lol the Tamiyo "I'm going to be scared of you because I can't see how you win immediately, all she does is draw cards.".
As someone building Necrobloom, all I can say in my defence is that the portrait art version is super sick. That dude getting digested on the side, daaaaaamn!
I'd rather have a plant legend that is U/B/G so I can run my beloved Wall of Kelp
Bought it today , in foil . Dear god it’s such a beautiful card
Trying to build it casual is proving harder than making the deck combo 🤣
Vore enthusiast located
Does anyone else like to sleeve neat commanders with their art card on back?
I like the interpretation that Ulalek is just the two titans holding hands before dipping in the "water", like analogy jace uses iirc. we stan our kings
I wish the common red legendary slot in this set was reserved for Tibalt
Yes his design space is some of the most interesting of any planeswalker (not a high bar to be fair) and they just kind of killed him in the story without even giving him a new card in the process. That's some crazy disrespect
I was hoping we'd see a compleated tibalt in this set
0:54 you hit a sore spot, dude. I still haven't recovered from my dad becoming a 3/3 elk.
😂😂😂 can you ever!??!
I dont know how you managed to find the weirdest looking toilet on the planet when roasting Herigast
Jyoti is so funny to me because what part of the ability is supposed to be blue? It makes land tokens and buffs them, atleast make it scry or something.
The blue part is because it enables lots of landfall triggers, obviously. Reading the card explains the card, ;)
It's blue for the very same reason the newest Gonti is BUG and Sidar Jibari is Esper. It's so that whiney wanna-have-it-alls can play the cards that would otherwise not be in their new commander's identity.
My only question for bloomburrow is what happens to Ajani if he goes there
Turns into a suited up Salary Man.
Let's be real though he'd be a cat
I’m almost sure Nadu was meant to be twice a turn period but someone wanted to be a menace and changed it to twice per creature
And it would still be good in commander like this .
That's how it was originally presented, but then someone on the BoD sang the entire Push it to the Limit, while gesticulating what they wanted to be done to the poor card.
Satya escaped the roast with nary a gentle slap on the wrist. I am pleased.
idk why but "keys to the shed" actually killed me
I'm laughing so hard from that "card"
Kind of glad Kudo got off easy. I want make him into a commander so i can force everyone to play bears.
Even all my KarnStructs? D:
Oh, wait, they are now buffed by +2/+2. So, yea, go ahead. :D
It's damn good on Arena. And bears are my spirit animals.
Da bears
"Only the weirdest people would play [[Phlage]] in the command zone." I've had worse insults leveled at me. But it was the only legendary I pulled that I was actually interested in.
I'm in the same boat. Friends are calling me crazy but all I hear is "This is an astral slide cycling commander" (and I have no idea why)
Met you at commandfest in Birmingham when you helped my mate flip his Ulamog from the grave and i asked for more salty videos after the fury one. Let me just say urzas piss bucket and keys to the shed had me rolling. As professor would say it needs to be a “NeW sEcReT lAiR aLeRt”
I'm back from a couple months off of mtg. This is the inspiration I need. Thanks Vince. ❤
Welcome back!
I built Satya, and I'm honestly surprised he got off easy here. The deck intends to win through energy value, but seeing how games actually need to end at some point... he also enables like twelve different insta-win combos. Really looking forward to playing this in my pod.
Of course I don't play Arhi for being a sexy catgirl.
I play her for being one *foxy* lady!
12:13 And...since you already made a Yugioh reference...
"We demand that you wear a shirt that covers your manly chest! You're making us all look out of shape!"
7:41 "Biggest Crime: Boring" --Pleasant Kenobi. "The supreme vice is shallowness." --Oscar Wilde.
Gonna be honest, I've been out of the loop a while and it doesn't feel like there's nearly as many commanders as I was expecting.
You say: modern horizons now has commander product.
I say: commander horizons is now modern legal 👍
I notice the absence of the all too critical question, "But... Can. They. GET IT?"
