where I live they are very rare, main reason is collectors have the major stores tied up and the cars are removed before they hit the pegs, once I got to know the staffers in the stores they explain to me what goes on in the store room i also bumped into one very serious collector who has many stores pulling stock for him, the angry bird series cars were also impossible to find i'm yet to find a TH car, yet I could find a Lego Mr Gold
Speaking of younger collectors, I am one. I saw that ToysRus had cases on top of the shelves and I asked an worker to open one and I will stock the pegs. I ended up finding the Dodge Demon Super Treasure Hunt in the case. :) That was the first time I have ever found a Super in a store and I have been collecting for 3 years...
Really nice video Mark. Very informative and well shot. I've been an on and off collector since my Mom started getting me Hot Wheels in 1968. Up until this year I had never even seen a TH on the pegs, much less had a chance to buy one. However watching your videos for the last couple of years has given me so much more knowledge about Hot Wheels that this year I found about half of the Treasure Hunts and one Super. Admittedly part of the reason is because Mattel doesn't use the green stripe anymore but even that was something I found out due to your videos. Many Thanks and keep those great videos coming. One last thing, I couldn't agree more with your advice to be PATIENT! By following this advice I've saved myself a ton of stress and added years to my life. So far there's only been a couple of cars I've wanted but haven't been able to find and I'll be able to get those eventually on Ebay or at a flea market for a couple of bucks. Hope you and yours have a great Thanksgiving!
Nice topic. I really don't care what the t-hunts are worth. I collect the stuff I really like. I just love cars, so I collect cars I wish I could own in real life. If anyone has watched some of my videos. You would see that I leave regular t-hunts on the pegs most of the time. I only find super t-hunts 2-3 times a year if I am lucky. I would never leave a super on the pegs either. If I don't like that super, I can always send a RAOK.
I've been to flea markets and seen people with rows of up to 10 STH and all I think to myself is "greedy" not even lucky. I am going to a HW show this Sunday and I hope to find my favorite casting and non are treasure hunts, wish me luck.
Been going through a bunch of stuff I pulled out of my parents garage, including 200-300 Hotwheels, and I've identified four Treasure Hunts from the lot. Obviously not worth much since nothing's got the packaging anymore, but it's still kind of neat to know they're a bit different from the rest.
Great video Mark. After collecting for over 20 years I always try to convey the same thing to starting collectors. Thanks for talking about it. Great job! :)
Great video, thank you, you speak a lot of good sense. I used to buy whatever cars I liked, one day I bought a Corvette that turned out to be a super. I did the same thing you did - trekking around the different stores in a daily basis and buying anything that looked like a TH and it was getting silly.Nowadays I don't even know which ones are the THs, every so often I see one I want and I'll just buy it off eBay along with a few others to make postage costs more agreeable. Takes away the fun of finding one on a peg but so many people are collecting now and buying four or everything that I've found there has been less fun to be had recently anyway. Thanks again.
Its real easy to get caught up in the Treasure Chase. And forget the basic castings that in most cases are far better than a TH. I still love finding them (gives you a small rush) but love finding Jetsons, Love Bugs, ect. Awesome vid and very informative!!
Mark thanks for this I'm a collector myself and I have 3 treasure hunts but I remember I had blaze rod and I think it was the treasure hunt version but I don't know where it is. Thx for the videos.
The Kaz-Man has done it again with this awesome video! Great advice from a great person! I used to hunt just like that. When the store opened and everything. Now, I just casually collect and hunt.
Yeah, I still have the TH Box Set and it's about time for it to find another home. I have started gaming I need to buy a computer that can handle streaming!
This could have been your best video, and that's saying something. I found a treasure hunt today, the Subaru WRX STI. And I just wanted to know more about treasure hunts as a whole. I've only found three in total and I don't know a lot about them. But this was a great video and I hope you do more like this one. I'm still on the hunt for a super treasure hunt, but I'll find one eventually. Keep up the awesome work!
