Idk what is valuable and what isn't but recently been collecting ones I like, I found a hw art cars one called raijin Express and I love the dragon detail on it
I wanna say for people who just like hot wheels like me. Collect what you like, not what will be valuable. I think it should be obvious but seriously you dont have to do anything except collect to be a collector. the resell value simply doesn't matter if you just like it. None of my hotwheels are anything above the mainline ones, but i love every single one of them just because it gives me joy collecting them. Imo the better collector cars don't even look that good, so make sure to never forget to enjoy the collecting first and foremost^^
Agreed, I have literally over a thousand hot wheels still in mint packaging from when I was a child I had all kinds of opened ones but I always made sure to put away my favorites. Still have them all and any time I see one I like I buy it and add it to the collection.
The cars I go for are the officially licensed ones based on actual vehicles such as Volkswagons, Corvettes and Lamboginis. I also collect character cars and 'Hollywood diecasts' based on cars from films and shows. I have recently got into collecting monster tucks too. great review. very informative. keep up the great work.
Collected hot wheels from 99-03 just collecting mainlines and TH and left the hobby. Started again 2 years ago and it was a different world I got turned on to. Meeting the right collectors that I call friends now, I am into the RLC and convention pieces. Hot wheels has gotten so big that within the 2 years I have so many cars that go for pretty good money. Alot of which I get out at stores or when the RLC drops a new car. I'm not a reseller so for me I love the collecting aspect of it. Enjoy your cars and have respect for the hobby. It's awesome.
Hotwheels has changed a lot since then. Nowadays there is more resellers than collectors. Which is a good thing since it is driving up the prices and also making the hobby more desirable as it is harder to find cars at the store and the bots that compete online. The scarcity has definitely attributed to the prices.
I recently heard that American retail outlet Kroegrer have produced exclusive Hotheels cars that are even rarer than Super treasure hunts. These cars in question are standard mainlines but what makes them so sought after and collectable are the backing cards they are on themselves which are in black and white with the idea that you colour them in yourself. These are ones you definitely want to keep in their packaging if you are fortunate enough to obtain them.
i have eight USA cars- four classic cords and four olds 442's. all of them are in their original cards. i know they could fetch several hundred dollars each, but theyre just not for sale. the blue cord and the orange 442 are my faves.
I'm a kind of collector myself, and I realise all the Hotwheel cars I have is just common. Still, it makes me excited even though they are not that detailed.
there's a lot of really nice ones with many paint variations in the $1 line, I wish they saved the treasure hunts for the premium line, since people want to spend a lot on those anyways, but it must make business sense
I've been collecting for 11 years, I'm a person who does not really care about the value of 1/64 scale cars since I customize almost 98% of them. however it's nice to see these videos, really enjoying them!
The sweet 16. I had them all in the packages, until i was robbed in 1998. My dad told me when i was a kid to buy two of each . You can play with one and keep the other one in a box. And thats what i did . I wonder where they ended up. It tore my heart out when they were stole from me. Also stolen were my vinyl albums . just over 9000 albums. That hurt more than the Hot Wheels. Years later i did start over , but will never recover from the past. I am at around 1500 now with rare cars found at different locations around the country. Will be selling them in the next year or two. A total package deal to the right person.
@@imjustpassionate3340 i love buying new ones but now that im retired i dont get out as much, plus the fact that the closest store to where i live now is 125 miles away one way . but i get a bunch when i go! thanks little brother
@@cheesewithuhhh Yeah it was a heart breaker. They can't steal the memories of the searches and then the joy when i got home to check the new additions. You should have seen the hot wheel cities my friends and i made on the hill behind my house when i was a kid. I'm talking full blown cities with police stations , fire houses , grocery stores , gas stations. Even went as far as having 2 different districts. My dad was in construction. Thats who i learned that from. If your gonna go , Go Big lol.