Between PK and Mald, we are eating well, my fellow gatherers of luxury cardboard rectangles.
Fun fact: "Pick yourself up by your bootstraps" was originally a saying meaning to do something impossible
So I actually faced an Eldrazi deck last week that managed to exile my deck down to seven cards. And I still won the match.
Granted, I got incredibly lucky draws, and the entire table was pretty much targeting them as soon as the big boys started coming out. You can even argue that the main MH3 Eldrazi weren't even the commanders, but I still felt pretty good taking that match.
And yeah, they threw around some playful salt as to the whole "Why am I being targeted, I didn't do that much" and I just pointed to my exiled deck with this "Shut up."
I know I'm always safe when these come around because I play a Marrow Gnawer deck inspired by PK's in a Commander Clash from about five years ago
Oh I’m here for this. Get that god damned bird Milk Daddy
I miss when strong creatures had downsides
I miss when strong creatures weren’t their own engines
TWO POUND IS HALF A CUP OF COFFEE??!? What happened to this world
Hasbrew
ONLY a Kozilek Broken Reality? With the number of different things this card does for 9 generic, im convinced it's the best of the 3
At first I thought it was the weakest of the three, but now I'm not so sure.
As a commander, the Great Distortion is better in my opinion.
But as a 99 card, the hand disruption and the draw 4 from it might overtake the annihilator 4 or the colorless countering.
But even if it's the best of the three, it looks much less scary or oppressive than annihilator 4 or repeated counterspell by discard. Contrarily to the other variants, it does not look like a must answer immediately as its value once on board is just an anthem.
Those all look great. I already have a few built. Glad you included how to use them and what to combo with. That will save some time.
Damn ok, we’re one minute into the video and Kenobi’s already hit my dad.
"Baby's First Aggro Deck" for Kaalia hit me harder than I wanted it to.
YUGI - BOY
Mr. Pegasus, it's time for your sponge bath.
The first three seasons of Yu-Gi-Oh are a timeless classic.
@@hinatasninetailedfoxEspecially, when it's with Little Kuriboh's Abridged Series 😂
Azlask is a fun commander as a concept- 5 color aristocrats/experience counters AND is the first one to be in WUBRG
They're odd cuz it wants to go eldrazi spawns and scions tribal for the full shebang. Givingthem Annihilator 1 and indestructible. As a note- Azlask doesn't say "activate only as a sorcery" or "once per turn" so he can bamboozle an opponent who doesn't read the commander carefully
Lol I'm building at least 3 and i couldn't be happier. Thanks for the laughs, mate
I'm a noob in MTG and I only play standard and historic, but I've heard plenty of insults and yours are some of the most creative ever. Great video!
I realized how broken Nadu was when I pulled one at the MH3 prerelease and used nesting grounds to move around my +1/+1 counters. It was gross. And I built the EDH deck with mostly draft chaff and I worry it's too good.
I made a Kudo slime against humanity deck since he makes the 0/0 slimes into 2/2 slimes with all those counters
Is Spellweaver's Helix in there? :DD
As a diehard Satya stan, I will absolutely accept this roast! You're absolutely spot on with it, but that is why I love him.
Is Nadu working as they intended it, do you think, or was the "Only Twice" bit meant to be outside the quotes so you can only do it twice TOTAL versus twice to every creature?
Its definitely intended. If they wanted it to be twice per turn it would have just been one triggered ability detecting if any of your creatures are targeted
It has to be intended, because I don't think having it with "only twice" outside the quotes makes sense because it's giving the creatures an ability. If those are outside the quotes then mechanically it wouldn't actually work because then even though Nadu says it only triggers twice, the ability the creatures are given just has "Whenever this creature becomes the target of a spell or ability, reveal the top card of your library. If it's a land card, put it onto the battlefield. Otherwise, put it into your hand." which means they could trigger as much as they want.
