If you love soothe2 plugin, don’t miss my review of their new transient shaper plugin called “spiff” 💎 ua-cam.com/video/3xvqcUQC9AY/v-deo.html
I came after watching it)
Can you mix and master tracks if you're paid? Or you just do tutorials only.
@ReidStefanMusic I have implemented this technique but then directly to the grouped vocals (not some silenced ghostcopy/ return track), and it sounds to my untrained ear as if it indeed makes the vocals a tad more ‘intelligible’.
I do however have a question to which I have not yet found the answer:
Since soothe2 suppresses/attenuates ONLY harsh frequencies in whatever track it is ‘listening’ to… wouldn’t that mean that in this scenario (side-chained to vocals) it ONLY punches ‘holes’ into the instrument layer that you use it on, at the exact places where it detects HARSH frequencies in the VOCALS …thus opening up this instrument layer FOR them….making those exact (normally unwanted) frequencies punch through in the total mix MORE instead of LESS?😬🫣🤔
I trust Reid so much that I use his "iiiiit's" intro as a frequency sweep to calibrate my monitors.
I use it to calibrate my vocal chords 😅
😂😅
That’s hilarious
Corny
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I just can’t believe how good this puppet is at using a computer.
I just wanna say thank you for using music that sounds good. Most times people show off plugins, the music would sound terrible with any plugins lol. Your stuff is sonically pleasing and I appreciate that.
Thanks for watching I’m happy you enjoy the music! Karra’s song Tempo is available on every streaming platform 👍
Had soothe 2 for a while now and never realized you can side chain from it! Thanks Reid!
Just got started with this plugin, so this video is so needed! Always amazing to get some expertise from the realest puppet!
this is what I need. My mixes are good but this really opens things up. I've always had a problem with harshness and ended up cutting too much to try and fit things in, but this looks to be my answer.
As always informative, honest, and an effective tutorial video.
IIIIIiIt’s Production Time 🥰
Serious, I truly appreciate your content. Truly, thank you.
the most soothing thing in this tutorial is Reid's silky voice thank you
That VOCAL tho 🤩🔥🔥🔥
Damn, thanks so much for this video. I totally overlooked the sidechain options on this great plug-in!
I totally love your workflow , using power of other DAWs. ❤
We love it!!! The best.
Reid Stefan once again your the man dude!
Useful illustration, thanks!
huge difference in the first example thanks for the great explanations!
Soothe is a magic wand 🥰
Nice work I love soothe!
Exactly how I use it. Awesome man
Clearly better, thanks for sharing this video with us.
Bro that track is actually so fire
Awesome video. Thank you!
Thanks for sharing. Great ideas always
This was an incredible tutorial. Thank you. Funny puppet gimmick also.
Sickk track! 🤯
Damn. Never thought about using soothe this way. My new ducker! Thanks.
What’s up, I am a blind user that uses logic and avid. I was wondering if there’s any possible chance that you could create these presets from the examples that the realist puppet did since I can’t follow along, it will help me quite immensely, and I would appreciate everything. Thanks.
Fresh off that honeymoon. Welcome back.
Awesome!
Great tutorial thank you sir
the realest puppet in the game 🙏🏼
This puppet goin bananas tho!!😂 I promise u have the best channel and ur one of the greatest teachers. I trust u more than sesame street!😂
Dope!
Cheers Reid
M0fos with 78 total plays on Spotify teaching Reid. Great going guys!
Thank you!
Such a great, informative video, thank you! And by the way, is this track available out there ? It's literally so good!!
The irony is that the tutorial voice in this video is pretty resonant
Wow, I never thought of using it as a sidechain eq. That's quite a good Idea.
The sidechain option is the main reason why soothe1 became soothe2
@@ReidStefanMusic Ok, I meanly use it when I need to do a quick mix of badly recorded dialog. But this is a creative way of using it. Cool
THANK YOU
Have I been smoking something? I just COMPLETELY forgot that your a puppet. Awesome!
Thank Youuu
Love these types of mixing and plug in videos!!
Many more on the way!
Love these vids!! Awesome job.
That song is a banger
Genius
I spy a Fong’s rave sauce 😍
Hello Henry 🙌
Great content. It's for free even. Wow ❤️
No it isn't free, wth?
@@mominkhan5631 the content (this video) is free, not the plugin lol
That was helpful for me a lot. If I used soothe2 in master step, would it be the last part? (I master with ozone)
Hey Reid, for vocals what setting would you put under quality for the oversampling/normal,high or ultra? I know there can be phase issues if you set it too high but what settings are good if your cpu can handle it?
Bruh that ad in the middle of this video and explanations of the plugin really the best in the game 👌🏻
My only suggestion would be to get some more colors of that "Whole Loops" my guy. Just need some more freshness to that already dope shirt.
