  • In this one, we undertake a once in a lifetime experience! Montana Rock Mom invited us to join her in hunting a site on private property that we were given permission to hunt on for Cretaceous shark teeth! We found SO many teeth, from Scapanorhynchus(Goblin Sharks) to Squalicorax(the Crow Shark) and even a giant Cardabiodon! The variety and quantity was amazing; those are teeth I'd be thrilled to find in Florida, so reminding myself that they came from Montana makes the experience that much better! After our dig we head back to the shop to prep some of our specimens. I hope you all enjoy this one, and I will have another one out very soon!
I am running a booth at the Billings Gem and Mineral Show at the Billings Hotel & Convention Center August 3rd-6th, and am doing a Meet and Greet August 4th from 11:30 a.m.- 12:30! Here is a link to the event page; even if you don't think you can make it in person, selecting "interested" on the event page is a massive help for me that is greatly appreciated! I hope to see all of you there, and Rock on!

My mind is absolutely blown 17:49 that tooth is almost identical to a tooth I found of late cretaceous in south Texas probably same age roughly but it has that dark tip with that almost yellow line above it and then brown crazy. I wish I could show a picture

Theo... dude, I love your stuff and things that you get into! Just to answer one of your questions: Yes Yes Yes... I love seeing the stuff after being prepped, are you kidding? That's the best! I'd be disappointed to not see any prepped. You are a cool dude. I know cool... I've been cool for 61 years 😂 keep on doing you! Thanks for the awesome context buddy!

Ahh! I want to shave down the rocks and expose them fully myself! But, I guess that kind of takes away from it in a way. Seems like a blast to clean them up! But leaving them in situ (if positioned properly) is still so awesome

Almost missed this one! Thank you for answering the question I was going to ask. I thought with the different small teeth you were finding right in one area, could this have been a "shark nursery"? But then I thought, different species, probably not. Then we find out they are all the same species, but different mouth positions--how cool is that! Oh and the grandsons loved the mystery grab bags, Theo! They are enjoying getting fossil material from different states, and Montana was one I hadn't gotten for them until I found your channel and website. Tell Alexis I loved tadpoles as a girl just like she does. Frogs and toads make such a lovely summer sound!

We were at fort clinch this spring but only found a few teeth heading down to marco area here this fall and hoping to maybe check out a place near Fort myers I just heard about that has shark teeth on the peace River somewhere but from what I heard you need a permit to collect there

They do, kim actually reported these finds to the museum and they showed very little interest😂many of the exposures in Montana are extremely well documented and searched so the museum has an abundance of specimens MUCH nicer than ours. Even my REALLY nice one that i showed at the end would be small in comparison to theirs. Thats actually why i thought to donate some to Derek for his museum, i assume there aren't too many cretaceous Montanan shark teeth on display all the way down in Florida!