My house was robbed. When me and my parents moved. And we got 2 truck loads at a yard sale then 4 truck loads at the guys house. I had some unopened hotbwheels. In a Marlboro bag. Got the bag back but I didn't go inside the house but seen hot wheels hanging on the wall
I'm a girl and I've been collecting hot wheels since I was like 12 I remember going to this flea market and there was this woman selling her old hot wheels and they were pretty rare I think they were old the card (packaging) was like vintage and it was a whole set and she was happy to see another girl in the same hobby so she sold them to me half price. One of the best days of my life honestly that woman was so sweet
I'd guess there are 10,000 plus of any STH based on how many shops and even convenience stores sell them. They shouldn't resell for more than $20 since you can get a premium brand for that.
Premium and STH are completely different though. STH typically aren't announced on the packaging and are automatically more rare because less are made. So it makes sense how some go for so much
I've been collecting cars since 2018. Found my first Treasure Kunt by accident, and it's a Kool Kombi. Got plenty of premium models, some character cars, plenty of hot-ticket cars like the Bugatti EB110, and 1 genuine Redline. No STH's though.
@@sp33dy_benz Depends on what country & store you've went into. As a Canadian, regular Mainlines cost $1.25, Character Cars are ~$5, premiums $6-7, and if you want them Team Transports, then that'll set you about $18. Ebay resellers would inflate those prices up to ~$20-80 bucks if you tend to get that Bugatti.
@@DrifterD Thanks. Recently I joined in the Redline Club and got lucky to get a Custom Eldorado in pink and it looks damn good. Eventually I'll find a Super... eventually.
Nice video drifter! I used to care about rarity and supers and I even prioritized them but now, I just gave up and instead focused on other lines. (mostly because despite the desperate hunting sessions, I found no supers and my super count was 0) Ironically, I started finding the supers I wanted in second-hand shops. I also found even more cars from other brands which have a limited production marking.
It makes it hard to find the rare ones in stores , when the employees grab them up for themselves when stocking them from the boxes to the shelves . Screwing the customers out of a real good HW. That's F' ucked up.
not sure if anyone commented this but those special series "mainline" hot wheels like the 500 horsepower/mario/lamborgini are $1.25-$2.25 here in the US
I like the unique cars that HotWheels makes themselves better than the real life ones, like the Bone Shaker. They are very unique and cool. I also like the mystery pack HotWheels.
Another tip on value of cars: don't trust eBay for values all the time. Some listings aren't what they seem and are just there to hype things up and makes things worse. Sometimes, if you check sold listings on eBay, you can get a rough estimate on what your car is worth
This is the video I was trying to find all over the internet! As I want to start collecting these, I was not sure what mainline, culture, premium, TH, STH etc meant. Thanks for the video. Subbed.
I remember as a kid going to a mostly clothing store (with toys in the back) and finding some star wars hotwheels that I thought were really unique and bought them. A few years later I am glad I did because only now I realize how beautiful they are. I’ve been collecting proper for… 3 years now? And all 3 of my Supers have been found in a nearby Kroger chain store. My first was actually the one Super I *wanted*, the ‘84 Sport Quattro from the Factory Fresh line. It is my crown jewel. I do hope to grab the Thrill Climbers cars someday, considering the cars in the collection and being a Colorado native.
it's sad the pallets in my area get raided, so all the goodies are well picked by the time you get there, but at least there's enough regular good stuff to go around, the other collectors idea of hunting is like shooting a baby deer right after it's born, they want to make sure no one else even sees "their" cars
Some of my all time favorite rare series of hot wheels are the HW hall of fame line and and the Ferrari Racers series! The pride and joys in my collection is my Ferrari 250 TR from the Hall of Fame set and the Ferrari 365 GTB from the ferrari racer series. Absolutely gorgeous paintwork and details
I'm a 1:64 GTR colelctor, mostly, I colelct Mini gt r35, I also have the other gens, The only thing im annoyed about is the scaling of Tomica and Hot Wheels, SOmetimes their model would be larger than Mini GT's but I dont understand since it also 1:64, so right now im thinking of sticking with the same brand.
Damn I removed the original decals and custom painted a 2007 Bugatti veyron before realizing how rare it was, it was pretty beat up before and I did a good paint job but it kills me to know I basically ruined a collectable
It's almost weird to me that a "hot wheel" can be labeled as limited when there are 10,000+ of them, when Johnny Lightning, Greenlight, AutoWorld, etc... have chase vehicles where there are less than 100. Ah well, supply and demand.
