Great review. Thanks guys !! Just a little info. I have toured the last 15 years or so maybe 75%of the year or more. I actually sing more than most people. Also guest singing in the studio. And as for stage presence I think it great as most people say. I am unbracing the crowd and getting into the songs and I use the whole stage. Always looking to get better but having a connection with the crowd and enjoying myself is my strong suit! Now you won’t see any flying scissor kicks. Physically I’m in the best Shape of my life and vocally I might be as well. I again I have been a busy boy Check out my last solo EP “Ripper” return to death row. It did amazing 🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽
Tim, I think your latest album with KK Priest puts the new Judas Priest home on a STREEERTCHER! Same with the live shows. No disrespect to Rob, Firepower was awesome, but Invincible Shield is kinda mid. The new KK Priest blows it away.
I was also at this show ( didn't see you guys , a little rough standing in one spot for 3 and half hours ) I was not familiar with Burning Witches either but they got me by there first song . As you said the singer is dynamo / powerhouse . A great opening band got the pumped Next up La Guns, of course my favorites were Electric gypsy , never enough ,the ballad of jayne . They were great .i only wished they were dressed more professional ( 2 members wore stage outfits , 3 wore jeans and t shirts) Next up Kk' priest , I enjoyed them very much . Ripper really hits those high notes . All members dressed in leather stage outfits. Great setlist 6 kk’s priest songs and 8 Judas Priest songs. Trying to pick a favorite but they were all good so it's impossible for me. I enjoyed this show very much ( except for the standard 3 and half hours ) . Next month I probably see Judas priest at Prudential and by seat so I can sit down sometimes.
The entire Burning Witches catalog is excellent. They are very well produced. Can't go wrong with any one of their albums! Power metal at its' finest and now they have Courtney! It's onward and upward for them.
New Wave of Traditional Heavy Metal such a great idea Pete and Rich, thank you! 😊I’m learning lol! Very interested in this comparison as well thanks guys cool concert! Great to hear such acclaim for KK’s Priest - I gotta see them ASAP!
Saw the show here in Columbus and blew me away. Ripper was absurd and Burning Witches crushed it. LA Guns was solid too but admittedly I've never been as big of a fan... but still enjoyed them a ton. Awesome show!
So wish this tour was hitting Utah but no luck. Been a Burning Witches fan for a couple years and sadly looks like I will never get to see them. Keep Rocking. SOT is awesome.
I saw this same bill March 15th in St. Charles, Il. Really enjoyed it. The drummer from Burning Witches was was killing it. And the whole band was good. I was really there for L.A.Guns, having enjoyed their music since the debut. They were good, but Phil’s voice was a little rough. He apologized for it not being able to sing The Ballad of Jayne. Tracii sang it, along with the audience. Cool moment. KK’s Priest was very good. Always liked Ripper, now I like him even more. What a voice. Overall, one of the best concerts I’ve seen in a long time It was worth the two and a half hour drive.
Yeah it's cool LA Guns throws in Hells Bells as a nod to AC/DC who took them out on their first tour and as tribute to Mal who was very nice to the guys on that tour and made a big impression on them. Mal is the very missed! Great concert in Mount Dora LA Guns should have opened Burning Witches deserved more stage time they were amazing! Overall one of best concerts so far this year hopefully it keeps going!
I went to the Pennsylvania show. They were great and KK hasn't lost anything with his guitar playing and he moved great, but I'd like more JP songs. I never noticed that KK doesn't really look at the crowd or acknowledge the crowd the first 7 or so songs. He looks at the neck of the guitar or squints when he looks at the crowd. It wasn't until "Green Manalishi" when he was getting the crowd to sing the ending that he interacted with the crowd. I also thought KK might say something since it was the last night of the tour and his first time playing the U.S. since 2009, but he gave people in the pit high fives at the end.
I saw the show in Mt. Dora and it was fantastic. Ripper killed it and the whole band was great. Even L.A. Guns was enjoyable. Burning Witches was pretty good too.
Past drama aside, there is a vintage heaviness and contextual scrappiness to KK's band. This smaller-to-midsize venue tour is IMO helping to foster the sense of a legendary groundswell come-back. We are hoping for a West Coast leg, and already planning a pilgrimage to wherever on the West Coast they play should they not come to Portland. Ripper and KK rightfully get most of the attention, but that bass player, Tony, is a balls-out performer.
