Calcite Crystal Filled Fossils! Digging for Gorgeous Crystal Filled Clams and Whelks!

- In this one, we head to a private site with our good friend Derek the Rock Master to hunt for some amazing calcite fossil specimens! Unfortunately, the site had eroded quite a bit during recent storms, so we had several hours of digging before we even saw our first specimen. That being said, the wait and work was well worth it, because the finds started to pile up after that! Gorgeous whelks, olive shells, moon snails, and clam shells all filled with fantastic honey colored dogtooth calcite crystals! It was a wonderful day, and I am thrilled we got some good specimens to bring home with us! After the hunt, we head back to the shop, where I break out the air scribe to prep our finds! I hope you all enjoy, and I will have another one out soon!

Those are some gorgeous finds! It certainly isn't as abundant there as it was in the past, but it just makes every find you had, that much more special! And with your talent at prepping them, you turned them into some amazing specimens! I love the well that was open on one side! That was a gorgeous specimen and a perfect thumbnail! And seeing Derek the rock master in your video, made it that much more perfect! What an awesome day! And I loved how Alexis was peeking around your shoulder!😆 So perfect! Dang bro, everytime I see another Florida fossil/Rockhounding/shell hunting/ diving trip, the sea calls to me like I'm fricken aquabear or something. So many cool things down yonder that is uniquely Florida. Fantastic voyage.

Dental picks and scrapers are great tools when you have to get extremely close, under magnification even better. 😃

All these finds are wonderful, the first calcite shell/whelk (your thumbnail) is just amazing. The bone, (baby) shark tooth, and then the "Glow Clam" are all SUPER cool too.

dude! seriously! I have been daydreaming of getting to not only meet you and alexa but to hound with you! Its gonna be nuts brother, not sure ill have enough space to store the footage but I'm sure ill be able to figure somethin out. These calcite whelks are beyond bucket listed goodness!

Yes, that well has amazing display of crystals and it is my favorite piece as well, but found some awesome fossils on that trip. I love glow of the calcified snails. Very cool video.❤

WOW ~ Those look like some of the shells that are being found in SWFlorida these days.. With Crystals added.. Sad that so many disintegrate. & the mud is so soft! Lucky you!!

I love these fossils. They almost seem fake, because they're so wonderful and weird and gorgeous.
I gotta admit-I also try to sneak peeks to see if I can spot "the ring" now in hunting videos in which your *fiance* shows up. ;) (again-congrats you two!)
I agree with your choice of favorite. You’re so darn lucky! I am in Florida nearly every week. I never get to go to places like that. I have found some cool stuff and have a few videos down there but nothing I have found probably comes close to comparing. Makes me sad.
