We bought this crashed Honda Silver Wing 600 from a power sports dealership 2 years ago- one of their customers got in an accident with this Honda scooter and dropped it off to get fixed, and never picked it up. It had been sitting in a storage container for over a year before we bought it. The pros- this Honda moped has POWER (50 horsepower to be exact)! The cons- it was wrecked badly, there's a hole in the radiator, and we don't have a title. In today's episode we find out if we can get the Honda running and riding again!

Fuel doesn't know what brand carburetor of its in come on quit living in a fantasy land.
It's literally been sitting outside half on it's side in the mud for who knows how long with who knows how old of gas in it.... and it starts right up without any issues whatsoever. Now THAT'S a Honda for ya. Can't beat that reliability. Hands down the best small engines on the planet.

My brother in law pulled an abandoned '79 Z50R out of a ditch half submerged in water. One new cylinder and can of PB blaster later and I was riding it around the woods behind my house.
I crashed my Yamaha scooter and it still started 1st time everytime I tried it for the next 2 years, till the battery gave out. Same petrol too.
I think a reverse trike would be an awesome build with the parts from that Honda scooter.
I like the reverse trike idea too. I'd like to see a reverse trike with big dirt tires and cushy suspension. I've seen enough of reverse trikes for the street.

@@Ezra7X Nobody wants to see anyone die. And I guess the truth is it would sort of be copying Grind Hard Plumbing, who made an offroad reverse trike back in 2020. Their conversion was from a 1000cc Ski-Doo. I don't think it has killed Ethan or Edwin yet.

These guys are at a whole new level of cool. Think about it they take junk and they make it come back to life again and they have a lot of fun in the meantime. I've had over 25 motorcycles so far in my life, I always buy the old fixer-uppers because it's so much fun getting something for not very much money fixing it making it like new again and then getting a lot of miles out of it whether it's in the desert or on the street.

I really need to start doing my research on what to look for i mean I grew up working on bicycles and I know a great deal bout automotive technologies. My biggest problem would be correcting others shit wiring and such idk. I don't know I'm not balsy when it comes to gambling lol but I do know a good deal bout getting motors running
These guys and some other youtubers are incredibly lucky finding what they do. I would have killed to find that scooter for $200 but with my luck I would probably have never found it in the first place, and if I did they would probably want $1000 for it. People around here would soon rather see the thing you want rust into the ground than to sell to you. They assume you want it so low so you can sell it for high, but they don't understand all the work and/or money required between those steps, and they want an often ridiculous amount for the thing. "It was $5000 new so I want at least $2500 for it because it has low miles. Nevermind it's missing all the rims and tires, the head is off the motor, and everything is covered in rust... "I know what I got!".....
If we were all as lucky as these guys, we'd all be doing it. (at least anyone who gives a shit about powersports and the like).
@@JarofMayonaise well what help them is there fan base people always sending them deals and even sellers are willing to give em a deal just to see there kart in there vids. But ya $200 for a scooter that needs a fork, radiator, and some plastics ain't that bad. Honestly I'd prob gut everything off it and build a go kart with lights and turn signals
@@theworstgamervr The only suggestions I can give to you about anything motorcycle related is look for a Japanese brand. Stick to older bikes as they're simple as can be and do research on which ever model of bike you find. Because some models of bike regardless or who made it are hard to find parts for. Thus making them expensive to fix. Where as other models have loads of available repair parts. Also get a repair manual, a good repair manual shows you how to put things back together and what the proper torque specs are for bolts and fasteners.
They usually have wiring diagrams in them as well so if your bike has hacked up wires you can repair it easier if you know which wires do what. Also early release models of some bikes normally had recalls for problems. So if there was a bike you just happened to find look for one like it that is a year or two newer. Like my 1980 Honda CX 500, the early 1978 release model had a problem with bad cam chain tensioners. The plastic they were made from was too weak and would wear out prematurely causing the timing chains to go slack. As well as the pieces of the tensioner would go into the engine crank case causing premature engine failure. My father told me about his early model Honda CB 550 which had a problem with the cam shaft constantly going out if timing. The aluminum for the cam bearing in the head was too soft and wore our quickly so he said he was always adjusting the timing on it to keep it running. Eventually he traded it in at the dealer for something else. :)

Honda never ceases to amaze me with their inventiveness and going that bit extra where most companies cut corners, i see why some of the Honda Goldwings hold their prices , I've watched many Honda rebuild videos including Kevins last video where they stress KEEP THE OG PARTS unless something is 100% destroyed don't by aftermarket parts

Magnets + metal working = kind of lame. I hate how all my magnetic stuff just collects mounds. Sometimes it's worth the trouble but something where a spring would be just as good, I'll take the spring.

Definitely agree with Ike insisting to not heat and bend forks. The heating and cooling will have changed the temper and internal stresses of the steel potentially weakening it greatly. As he said, it's a cheap and easy fix for a quick bit of fun, not a permanent remedy.

Shred off the plastics, wide knobby tires, make it one of the "whatever is laying around" builds, grab a trans cooler off an old subaru or miata for the rad. Mad Max the hell out of it.