Hey RaceGrooves, just want to say I really like your videos and I've been collecting Hot Wheels (Casually) over the past 3 years. Started off with my Girlfriend and I going to stores and just passing by the Hot Wheels isle and a Nissan GTR (09 Release, also one of my favorite cars) caught my eye. Months passed by and I would pick a few up based on cars I liked. Ended up marrying my Girlfriend and we have a 1year old son. I made the excuse to buy more Hot Wheels for when he gets old but some of the ones I picked up are really for me lol. Now that my son can pick out what he wants whenever we pass by the Hot Wheels isle I go through the pegs and pick a few out and hold them up for him to see. And I ask him to pick one of the obes I'm holding up. He picks one then I rearrange them differently and tell him to pick again. If he picks the same one thats the one we take for him and I pick another one for me or my wife does. If I see a TH I will pick it up, even if its a basic. We haven't been so lucky to find any Supers but we're always on the lookout for them. My son's collection currently consists of 36 cars that he's picked out. He's not old enough to play with them with out supervision but every now and then I open one up and play around with him. I look forward to continue collecting cars I like with my son as he gets older. I might never be able own and afford all my dream cars but I can afford their $1 Hot Wheels counterparts. So if you're ever by the Cudahy Kmart or South Gate Target and you see a Young Man holding up some Hot Wheels for his Infant son to pick, we'd love to talk Cars :)
So after off and on looking for 19 years, I walked into target yesterday at Noon and found 2 regular treasure hunts sitting on the pegs. Nothing great of course, but 2 2017 Arrow Dynamics, but they will always be special to me now. Now I can cross that off my list, and as you say, stop worrying about finding Treasure Hunts, because Frankly, its too time consuming and more of a headache. It was a relief though, and they will be forever in my collection. I had to open one of them though 😄
What many people don't get or comprehend is that is that: 1- There is one treasure hunt in each box.. 2- there are one or two pieces of each other car in each box.. It is not like there is one treasure hunt in a box of 72 same cars.. Or between two other cars with 36 and 35 each. :^)0- And honestly, some treasure hunt pieces never matter to me.. :o)
I know you dont like to talk about Treasure Hunts but I think you should.Give the people what they want first then talk about whatever else you like.Im new to collecting hot wheels and im enjoying your Treasure Hunt Videos very much as well as your knowledge.Stay in the Hunt Race Grooves!
I'm from England and same rules apply, Treasure hunts are only good if they are a real Brand car. I sell basic Ferrari, Lamborghini etc.. for much more than the treasure hunts. Supers on the other hand are hard to get as we have less cases total over the country. They can sell for quite a lot. KEEP UP THE GREAT VIDS. Always check in to see what's heading out way next
Very informative video Mark. I also believe T-Hunts are not very rare, but when people buy all of them it makes them rarer. I dunno if the FangSter or the next T-Hunt (Speed Box), will be a collector favorite, but I can't lie and say I would't pick up a few of each. As for the $upers yeah if I found 10 I'd do the same, if I found two I'd think somethings not right and three, well I'd lose it and go dancing to the check out! Cool video Mark! Also I love the T-Bird T-Hunt, so nice!!
I used to play with my hot wheels by lining them up. I play with them more now than then. Now I buy the thing and put a car on it and make sure the car dosent get a scratch. The worst condition car I've done is 4 scratches.
RaceGrooves, Your videos are probably the most informative Hot Wheels videos I have viewed on UA-cam. Keep up the good work! I'm writing because I have a question for you. Since I am trying to collect only treasure and super hunts, I need something special to store them in; I need a large UV protected container for carded, individual plastic carded covers, and individual plastic loose covers, but I don't know which are the best or where to buy. Google is simply not helping me... I have tried Protech and did not like them. Protecto Paks don't look good because of the shaved off corners on one side. Thanks, Shane
Sorry, since I don't really use protectors, I don't have any recommendations for individual protectors. For storage, I would recommend Hot Cases (black) hotcases.com/
Thank you! I guess since I am trying to collect "chase" cars, I have another question about a certain code on the card. This code is an imprinted code located on the far left side of the card to the far upper end. This code seems to be the same on cards that came from the same case, and is different when cards are from the same case letter, but not the same case. I'm wondering if when I try to find a mainline edition of a super (to contrast the super with and possibly sell), this code would be most desirable to be the same. In other words, should the mainline edition of the car come out of the same exact case as the super?