To have it only trigger twice total means Nadu would have to have an ability that just says "Whenever a creature you control becomes the target of a spell or ability, reveal the top card of your library. If it's a land card, put it onto the battlefield. Otherwise, put it into your hand. This ability triggers only twice each turn."
Nadu sounds like it was designed by AI. Really bad AI. Now excuse me, I have Shukos to sell 😂😊
After all these years, Nekusar and my Kediss / Rograkh decks are still my favorites. Can't wait to build Shay Cormac though
Don't forget if you bounce nadu and play him again all your creatures get 2 more triggers due to it being a new instance of nadu
I can't believe you didn't draw a comparison to Bosh, Iron Golem, when talking about Imskir - when his last ability is word for word the same.
Just played a brawl against Nadu. I swung in for the win and my opponent just drew and ramped into a cyclonic rift. He/r started the combat phase with one land open.
There is actually a really cool looking mono red tron brew in Pauper going around with Skoa for what it's worth.
“Bionicle sex-pest” is an unforgettable line 😦
Pearl-Ear was my chase card from MH3, went right into Light-Paws
- Rosheen aka the Broccoli lady
- Omo is what happens when you want to later (years from now) make a Everything Everywhere All At Once Secret Lair.
- Kudo's, the Fonz of Bears
- Urza's Key's to the Shed should be a card LMAO
- I like Cayth, something about the design feels clean in such a power crept set
- Azlask, can't wait to get Obnoxious. IDW but this Eldrazi looks super fun like the Starscream of Eldrazi always wanting to be the big leader but is always better off at mid lvl managing.
- All I hear is ''Aren't A' Kindarude'' when people pronounce Arna Kennerud
- Ward- Discard... Black player: I have to discard a card to destroy your commander? OK, I'll just put this giant creature here and oh look Reanimate. Ward: Discard does not feel as bad as Ward: Sacrificing permanents :P
Allow me to inject Six DIRECTLY into the 99 of my Muldrotha deck. Hell, it was already 100% permanents!
The first part of Ashling's Magecraft trigger isn't once per turn, so its absolutely nuts that you can just rummage through your whole deck off of a copy spell loop. I can't wait to finish building her.
Bought the Ulalek deck yesterday and I'm already siding things out to get more eldrazi goodness going. I am cringe, but I am free.
i was prepared to get called out for my lame commander choices, i wasnt prepared for my father catching strays
I love that Azlask is so stupid that you can just shove draft cards and experience matters bullshit and feel like a threat
17:36 in defense of Eladamri being “generically good” as opposed to just hitting elves or whatever - this particular version references when he takes on the role of the Korvecdal, a mythical hero who was destined to unite the disparate tribes of Rath (namely, the Kor, the Vec, and the Dal). So this is actually a rare huge flavour W for this set.
As someone new to the MTG creator space, it's so great to see more people like me, and your honesty is so inspiring to me 😂 I am really laughing so hard because you're right...
Not bad. I think dialing back the anger-inducing theme and just going with plain logical explanation on why a commander might piss off players will be much better.
Oh! I just figured out why Retrace is good. It doesn't require you to discard it so, as long as you have a supply of lands, you can recast spells over and over again.
I saw Jonathat Suarez go off with Ashling and said: "What could possibly go wrong if I buid it myself?"
You cant hurt me, i like my Omo brew WAY too much
PleasantKenobi is the Gordon Ramsay of magic
Lol. Azlask is my favourite commander out of this set, I can't wait to troll one player at the table.
The moment you say something nice about Brenard, you have my like.
they made the necrobloom just for me and my Biollante (nethroi) gothic garden theme deck.
This video was great. Keep up the great work kenobi
The best way to explain ulalek is:
"You are playing ulalek, he is playing ulalek, he is also playing ulalek... i'm playing ulalek too... is anyone else playing ulalek that i need to know?"
"Meow"
Built Coram because, you know, Jund is awesome. Surprisingly powerful especially when you can fling someone for 60 damage, consistently.