Here is an idea. Before you start to dismantle it. Why not look on the weber for a bit to see if you can find the parts for the front end and put it back to factory specs and ride it that way. They are plenty fast and unless Ike has a bunch of stuff to haul back and forth from home it would be super cheap transportation.
I was thinking the same. If it's got a title it seems like a shame to just rip out the engine and cvt. I used to ride a Honda Helix 250cc scooter everywhere and it was awesome. Could have used a touch more power but this thing is a 600-ish cc

I did the same thing to a Honda moped when I was maybe 13 years old. It was at my grandparents house and it had just got done raining so the gravel driveway was packed down pretty good. I was at the end of the driveway and was going to spin the tire in the gravel. Instead, the moped decided to do a wheelie and I whiskey throttled past my uncles car and then his van and when the front came down I smashed into the steel tracks of my grandpa's bulldozer. Used my seed dad's truck and my cousins truck to pull the forks back out. The front tire was flat and the wheel had a big V in it where it hit the track but I still bombed it around the hay field. Good times!

Oh man I had a Silverwing and "wrecked" it over 3yrs ago.. Granted this was out in CA so it's definitely *not* the same bike that y'all have. They are FUN. But if you plan to take it on anything high speed I would recommend re-doing the brakes on yours to be split into Front Only and Rear only. Mine suffered from some awful speed wobbles at the worst times(hence the crash I had) and there was no way to correct it with the linked brakes these things had. You just had to hold on and hope you weren't heading towards a wall.

@@keithschneidly3922 I don't think it was anything to do with that, but the way the brakes are set up on the bike are not useful in correcting a wobble. One lever is linked braking(e.g. Front and rear simultaneously) the other was front only. Speed wobbles are hard to correct and even harder to correct for with linked brakes.
The start-up was Epic... You might want to file a Patent on the table before somebody else steals the design, even though it may be simplistic you have nice detail of the wings & edges, i hope the sold product is painted.

Biggest issue with taking that on your track is the tires. Those street tires are to slick for off road. But that is a very cool unit to make something out of.

Thanks for all the hard work y'all put into sharing the videos with us. Also, that Honda Silverwing's engine would be awesome on one of the more racing styled go-kart frames. Even better though, with the way that engine runs, I'm willing to bet that it's probably a fuel injected engine. If it was mentioned in the episode, I must've missed it. Not am I familiar with it either. However, it sounds like it needs a little TURBO in it's life. It's already a powerful engine from what it seems, why not add a turbo to the equation? I always temp plug a radiator with high temp rtv and a small sheet metal screw. Easy quick fix. Love the episode
I would do a drag cart with that engine. Having a cvt means you get the takeoff like a torque converter then once the cvt is fully wound up, it acts like a centrifugal clutch to get the most top speed
The weights could be changed for better take off or high speed.

Loved the bell, it was handled perfectly with the quick cutaway. Use the Honda Silverwing engine for a mini merch van! Fill it with hats, shirts, camera gear and the like.

I bought angle iron from Home Depot. Welded it together to make a welding table. In doing that learned how to weld to boot. Then I welded a Z28 steering wheel center hub 1951 Plymouth steering wheel and mounted it to a 1981 Z28 tilt column. Welded a modified angle iron to the column mounting bracket. Then put it all into a 1963 F350 4x4 dump truck. 1981 Z28 and a 1963 F350 column mount point to the floor are both 21 inches. Then Florence dropped a NC long need pine tree on the truck.
I believe the off brand engine you were looking for is xio xiang! What a great find, that engine is almost brand new! Barely over break in!

These scooters are awesome. I ride the same one. Mine is the 2007. They are quick and great handling. Can leave the traffic at stop lights lol. I had mine wide open around 116 mph. These handle like a sport bike.

For very temporary fixes at demo derbies and such we have plugged small radiator holes by putting black pepper in them, it can pack up and seal small holes, I've soldered many radiator pinholes too

I bought a Suzuki Bergman 400cc that had all the front plastics/lights damaged...hadn't been run in 3 years. I put in a battery, hit the button and it fired up just like that. These bikes have nice EFI systems.
I love my swing. Drifts, scoots at 112mph, rips tread off new Bridgestones. 3 countries and 9 states, 6,000 miles in 2 weeks. Wasn't passed by anything.

Those lower trees arent CAST IRON, it would be too brittle and crumble, its forged steel guys - there hasnt been a cast iron part on a motorcycle since the 1960s Harley Cylinders
My thoughts as well. Cast iron just doesn't take being bent very well. And it REALLY doesn't like being heated and bent BACK again.
I'm thinking that it's stamped (or drop forge) steel.
Take the whole engine/swingarm combo and transfer it onto a tadpole trike. Lightweight, fun, inexpensive. Good for the street and people are kinda-sorta used to seeing them now.
Considering how well the engine sounds and how well the electronics held up its probably worth it to salvage it for a new project. How epic would that be?

There were Cushman like meter maid carts made with the 500 v-twin. Rear shaft seal was about the only problem with those engines. Kind of a PITA.

Quick tip on those yamaha warriors. Most of them have reverse, its a manual lever on the right side by your knee. Loved my warrior til it got stolen. I installed a stage 2 clutch and never worried about slipping it from launching, dump and go lol. Keep up the good work guys! Love the vids!