Could you do a christmas video? I'm excited for the holidays and wanted to ask if you could make a christmas themed video in the future. I'm a subscriber and love watching your videos.
Great video RaceGrooves.I have been getting kinda bored with treasure hunts lately because in the past three weeks I have found seven treasure hunts not including the two Prototype H-24 I left on the pegs because I already have three and one Bad to the blade I left since I have and only want one.
Cool video..I was 9 when the 95 treasure hunt set came out..my grandma always got jcpenneys catalogs I wanted that set sooo bad..but at 9 seemed like so much. Didn't know that it be worth what it is today...
A super I think is rare. So well done on that. Guess that was a good feelin seeing it . This weekend I went out for the first time to my local shops to buy what I like and maybe find a treasure. Have never even seen a super in real life :) Luckily in S.Africa a kid might take it cause he likes the look. But otherwise I dont think anyone looks for them specifically... its Sunday morning and I already got fairly lucky :)
Hi RaceGrooves im back into Hotwheels so keep up the good videos you should do a video of similarities and differences of pavement pounders and trackin trucks
I couldn't be bothered with treasure hunts, I buy what I like. I'm an old man so when a kid came over to buy some old hotwheels I let him tell me what the prices should be because I had no idea. He had a lot of knowledge because he was a young kid and was really into it. I let him take my super treasure hunt for a couple bucks, it was the green mustang. His dad and me smiled at each other, did my heart good to see a young kid so excited. What good is a hot wheel to an old man? are you going to take it with you or let some kid get more out of it than you ever will.
Great info there Mark. Yeap, collectors of just about anything sometimes end up paying crazy prices for what they 'percieve' as a valuable item. Like the Camaro in that TH set and not all the others. As you say, it's just what people will buy. Me? Just before Xmas, and to my surprise, I gleaned 2 Treasure Hunt '11 Corvette Grand Sports from my local Halfords (a UK car spares/accessories and bicycles store). Paid normal price. But since I got back from visiting the family, I'm thinking, all my cars must run on the track or I can't justify 'em. So I'm going to have a bit of fun this afternoon and take them back to the store, the manager knows about collectors and hunts etc. So, seeing as some similar are on sale on ebay for just £1.50 and £2.75 I'll just swap these for some regular cars in the bin and let someone else have the TH fun, if they even know about it. :¬)
+wordreet Swapped 'em for two HW Flames cars, a black 67 Chevelle 396 and a 69 Dodge Coronet Superbee in green. Picked up a few more cars too, just because.
I live in Singapore and I am 11 years old. Finding a treasure hunt in my country is very rare.Supers are even rarer.Fortunately, I was able to find Treasure hunts but no supers. On one time in December 2013 I searched the pegs and I found a super! How awesome!
awsome vid very educational. In the video you made your feelings clear on value of basics & super hunts but what about errors? how much would you pay for errors? should super hunt errors be worth super moo-la. basic errors can be one of a kind.
A cool vid Mark! Lots info.in uk we rarely see supers ,we see some regs but not like you guys do.I find it quite annoying that Mattel sends all the US guys the supers and nearly a t hunt in every case where as we can hardly find em!I would of loved the super tundra but nope, same with the gulf fast fish.you know why I would of liked that!
Nice video :) I collect cars based on the models I like, so as an example I'll collect something like Krazy 8's in every color/variation, just not from track sets and similar to that. I was very excited this week when I went to target, I picked up 3 cars I liked but as a bonus I found my first ever treasure hunt ^.^ Although I don't collect Night Burner, I couldn't pass up my first T Hunt find.
Hello! I have recently gotten a 5 pack from the HW LEGENDS series. ( I think that's how they are called) In the Baja Truck, on top of the front tire it was written HWGRFX, and I couldn't find out what that means. Does any one here know?