When it comes to Ripper and Judas Priest, it's so hard to be the first guy to follow up a legend and that person rarely gets accepted by the die hard fans. He sounds great with KK!
Addressing comments made regarding Rippers (lack of) stage presence-can you imagine replacing Halford in priest? I'm sure a conscious effort was made not to mimic Rob. Also the stipped down dress & simplified stage moves combined with the above par vocals make Ripper unique. Can you imagine Ripper with outstretched hand making dramatic moves on stage? The other comment about referencing Priest in songs, etc: KK joined priest in 1970 spent his entire life doing one thing JUDAS PRIEST. no side projects, no wife, no kids, just Judas Priest. It may seem "cheesy" to outsiders, but these are his songs, His band, his life. What's cheesy is Jjudas Priest touring with a KK Clone.
I was at the show, and they played like they were out for Judas Priest's blood. Hearing Ripper sing and hitting those high notes was F'N unbelievable, man. Like holy sh*t! Truly special. So far, one of the best shows that I've seen this year. Also it was nice meeting you Pete before the show while waiting to get the tix.
Comparing Ripper who is 19 years year younger than Rob who in the past had back problems and surgery is ridiculous and a pathetic attempt to put him down. He also had prostate cancer and had a prostatectomy to get it removed, on top of that he underwent radiation treatments in early 2021 before receiving the all clear by doctors.
@@KevinQ1989 not putting Rob down as much as defending Ripper, who I feel kept this band together while Rob got his less than stellar alternative/industrial type rock out of his system.
I remember seeing L.A. Guns open for AC/DC in Auburn Hills, MI. Thunderstruck tour. They played acoustic. I wish I would've paid more attention, but of course AC/DC rocked.
On 3/22 I was at The Obsessed/Howling Giant/Gozu. Good show. Never heard of the first two bands. The Obsessed kicked ace. No KK's Priest for my kneck of the woods. Shame. The only time I've ever seen Tim was when he came out and sang a couple of songs with the short-lived Craig Goldy/Vinnie Appice project Black Knights Rising
@@craigkaminski First time seeing them. Saw Saint Vitus back in 2016, but Wino was in much better form this go-'round. Only saw him have one margarita before going on (not that i was monitioring his drinking).
As a Judas Priest fanatic for over forty years I am completely on Kk's Priest side. I saw them in Florida and was thoroughly impressed. I also agree with Jack...i want my face melted. I am so glad The Sinner Rides Again is even heavier than the first album. I also prefer the guitar duo of KK and AJ Mills to the duo in Judas Priest, Tony Newton on bass who moves constantly and you can actually hear on the albums unlike Ian Hill. Also Sean Elg is easily equal to Scott Travis. And finally Ripper Owens is far superior especially live to Halford these days. Diehard Priest fans just need to give them a chance. 👍🤘🤘
I think Craig hit the nail on the head on why some Priest fans are not warming up to Tim Owens. His stage antics come off as insincere and immature which sometimes spills into the song. Other than that the guy's an animal.
Really got to disagree about Ripper's stage presense. When I first saw him with Iced Earth 2007 I would have agreed it was lacking but last few times I've seen him he's been confident and commanding
Great show I was there. I just uploaded my videos I took from the show while this was premiering. To be honest, there was little too much Halford JP songs for my liking. I would of preferred more from Jugulator or more original KKP songs instead. Other than that I had good time!

Yep, for a band that's more "youthful" than the current Priest lineup, they play short sets and less songs. JP plays 1 hour and 35 minutes with 17 songs.
Ripper for sure is a gifted singer... But Rob has a much better stage present - he just has another aura and does not need to jump around and to talk so much... Rob has also his unique voice wich I just love... To be honest I just can't stand Rippers voice on the Priest songs and does not fit on songs like BtRoD, Hell patrol etc. ... The setlist is disappointing ... While Judas Priest chances a lot and brings a lot of unplayed songs KK just is missing the opportunity to come up with more of their own songs and the Priest songs from the Ripper area... They are complaining JP is not doing Ripper songs although they have so much other songs... But KK himself is just playing 1 song of that area... so they could just skip JP songs and play just KK songs and some of the Demolition and Jugular album..
I think most Priest fans pick on Ripper , bcuz they say Ripper's voice is falsetto where Halford's voice is more power projectìon. I'm not really onboard with this assessment.