All the other mentioned, STH maybe isn't rare but more so called Hard to Find. Whole my life I only found one. With the limited editions of other brands you at least know where to get them. We just need to learn that Rare and Hard to Find might not always be the same.
What I meant is the other brands aren't available on a big scale outside of USA in general, the only people I know that got these, got them imported. But looking at cars that are actually sold here, STH is still pretty rare if you talk about locally, not worldwide. Well, I even had to import the HW mainline RS 2 Avant, cause I couldn't find it here anywhere
I have 100s upon 100s of cars that I've been collecting since I was a kid and that my dad passed on to me from 1968 and up. Also a few collectors carrying cases. Not only hotwheels but matchbox as well. I probably have so many rare cars.
My favorite cars that I own are the Hot Import Nights Volkswagen Golf, Miami Vice Ferrari “Daytona Spider”, and the 007 James Bond movie cars series. Some honorable mentions include The Simpsons, Star Trek, Batmobile(s), and collectible NASCAR series that come with a metal guitar. Cool stuff!
I am here because i purchased a lot of 60 acceleracers for 2$ a piece and sold them all for 500$ at my local collectible show. Now its a new hobby for me 😂
Hey, I have a mustang collectors item red line club custom hot wheels and I can't find anything about it? I got it years back at a store in the middle of nowhere and don't know the pricing on it.
ITS HARDER NOW TO GET HOTWHEELS STRAIGHT OFF THE STORE SHELVES, since they've became sooo popular online that now there not that many stores that keep them stock on shelves due to this... smh it sucks, im glad i started collecting back in 2015 cuase now im pretty sure my collection is worth over 4000 dollars and steadily climbing in value!
My son got into monster trucks so I started buying him some and noticed they have limited edition Star Wars and marvel ones, I’ve started a decent size collection already including the darth vader which is awesome.
Oooh, okay. Makes sense. Guess I gotta pay more attention to the packaging. I just started my collection last year and pretty much all of them are mainline, I just like to collect real-life youngtimer models from 70's to 90's. Everything else is too high-level for me, for now :)
I dug out of my attic cars i used to get when I was a little kid and my dad would let me get one whenever we went to kroger. It's too late now, and I definitely have no regrets, but for future reference, does opening the packaging significantly lower the worth? It seems like a lot of collectors are okay with opening them.
Been collecting since I was a 1 year old. Although I am not old enough to have high value cars (born 2003) I was lucky to get some from the Ultra Hots collection from 2006. Such beautiful cars in all metal, opening hoods and rubber tires. They still look good but have been through a lot of playing back when, so not in the best condition lmao
same here man, im an 03 baby and had a bunch of cars when i was younger. it’s always been an interest and i’m now in automotive school and my toys just got bigger
I have Hot Wheels, Match Box and older cars in which have little experience of value. I personally haven't bought of collected in over 30 years but my son buys me a car every year at Christmas. I have some rare stuff that can't find prices on, which brings me here today. Any place you know of to gather info?
Hey Drifter, I have a hot wheel that I wonder if u can tell if its valuable. It is a '57 T-Bird not opened hot wheel, the bottom of the car says 1977 when it was created, and I posted a image of it on my community tab
you can pick up the bigger tomicas cheap if they have been thru a supercharger very much- the superchargers scratch them up and it devalues them. the greyhound buses come to mind when i think of that, but all the tomica trucks are like that. YOU GUYS THAT USE SUPERCHARGERS BE SURE TO REPLACE THE FOAM ON THE WHEELS BEFORE THEY DAMAGE YOUR CARS.
I have a huge box of hot wheels from when I was a kid. Early 80's. They are all very well used ;) Who would have thought those 5 for $1 toys would be collectibles.
as a former employee of toys r us i can tell you the key. you have to spend some money. if you want a fresh box to come out of the back on to the shelf you have to make room on said shelf for the new cars to go on. they won't let you just open up the boxes to pick out what you want and bounce. drop like 20 or 30 bucks to clear some room then ask them to bring out a box. now you have the first go at a new box with a chance at some good cars.