I started collecting a few years ago and before i found your channle i didn't even know that they existed. I don't really pay attention tho them now eather but if they would ever make a "richard petty" 71 plymouth superbird i would hunt it down :D, love your channle
ox thehellbull Thanks! I think they made '70 version of the Superbird with Petty deco's. It was in the Vintage Racing series. Use these keywords on eBay and you can find people selling it. hot wheels vintage racing superbird petty
TheScooterdude80 I didn't start collecting until 1998. It would have been nice to find 95's! Even the hunts that I did find, I didn't sell very many of them unless I had multiples.
cool. So I actually have the Super Treasure hunt mach mustang...probably the only treasure/super treasure hunt I will own since I'm not inclined to buy on ebay or elsewhere for the dollar cars...finding what I want in the stores is fun. still waiting for that first time I come across Herbie....for a buck in the store on the beg. so Regular treasure hunts still have that flame circle thing?
Hey Racegrooves! I'm just wondering how can I find these treasure hunts without resorting to EBay? How hard will it be for me to find Super treasure hunts or normal treasure hunts at Walmart?
I really miss KB because they always had lots of nice hot wheels 2/$1 usually. I like getting the cars that are modeled after real cars but right now I'm pretty much only looking at the Monster Jams. The one I really want, Captain America, is just selling for more than I'm willing to pay. I think my favorites now are the flag series of Monster Jam.
I live in Romania and had the chance to open 100 cases at once. Yes 100, a store here got all the 72 car cases out and let me run wild. I found countless regulars but only 3 Super Ford Ranchero Hunts. So they are hard to find.
I would think the "Silver Cuda" that was changed to the red version should carry more value too. i would assume if they made the first (for argument sake we'll say 1000) 1000 are all silver i would assume they probably only made 9000 with the red which would maybe put them at a lower production amount than the others aside from the silver?
Mark, are there any differences between the HW's playsets vs. The Matchbox sets? Does Matchbox even make any? It seems that all I find are the HW's ones. Thanks for the awesome vids! Brian.
Today I was at target and I saw a decent sized dump bin that they put on the end of the aisle and inside I found two Sandblaster Super Treasure Hunts. I only took one though and left the other one for another collector ( for I am not a greedy collector) Then I went to safeway and found a Nightburner Treasure Hunt. So it was pretty good day for me:)
I started collecting in 1998 as well, but since about 2008 I have stopped....thinking about getting into it again, since I found a super the other day....just takes that one find to start the passion over again...lol....just wish these RLC cars were worth at least what I paid for them ha!
+nosoupfuru Agreed. It would be nice if they kept their value but people are more focused on "Treasure Hunts". The HWC/RLC cars are produced in far smaller numbers and for the most part, have nice features.
what are you doing with 10 fangsters? i got in to these cars due to war game called gaslands, id hate to customize something a rare .. got the collecting bug from card games.. its a strange beast
I collect all Camaros and dodge challengers all of them. but what do you think of people who buy all of the treasure hunts and find about 500 to 600 in one year do you think they are greedy???
here in Chile (south America) it's pretty difficult to find Supers…almost imposible…but regulars are sometimes easy and you can find 2 or 3 on the pegs. It's kind of frustraiting to go to 5 or 6 places and be able to talk to the staffers and they let me open the cases and see what it's inside before they put it on the pegs and in one week i had the chance to open at least 15 B cases (2014) and didn't found any Super Sandblaster…sad and disapointing but it's our reality.
I really enjoyed this vid. I pick the (super) t-hunts up too but if it's a car like the Fangster I'll give it to a young collector I know. It's alway fun too make someone happy. ;)
I found a Treasure hunt and a super treasure hunt at a local grocery market. Not in walmart or a big store I've also found a few of the same treasure hunt there
I wonder how many Treasure Hunts actually make it to the unopened collection stages. If there are 70,000 STH's, how many people got them, played with them, and tossed them in the garbage at some point. I didn't care about supers until I got deep into collecting very specific vehicles and I wanted all of them for those makes/models.