Was literally building sorin on arena as you thrashed him
I've said it once, and I'll say it again. Nadu is the lastest example as to why Simic can't have fun toys. WoTC always prints some broken ass Simic card to pump sales and then ban it after the set isn't being printed anymore
I will say Grist is hella fun. I personally have a sweet spot for one mana commanders and hes just nice for what he is. Besides that its ur usual golgari deck with a new commander
"its going to end with a thassa's oracle" nuh uh, my Nadu is going into my Ivy Gleeful Spellthief deck, with venerated rotpriest so i can proliferate/toxic the shit out of my opponents or beat them down by stacking my board and making ivy massive while buffing my other creatures with shit like Titanic Growth
Eladamri may not have any synergy with elves but everyone is building him as an elf commander, elf players will build any legendary elf as an elf commander, there's probably someone out there with a Jon Irenicus elf deck
So true. The only non-Elf Eladamri deck I could tolerate cannot be built because you'd lack white for the Kor, the Vec and the Dal.
Grist may not be exciting to flip, but I'm going to build them nonetheless because I pulled one at the prerelease and they're the least milquetoast RecSur general I've seen in a while.
I accidently created a pre 2020 format at my LGS. Even 2020-2022 is wild game as someone who played standard in 2012 and more arena standard in 2024
Thank you for confirming i will build ajani
To be fair, all I did was turn my Rakdos Ayara into Imskir.
Wanna make the new ashling more fun! Just equip a basilisk collar to her and boom board wipe
Bionicle WHAT NOW
I really wanna see Ulamog and Kozilek doing the fusion dance
IN MY DEFENSE. I preordered the Eldrazi precon and only paid $60 for it
Personally really like nadu for cedh. It feels like we finally got a really good lands deck and imo it’s no more broken then Kinnan or blue farm
That was some hot shit! Thank you for kindly melting my face off w/ that fire!
Now I’m going to continue playing w/ all my new abzan toys
Surprised to see Imskir compared to Thought Monitor and not Bosh
RIP Bosh, you had a good one
i am proud of playing phelia exactly correctly (ie rules as written and intended) at a prerelease because i actually passed gcse english lmao
Honestly, we need more people to roast the simic players. Thank you for your service.
1:10 "Bionicle sex-pest" is one of the worst things I've ever heard. My favorite thing and my least favorite thing. I'll be sending a formal complaint to your manager (The Professor)
He's not my manager. But feel free to write to him.
Only ones I built were Satya and Coram, seems I choose the least roastable. That said, playing Satya the very first time i got very quicky targeted when i started making a copy of aetherstorm roc every turn.
Solid, I look forward to these every set release🍺
Them, foolish: wow field of the dead on a stick!
Me, wise: lmao glacial chasm lock
Too late, already brewed up "mono" black Sorin
Good stuff, the content i mean. I am not planning on building any of these commanders.
May I love the training wheel comment
Grist doesn't need to do much in a game. She's just a sweet little buggy and that's enough for me ❤
5:20 Be me. Sitting at my desk with a Tamiyo commander deck within arms reach.(it is also a Nadu deck)
9:58 Do we have confirmation that it is pronounced with the soft g? Ik that typically if it is followed directly by an e, it's soft, but the hard g makes more sense to me. With a hard g it would have the same sound as conflagrate which would be fitting because 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I thought you were gonna say “you filthy animals” at the end but you didn’t and now I’m sad 😂😂😂
Vince what is the track you use for the end of the video? I really like it!
Yes - you are correct - we are soooo baaad...
Pearl ear play like a 3 mana omniscience I play her in the 99 of my sythis deck
I feel proud that pk likes the same commander I do, jund mill babyyyyyyy
Vince, you seemed to be very passionate about MH III. Like getting a bit hot under the collar even. Would you consider a smash/pass video for planeswalkers / legendries. Explicitly we can exclude minors (appearance or by lore) but WotC does make this easy. I’m looking at Oko and Sorin especially lol.