Im a flee market hunter, i find alot of 1970s matchbox in good condition but not in package. Any tips for the people that hunt for these cats on flee markets etc?
Played with a Red Baron my whole life without realizing it. 3 generations of kids did. Guess it was worth playing with, otherwise I wouldn’t remember it.
I have been collecting Hot wheels now for 5 years. But I mainly buy Mustangs. I have just over 100 Mustang hot wheels all different, but how would I check it's value?
What about the 50 years aniversary, g machines and racing from 2008/09(example: 68 camaro bigger then regular hotwheels and rubber tires)? Are they valluable?
Above the redline club is the original redline cars and maybe even some vintage 70s-90s cars imo-it’s literally like collecting limited edition cars vs collecting actual vintage cars
Hi, I have been collecting for couple months and I wonder which 2022 hot wheels should I buy in order to resale them. I try to reduce the cost of my hobby. Ps I cant find STH here in Europe.
I have cars from grade school from 1995 - 1998. Trying to get rid of them. Any special ones I should look for and what average price should I sell each one for??? I want someone else to enjoy them
Hello, tx for the great detailed video. So i went to look at some big grocery shops, and found there to be only HotWheels in 5-10-20 car packs only. It was rather hard to find individually sold HotWheels. So I wonder, do the Treasure or Super TH series only come into the individual packed ones? I went through many that came per 5 cars sets or higher and coudnt fint anything special in between. So therefore the question, is TH or STH cars reserved for individual packaged HotWheels? Thank You.

Been collecting for a year or so now I have around 200-300ish cars I’ve only found 5 regular TH I have yet to find a STH😣
Aim for 99 cent store and dollar tree them have good stuff
I’ve been collecting since 2012 and have 700-800 cars in the past month I’ve grew over 200 cars
It took me 8 years to find my first super. You'll get there!
it's sad the pallets in my area get raided, so all the goodies are well picked by the time you get there, but at least there's enough regular good stuff to go around, the other collectors idea of hunting is like shooting a baby deer right after it's born, they want to make sure no one else even sees "their" cars
Some of my all time favorite rare series of hot wheels are the HW hall of fame line and and the Ferrari Racers series! The pride and joys in my collection is my Ferrari 250 TR from the Hall of Fame set and the Ferrari 365 GTB from the ferrari racer series. Absolutely gorgeous paintwork and details
are they still in the packages?
I'm a 1:64 GTR colelctor, mostly, I colelct Mini gt r35, I also have the other gens, The only thing im annoyed about is the scaling of Tomica and Hot Wheels, SOmetimes their model would be larger than Mini GT's but I dont understand since it also 1:64, so right now im thinking of sticking with the same brand.
Ive been through that phase myself but with Majorettes. Ive decided to stick to Hot Wheels to ensure scale consistency and, well, to save money 🤣
@@DrifterD hahaha good point pare, i also made the zoom trend on my gtrs and credited you in the discription
Damn I removed the original decals and custom painted a 2007 Bugatti veyron before realizing how rare it was, it was pretty beat up before and I did a good paint job but it kills me to know I basically ruined a collectable
I think it's safe to say all collectors have been there 🙃
Great vid man! Love the Halo music in the background! 😅
How JDM cars are different from mainline cars, any specific code/sign/logo ?
There’s a J-Imports set that has 10 in it that’s “mainline,” however there are probably more everywhere
If it's jdm af it's jdm af lol period you can tell by looking at it but yeah so.e actually say jdm on them though
JDMs are essentially your japanese domestic cars!
the problem with supers also is that alot of them get swiped in the plants in malaysia, never even make it into the box. Been a problem forever now.
Been collecting for 5 years now, only found 1 STH in the wild :')
I've been collecting them for over 12 years and haven't found any TH/STH
@@enriquemalparidabermejo8332 u can't be in the u.s, that's nearly impossible.