Wow so much that one super is worth a bit more than an original chevy camaro redline car hmmm I think I rather have the redline but it is a very nice casting thanks for uploading this :)
where I live they are very rare, main reason is collectors have the major stores tied up and the cars are removed before they hit the pegs, once I got to know the staffers in the stores they explain to me what goes on in the store room
i also bumped into one very serious collector who has many stores pulling stock for him, the angry bird series cars were also impossible to find
i'm yet to find a TH car, yet I could find a Lego Mr Gold
Leo - I have several duplicate treasure hunts. Can I send you a few? It's the least I can do after you sent me that Lego Star Wars set.
Speaking of younger collectors, I am one. I saw that ToysRus had cases on top of the shelves and I asked an worker to open one and I will stock the pegs. Agreed! Some collectors that I know just go overboard with this hobby. Kind of like they're competing.
wow, you are very lucky. In 8 years of collecting, I only have 2 normal T-Hunts.
@@TheCollectorsHangout cool!!
@@rafachu2010 seriously? I have a couple 2021 TH models and a few under 2021

It was an awesome day when I found 4, FOUR Super Treasure Hunt's in one store. My God!
TNTBros Exotic Automobiles Congrats!
Awesome!
Sick! :D
Thank you all! That's an unforgetable experience!
2013 ones: 1 XB, 1 Supersnakes, 1 El Camino, 1 Bone.
The Kaz-Man has done it again with this awesome video! Great advice from a great person! I used to hunt just like that. When the store opened and everything. Now, I just casually collect and hunt.
Ok
Fast forward some nine years later and that '67 Camaro has quadrupled what you quoted in this video!
Yeah, I still have the TH Box Set and it's about time for it to find another home. I have started gaming I need to buy a computer that can handle streaming!

Fantastic video. 5 Stars A++ great vid. Just the explanation I was looking for. Got to show this to some of my friends.
Found my first treasure hunt by accident yesterday, along with 3 mclaren p1s and a gtr anniversary edition. Found a bunch of other good finds as well
Great video. Enjoyed your take on the treasure hunts. Thanks!

very nice video, now I know what the get.Oh,and please do a video on blue cards and different types of cards, and do a video on hot wheels blimps.

I found a Ford Fiesta Treasure Hunt at a grocery store, and I didn't even know it was a treasure hunt. I bought it because I liked it!
Your spot on racegrooves.i have tons of basic treasure hunts but only four supers.
Its rarely to see TH at my local Walmart. but tons of basic cars but i hope one day to find a TH in my local Walmart :)
I live in Singapore and I am 11 years old. Finding a treasure hunt in my country is very rare.Supers are even rarer.Fortunately, I was able to find Treasure hunts but no supers. On one time in December 2013 I searched the pegs and I found a super! How awesome!
I have heard that Supers are hard to find internationally. Congrats on finding some basics!
Thanks!
awsome vid very educational.
Nice touch with the comment's with precieved value vs time involved
I have drift king treasure hunt and I was wondering if I should open it or not
Thanks mark! This is highly informative
There pretty common if you stock the shelf and look through them all first right out of the box, and extremely rare if your just a customer.
What is the song? 0:06 20:32
Music credits are in the outro.
But like a music credits outro or intro
you are funny and so fun to watch your channel man!
In my city we have over 1,000 collectors making it hard to find treasure hunts it gets ridiculously hard at times to even see one
hey I got 5 super th in Walmart and that were the agera r, ford GT , Acura nsx in gold, but I purchased these 3
Hello! I have recently gotten a 5 pack from the HW LEGENDS series. ( I think that's how they are called) In the Baja Truck, on top of the front tire it was written HWGRFX, and I couldn't find out what that means. Does any one here know?
By the way, great video! Keep the good job
Wow that's awesome thank's for the hint
should also note cause of how popular the 1995 67 camaro is it has plenty of counterfeits being sold on ebay
It was nice back in 1995 when no one knew what a treasure hunt was. I still have my old hunts I dont sell them.
TheScooterdude80 I didn't start collecting until 1998. It would have been nice to find 95's! Even the hunts that I did find, I didn't sell very many of them unless I had multiples.