Nice
I can feel my computer exploding but omg so good
Ty
Damn it Reid you're gonna make me spend more money!!!!
💸🤷🏼♂️💸
Oh my gosh the puppet! SO cool. I'm new here, just trying to figure out how to cut sibilance.
Soothe is absolute magic. I'm producing manly psytrance and it's perfect for taming problem fequwncies in heavily modulated sounds
manly psytrance > feminine psytrance or nah?
@@OpenToSuggestions mainly
yessir
Learned something new, why have I not been using this for sidechaining.
Now will you try the lofi space plugin from waves? BTW nice soothe2 tutorial
Awesome video again! I also have both sooth2 and trackspacer, what would you recommend for sidechain reasons?
Soothe sounds better, trackspacer uses less cpu
@@ReidStefanMusic tx so yeah, i got way too many plugins :D
which track we put the soothe2 to do the vocal sidechain if we mix with a beat? beat track or master track?
Oh i got the same workflow ableton for making music and acap on reaper
wow thanks for doing a deep dive on this - am def guilty of having overlooked the sidechain feature. it really seems like running soothe2 on sidechain mode is identical to what Trackspacer from Wavesfactory does? I'm surprised this isn't more talked about tbh
Yes but TrackSpacer gives you far less control and can only be used in sidechain mode
Same here. My Trackspacer VST has officially retired.
@@ReidStefanMusic So, you use it like Trackspacer for dynamic frequency ducking, but Soothe gives you more control over parameters like q etc?
Yooo, that song is fkn fire lol
I'm confused on how to sidechain this to the main track so the vocals are given a pocket to sit in. Can someone help explain how this is done? I use Reaper
Bro!! That's your wife? Mind officially blown. I LOVE IT!!
Is there a tutorial video for making my mic quality as good as yours 🥺😢
What’s up the realist puppet, listen I am a blind user that uses Voiceover to navigate through these plug-ins, it’s hard for me to follow along. What’s the chance that you can make this preset for me available in logic and protools I’m referring to all the different type of examples that you did, it would help me out quite immensely. I hope to get a response. Really appreciate everything that you have done you’re amazing.
Bought it
subtracting the freq that u want to get rid of the voice, u should substact the freq that u keep on the voice
Wow
Awesome video. To be honest though, I really couldn't hear any differences when bypassed. I'm in a well-treated room with high quality monitors and have been in the music business for decades. Maybe my ears are just getting old? Can everyone else hear clear differences? Thanks
Same
Sooth2 for sidechaining or Trackspacer?
How to sidechain it with logic?
how did you get the delays going so crazy like that? 😭
Can you use this on beats ?
Is there any similar plugging as this plugging from waves or etc..
Plz tell me 😆 I would like to know
Very insightful video….I wonder if the side chain technique is achievable in logic ProX
Yes it would be a drop down menu at the very top of the plugin with all your sessions’s channel names listed
@@ReidStefanMusic oh that’s great…Thanks and Merry Xmas 🎅
I’m a blind user and can’t fall along with a video, I use logic and avid. I was wondering if you could do me the huge favor of creating the process that you did for your examples and send them over to me so that way I could apply it and I could tweak it using apples Voiceover Really appreciate it and thanks for all the helpful videos.
is this the final mix? the instruments are way too loud. especially at 3:14 there is a monster clash with the voice. and the stereo field is too bright for my taste. but nice song and sound quality.
Please do a track production breakdown for this song! So good!!
Great idea!
Hey Reid, I tried getting the trial version of soothe2 yesterday but i can’t seem to get a iLok activation for it. Do I have to buy the plug-in? Or is there another way I can get an activation for the trial version?
Do you own an iLok USB or have an account?
@@ReidStefanMusic I have an account but everytime I download soothe for free to try it out, nothing happens. It doesn’t even show up in ableton even though I have all vst plugins enabled
@@bxbyJ603 go into Ableton plugin settings and Rescan. If that doesn’t work Option + Click that same Rescan button to perform a “deep rescan” which takes longer but sometimes finds missing plugins 👍🏻
@@ReidStefanMusic I’ll try it thank you a lot…. Been watching you for years and you always seem to have an answer for everything so I’ll most definitely try that out. Thank you once again💯😎
Can I use this for side-chaining the kick drum to the bass/synth bass to control the low end?
Yes you can! 👍🏻
I'm not an expert but i've heard many people say that you probably shouldn't do band specific ducking on your subs because of EQ band induced phase issues! Obviously i don't really know how soothe processes audio but i would just duck purely volume for sub-range instruments
Magic software. Looking forward to an Apple Silicon native update.