@@mikegollach822 I live in Spain 🇪🇸🇪🇸 that's why I've vever found any STH
Just started collecting some! Bought a nice looking 16 bugatti chiron in a local store. Is it a nice buy?
It's almost weird to me that a "hot wheel" can be labeled as limited when there are 10,000+ of them, when Johnny Lightning, Greenlight, AutoWorld, etc... have chase vehicles where there are less than 100. Ah well, supply and demand.
Too me 10k+ is massed produced. Nothing rare about those numbers.
The difference is STH goes to every shop worldwide while I never saw JL, Greenlight, AW, etc here where I live...
@@monsteryuu9444 Exactly. So which one is actually rare?
All the other mentioned, STH maybe isn't rare but more so called Hard to Find. Whole my life I only found one. With the limited editions of other brands you at least know where to get them. We just need to learn that Rare and Hard to Find might not always be the same.
What I meant is the other brands aren't available on a big scale outside of USA in general, the only people I know that got these, got them imported. But looking at cars that are actually sold here, STH is still pretty rare if you talk about locally, not worldwide. Well, I even had to import the HW mainline RS 2 Avant, cause I couldn't find it here anywhere
What about the 2 different versions of the Koenigsiegg Ageras? (The Gumball 3000 Agera, and the NFS Agera [red])
I have 100s upon 100s of cars that I've been collecting since I was a kid and that my dad passed on to me from 1968 and up. Also a few collectors carrying cases. Not only hotwheels but matchbox as well. I probably have so many rare cars.
Not you check dick
My favorite cars that I own are the Hot Import Nights Volkswagen Golf, Miami Vice Ferrari “Daytona Spider”, and the 007 James Bond movie cars series. Some honorable mentions include The Simpsons, Star Trek, Batmobile(s), and collectible NASCAR series that come with a metal guitar. Cool stuff!
The Larry’s Garage series of cars are also fun to collect
The only hw rare to me are the convention and RLC. Bcoz i can’t get them.
Getting them is easy! Getting the money to get them is hard 🥲
@@DrifterD ya agreed these Cars are expensive.
My rarest is a tomica nissan skyline r34 which isn’t even that rare
I have the triple track twister with is it rare
Thank you from America "D. I am going to make a video on old school Hot Wheels soon. Your videos give me inspiration to succeed!
Awesome man :)!
I am here because i purchased a lot of 60 acceleracers for 2$ a piece and sold them all for 500$ at my local collectible show. Now its a new hobby for me 😂
Real nice vid! Keep up the good work!
WOW EPIC VIDEO!!!! I am subscribed already XD
Welcome to the gang!
@@DrifterD THANKS!!
Really great video mate, thanks
very original shoes in the back😂 no hate bro, keep up the good work
My son got into monster trucks so I started buying him some and noticed they have limited edition Star Wars and marvel ones, I’ve started a decent size collection already including the darth vader which is awesome.
Great vid as always DrifterD
Thanks bro!
How do you collect at one years old
I have Hot Wheels, Match Box and older cars in which have little experience of value. I personally haven't bought of collected in over 30 years but my son buys me a car every year at Christmas. I have some rare stuff that can't find prices on, which brings me here today.
Any place you know of to gather info?
I treat Hot Wheels like Pokemon... You have to collect them all!
Hey Drifter, I have a hot wheel that I wonder if u can tell if its valuable. It is a '57 T-Bird not opened hot wheel, the bottom of the car says 1977 when it was created, and I posted a image of it on my community tab
I been collecting Hot Wheels, Tomica and Matchbox since the start of 2022. Thank you Drifter D for the informative discussions!!! 🇵🇭 Philippines
you can pick up the bigger tomicas cheap if they have been thru a supercharger very much- the superchargers scratch them up and it devalues them. the greyhound buses come to mind when i think of that, but all the tomica trucks are like that. YOU GUYS THAT USE SUPERCHARGERS BE SURE TO REPLACE THE FOAM ON THE WHEELS BEFORE THEY DAMAGE YOUR CARS.
I have hotwheels f50 spyder 1996 first edition. How rare do you think it is?
Very good video as always! Great job.