I have the red version of the grey plymouth. Is it wort anything
I started collecting 2013 and started noing about treasure hunts and Ben looking for one since early 2016.
cool. So I actually have the Super Treasure hunt mach mustang...probably the only treasure/super treasure hunt I will own since I'm not inclined to buy on ebay or elsewhere for the dollar cars...finding what I want in the stores is fun. still waiting for that first time I come across Herbie....for a buck in the store on the beg. so Regular treasure hunts still have that flame circle thing?
can u make a vid on just showroom and workshop cars because thats what i mostly like to collect
Hey Racegrooves! I'm just wondering how can I find these treasure hunts without resorting to EBay? How hard will it be for me to find Super treasure hunts or normal treasure hunts at Walmart?
Here's my video on How To Find Treasure Hunts!

You really helped me understand collecting! Thx!
You're welcome!
I was at a swap meet last weekend & saw a Treasure Hunt Trans Am for $8, I regret not picking it up. Let's hope it's there this weekend.
Thank you Mark, that's very useful information!
So they are hard to find.
creative512 Unde asta?
Jack London in tm, dar acum ceva timp 😊
Wassup! =)
Does anyone know the official policy of super T-hunts in the UK? I've never seen any and have heard they aren't available here. Is this correct?
@Racegrooves should the red night shifter with the 03 on the side have yellow and black wheels in the back and silver in the front
can you do a video on just semi trucks and my name is devin smith and i started collecting also love your videos
Awesome Presentation on Treasure Hunts!
the top-left car with the red painted rims is a Redline car and is worth a lot of money
I would think the "Silver Cuda" that was changed to the red version should carry more value too. i would assume if they made the first (for argument sake we'll say 1000) 1000 are all silver i would assume they probably only made 9000 with the red which would maybe put them at a lower production amount than the others aside from the silver?
You are correct! The Silver Cuda was very limited!
Mark, are there any differences between the HW's playsets vs. The Matchbox sets? Does Matchbox even make any? It seems that all I find are the HW's ones. Thanks for the awesome vids!
Brian.
Thanks for sharing this information.
I have only found 3 basic treasure hunts I’ve found Howlin Heat Blade Raider and 16 Angels
awesome video.. I love the treasure hunts...
Congrats!
thanks for sharing the video!
I love the Ford Falcon XB and have 18/19 variations. I was lucky enough to find the purple super on the pegs, but I had to buy the other from ebay.
what are you doing with 10 fangsters? i got in to these cars due to war game called gaslands, id hate to customize something a rare .. got the collecting bug from card games.. its a strange beast
I collect all Camaros and dodge challengers all of them. but what do you think of people who buy all of the treasure hunts and find about 500 to 600 in one year do you think they are greedy???
I found a basic treasure hunt of the blade Raider in red in HEB
Great video, Thank you!!!
here in Chile (south America) it's pretty difficult to find Supers…almost imposible…but regulars are sometimes easy and you can find 2 or 3 on the pegs.
I live in Singapore and there is very little choice of hotwheels and
I only found 2 treasure hunts for
6 years
I really enjoyed this vid.

You and GOSTJERKERs have the best videos
Where did you buy that car pack
I wonder how many Treasure Hunts actually make it to the unopened collection stages. If there are 70,000 STH's, how many people got them, played with them, and tossed them in the garbage at some point.
I didn't care about supers until I got deep into collecting very specific vehicles and I wanted all of them for those makes/models.
Barstow Walmart, that's where I found 7 of the 8 cars in the Fast and Furious walmart exclusive. I got there at 10am, all the FnF no.4 car--nada.
Very Nice Thanks for the Info.... You seem to have a lot of Treasure Hunts
Hi RG, I was just on ebay and the Fangster is selling for $2.16 but the shipping is $10.80 lol.
My friend, you are a wise consumer! Before bidding, pay attention to the shipping charges!
RaceGrooves Yup, those shipping charges will get you all the time.
Wow so much that one super is worth a bit more than an original chevy camaro redline car hmmm I think I rather have the redline but it is a very nice casting thanks for uploading this :)