I'm running logic in native with this though? maybe it's not the same
@@jzg7890 Its opening AU HostingCompatibilityDevice in the Activity Monitor when I open it in Ableton Live 11.1b (ARM version)
@@nectariosm ahhh, i see!
It works great on my new MacBook Pro M1 using Monterrey OSX
@@ReidStefanMusic Same for me! So glad i copped this plugin!
Is there any plug-in that can do the dynamic side chain eq in real-time? I was so excited to try this with my band’s live in ear mix but disappointed to find out it introduced 45 ms of latency.. Unusable live..
This is a very heavy CPU mixing & mastering tool, definitely not something for performing thru live. You might have better luck with a more light weight alternative like trackspacer
@@ReidStefanMusic Just what i was looking for thanks!
Reid you are my FAV Puppet AUDIO JEDI !!!! thanks for being a such a TOUR DE FORCE in the audio engineering community, it is hard this days to find such a caritative and generous human being on a world full of greed, envy and H *-*..... A..-*--......T...*-*-*-* ..E
Great vid bro, wish it would drain less cpu power
But then It wouldn’t sound as good… 😢
When are you gonna do a studiorack waves video with all your presets and eq with waves f6 ?

@@ReidStefanMusic thanks Reid, appreciate everything u do
All through that track i kept thinking i had an ebay bid notification…its so similar 😂
I gotta go listen to the eBay app sounds now 😅
Is this song out? 🔥
Can we sidechain multiple tracks to the same plugin without having to create a group in Ableton?
why wouldn't you want to group the tracks? you can send the audio to all the tracks you want to a return track and then sidechain the return track
its basic thing we can do in Studio One , just select multiple sources no matter where they are, plain simple. @@secondhalo
how much do you charge for a mix and would you make a mix breakdown from it too?
I don’t mix songs for others. I only work on my own projects.
@@ReidStefanMusic heart breaking news
Please tell me if this is out already!!
Been out for a couple of years
I’m not sure if you’re referring to the song or the plugin but both links are in the description!
@@ReidStefanMusic Song but thanks!
How does this work in FL studio? Already trying to do it and struggling.
Figured it out, Click the Gear top left, then the plug and gear right below it, then processing, then Auto-Map inputs, then you can hear when you hit the sidechain button as shown in the video.
I’m glad you figured it out, because I don’t know either! FL Studio always requires a few extra steps for simple engineering tasks 😅
That’s the one Brotha…smells like a hit…
#getit
BRO I HAD NO IDEA YOU COULD SIDECHAIN WITH IT MR PUPPET
Yup only soothe2 has this option 🥰 not the first version
this puppet made fire songs o love it
I produced this beat with KSHMR 🔥
Does hs8 mean horizontal speaker 8inches
No they’re not supposed to be horizontal. Mine are not plugged in, they’re simply there to keep my cats off the speakers below them
Shit that was a pretty good song, and a sick puppet With tons of great tips cheers!
you are doing an amazing job. Please make video for "How to earn by Music Production and Mixing Mastering". I and a lot of people will be very thankful to you.
You are my favourite producer, I love your work. Please help.
instagram.com/reel/CKDCXJ0g0rf/? already made one!
@@ReidStefanMusic Thank you so much! :D India love your work :) You are the BEST
@@ReidStefanMusic sir can you please make detailed video about How to SELL BEATS and GHOST Production. Where and HOW to get Clients?
The problem with sidechaining plugins like this to carve out their space in the mix is that they frequencies they cut the most are the frequencies that need to be cut the least
Why do you say that? To me, cutting the frequencies which are most prominent in the sidechain material is exactly what you want.
@@TjMoon91 Cutting the loudest frequencies the most is not ideal. They are the frequencies less likely to interfere with other sources in the same range.
@@SocialGore I don’t know what you mean. If a vocal is cutting through at 1khz, and you also have a guitar prominent in that frequency, then obviously cutting that frequency in the guitar will help create space for the vocal to come through clearly, without having to be too loud.
This is just doing that dynamically.
@@TjMoon91 i think i understand what he meant. For example : you need to make space for a dynamic voice, (to make it more intelligible), because of some synth with much less dynamic mask between 200/300htz. so you need the synth to duck in in this area, and mostly when the voice is quiet, not when it is loud enough to pass up and be heard. this kind of plugin will duck your synth more when the voice is loud, and less when the voice is quiet. Which is the complete opposite of what you need.
But maybe this work wonder on busy modern mix when there is no macro dynamic of this type to the voice... ?
@@yo_Av That's fair enough I guess. Personally I'd be automating the amount of ducking between different sections, regardless of which plugin I'm actually using to create the sidechain ducking
