seaside also.

In 1981 in Marina on Reservation road a 2 bedroom apartment was $1100. Its always been expensive.

Wow didn't realize that but yeah I guess that makes sense. Expensive to leave near the coast in a beautiful place.

Hey Aakash thanks for the email. Unfortunately, Realtors aren't allowed to comment on the safety of certain neighborhoods and encourage people to buy in a certain area or stay away from other areas. That is called redlining. I can say from my experience and having lived in over seven cities as an adult in the United States, Panama, Spain, Italy, and Singapore that I've always felt safe in Monterey. Have no concern about walking around at night in any of the neighborhoods but that would be different person to person. Plenty of websites out there with crime statistics but most crimes here, if any, are theft and nonviolent related crimes. Hope that helps but feel free to give me a call if you're thinking of moving to the area.

My spiritual center is by Central and Grand, I think. So I want to be by there within driving distance.

I was born here a long time ago. Monterey is more expensive but I find your food cost a bit high...allowing that we don't eat top end steak too often. One advantage to the Monterey Peninsula (unlike most of the country) is we keep our air conditioning outside. Houses is continuing to rise. I do not understand why people leave a good job and housing to come to live here if they do not have millions. Unrealistic.