Thanks alot :)
Dude, no lie, my boss at O'Reilly says he only works there for first dibs. There's like an exchange network going on between stores.
I made a video on this. It's a crazy world 🤯
How do you know if someone has opened the plastic case? Then glued it back?
is the hot wheel 32 ford uno car worth buying?
Thank you so much for the video. I started collecting cars recently and your information and tips are so helpful for me
I have a huge box of hot wheels from when I was a kid. Early 80's. They are all very well used ;) Who would have thought those 5 for $1 toys would be collectibles.
Theyr not worth anything lmfao!
I collect brand names like bmw, Honda, etc. and ones that have mechanisms. Back in the days the ones with mechanisms were rare.
as a former employee of toys r us i can tell you the key. you have to spend some money. if you want a fresh box to come out of the back on to the shelf you have to make room on said shelf for the new cars to go on. they won't let you just open up the boxes to pick out what you want and bounce. drop like 20 or 30 bucks to clear some room then ask them to bring out a box. now you have the first go at a new box with a chance at some good cars.
It's impossible to find sth in m'sia. Even mainlines are swept clean by scalpers (backdoor access) 😥
Any idea what price you’d put on a white Porsche Carrera in a white Subaru STI package?
Nice collections and tbanks for the infos.
Im a flee market hunter, i find alot of 1970s matchbox in good condition but not in package. Any tips for the people that hunt for these cats on flee markets etc?
I have a question... I still have my hotwheel collection from 7 years ago how much would it cost?
Played with a Red Baron my whole life without realizing it. 3 generations of kids did. Guess it was worth playing with, otherwise I wouldn’t remember it.
In your opinion what's more rare amd valuable RlC or STH?
I have been collecting Hot wheels now for 5 years. But I mainly buy Mustangs. I have just over 100 Mustang hot wheels all different, but how would I check it's value?
Nice vid. I came across 4 Sizzlers from 2007, olds 442 green with white stripes.. Do you have a site you go to, for basic values? Thanks
The first TH I found was from the second year of TH series red viper from 1996
Just discovered your site! I've loved Hot Wheels ever since my eldest sisters ex husband gave me his 1970s track, charging point and cars etc!
Glad to have you on board! 😁
@@DrifterD Thank you! Keep it up, great stuff! 🚗
Thanks for the question and I was not clear as to my intentions, but do I sell them or keep them?
Hey I have a Dodge Charger 2007 SRT8 but I’m not sure if I should open it
What about the 2020 hot wheels thrill climbers collection would those be a good investment ?
What about the 50 years aniversary, g machines and racing from 2008/09(example: 68 camaro bigger then regular hotwheels and rubber tires)? Are they valluable?
Above the redline club is the original redline cars and maybe even some vintage 70s-90s cars imo-it’s literally like collecting limited edition cars vs collecting actual vintage cars
Hi, I have been collecting for couple months and I wonder which 2022 hot wheels should I buy in order to resale them. I try to reduce the cost of my hobby.
Ps I cant find STH here in Europe.
I have 1968 mercury couger but paint is scratched nothing else wrong with the car though. I owned it since I was a kid would it be worth anything
I have cars from grade school from 1995 - 1998. Trying to get rid of them. Any special ones I should look for and what average price should I sell each one for??? I want someone else to enjoy them
You need a Mattel membership to have access to RLC cars? Am I understanding this correctly?
6:14 lol the halo theme begins
The car you used at 0:34 is one of my favourite just a coincidence
Here in Czech, 2-4$ for mains, would love to go shopping in the US😅
Hello, tx for the great detailed video. Thank You.
I started collecting this year, and started with the premium line, 92' BMW M3 got about four different ones now. Thanks for the tips!
Weve been collecting hotwheels for about 3 years now. We have almost 200 cars now. I Followed you in tiktok too
How do you hang cars in packaging on the wall?
Im quessing the out of package cars go for less but if its old car does it still hav value without packaging?
Would you say that the 1969 Chevy nomad is a good collectors item, because I have two of them
Thank goodness there's subtitles otherwise i wouldn't understand a word of what he's saying! 😁
